Default Thanksgiving

What are you guys doing tomorrow. Will you be eating whatever you want? Eating what you want in moderation? Or still be restrictive about somethings like the pies and cookies, and starchy foods?

I am not counting calories, i wont be on plan, but I am not going to stuff myself either. I want to enjoy the day and not make myself uncomfortable. I will be right back on track friday. Happy turkey day every one!

I won't be counting calories but I will be on plan. Part of my plan is incorporating several special days throughout the year where I eat reasonable portions but throw my calorie count out the window. So far out of 365 days I have Thanksgiving, Christmas eve, Christmas day, my birthday in March, and the 4th of July.

For me it's important to have these days built in where my plan is to eat reasonably but not stick to my weight loss calorie counts on those days. Most likely those weeks will see smaller losses or I will maintain. If I see a pattern where I gain I will have to tweak my plan on those days somewhat. That's incentive for me to be good - I don't want to have to think about the numbers on those days and if I see gains then I won't have that much freedom the next time.

At this point, I know what foods are better and which aren't so good for weight loss or maintenance. I won't make any food off limits ahead of time, but I do know what trade-offs I need to make. I also know what 1/2 cup, 1 TBSP, and 4 ounces look like, from long experience.

I will count calories, because it's just what I do. My plan is to eat half of my dinner (we are going out). Whether I'll have any dessert is undecided.

Special Day does not equal Pig Out in my book!

Jay

I'm lucky in that I'm cooking everything I'm eating so... Everything is relatively healthy. There will be no cookies and I don't like pie so thats not an issue.

I was going to eat normal today...then i thought about it..normal for me now is 14-1500 calories so that is what i am doing. I will do this for me!!! I am learning to be selfish and take care of me!!!! NO one else can do it for me!! I am making a few things to help keep me away from the mac and cheese and dumplings..i am baking a sweet potatoe to go with my meal...it will fill me up faster and stay with me and make me not feel cheated. I am Special and I will cook things for me to eat as well as what my family wants. I am also going for a long walk after the dishes are done...thats my time!!!

I will count calories and I will be mindful about what I eat and how much.

No food is off limits and I will allow myself to go over in calories.

My tip for the holiday is to make the calories worth it. If it is not something I truly love or something I can get anytime throughout the year (dinner rolls, excess alcohol etc) then I generally skip them - of course that does not apply to the veggie choices. I will definitely fill up on veggies.

I just copied this from the maintainers' thread:

My plan for the day? Hmmm. Well. We're going to mom. She starts out serving food early. A whole array of fattening. hors'dserves (I haven't a CLUE as how to spell that. Not a clue) Well, I'm bringing along (enough for everyone of course) some of "my" salads, grapes and pineapple to put out. I plan to stick to that and wait for the meal to have my "splurge". I plan to eat whatever I want there. If I want seconds, it's got to be of the turkey breast or the stuff that I made. In other words - the veggies. Dessert? I am going to have a sliver of each pie - pumpkin and apple. No seconds. And the biggest part of my plan - getting right back "to plan" tomorrow. That's my plan - and I'm sticking to it Well, at least that's the plan .

Have a MARVELOUS holiday folks.

Since I'm cooking I have more control over what goes into the meal.

I'm not planning to count calories today, but I am not going to gorge either. I'm making healthy food, but I do plan to have dressing and gravy and I will have a slice of pie for dessert. With whipped cream.

And then tomorrow I'm going to the gym!

Gosh, I'll be glad when the next month is done foodwise. I just cannot afford to be off plan. I struggle too hard to get back "on".

My strategy today is to eat as many, many, many raw veggies as I can. Some lean turkey. Lots of water.

I worked out this morning, and if I can manage it later tonight, I'll work out again.

It is also working against me that it is an emotional day. I'm missing my mom who passed away. Holidays are just less for me. I don't mean to whine. I am thankful for the loved ones and things that I have in my life. I.... I'll just be glad when it's done.

I'm sorry you lost your mom. But I say good for you realizing ahead of time that this is a potential rough time of year. Your plan is solid - don't beat yourself up if you go off a bit.

It's all in the getting back on track afterwards.

I'm not counting. I did do some extra cardio at the gym this morning but that's about it.

I'll be enjoying the meal (we have Thanksgiving at my parents and my mom does the cooking) but I'll be having smaller portions and may avoid certain foods. No going crazy on the cookies and pie either.

I count in my head without thinking about it so there will be a tally running. I am allowing myself an extra cushion and an extra workout to accommodate. When you have a plan and stick to it a little wiggle room doesn't seem to hurt much. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I did great at lunch..I had turkey..no skin(my favorite part). I had 1/2 cup of green peas and a baked sweet potatoe. No bread no dessert. Tonight I had a huge peice of turkey breast and a few sweet potatoes. I did eat a tiny sliver of pecan pie..but just a sliver. I am proud of myself today and to top it all off hubby and i did the 5K after lunch!
