This is one of those things that I'm not sure I need to understand. I suppose there's some reason like ... your body just coincidently caught up with your previous eating???? I dunno ...

Take it! It's a gift. Change your ticker. Plow onward with the renewed sense that it can be done. You just "done" 6 lbs.!

I really think that your loss has to do with what you were doing before your binge last night. Weight loss and weight gain doesn't happen the next day after eating too much/or too little. It takes awhile for it to catch up. If I were you, I would put yesterday in the past and get back on that wagon!

It sure is frustrating though isn't it!!!!

That's happened to me before. It was because I wasn't eating enough.

I'm 35 lbs lighter than you and the same height and I dont dip below 1600 calories a day. You might want to try having a range of 1600-1900 a day and see what that does for you. With all your exercise you're probably burning a ton of calories and need the energy. Just try it out for a week or so and see.

Sometimes your body just needs to maintain for a while, then it starts losing again. It's very easy to notice some thing we did right before the loss, and decide it was cause and effect. But most of the time, it's probably coincidence. The real cause is healthy living for the prior 8 weeks.

Weight loss and weight gain isn't instantaneous. You won't see the results of eating nothing the next day and you won't see the results of a binge the next day.

Also remember that 3500 calories = 1 lb. So if you fluctuate between 1800 and 1400 calories a day (and there's nothing wrong with that - a lot of people calorie cycle as a plan), you have to take into account it's not just that you're eating less, it's HOW MUCH less.

Also if you were sick last night and running a fever, it's possible that you're dehydrated. I always come up many pounds lighter after I've been sick just because my body is screwed up. Weighing while or immediately after being ill is simply a sure way to frustrate yourself, IMO.

Finally, I know 8+ weeks seems like a long time and you're wanting to see consistency, but the truth is that 8 weeks is kinda a blip of time in the overall scheme of healthy eating and losing weight. Giving up on something after 8 weeks is just not giving it enough time.

I would say that you need to really CAREFULLY track your calories for a little bit. Make sure that you really ARE staying between 1400 and 1800. Make sure that you're dead accurate on your portion sizes. Make sure that you're not seeing a loss on the scale and unconsciously rewarding yourself with a little more food the next day (a lot of us do that). Be VERY strict with yourself for a while and see what happens.

And don't give up. This is a process. It takes time and patience. You will get there .. you've shown you can. You just need to figure out how to handle the ups and downs of it!!

This is my experience....

Some people lose weight on a regular basis-a pound or two a week, every week.

I am NOT one of those people. I will lose 2 pounds one week, nothing for 2-3 weeks, and then drop 2 more pounds. I, at one point, had a 7 pound drop in the scale one week...and then went a month without losing anything.

Weight loss isn't always like clockwork. I have found that my body likes to "recuperate" after a scale loss. I will drop some, and then my body doesn't like to drop anymore for a little while...it likes to stabilize, and then I'll drop more a few weeks later.

When I first tried to "diet" back in April 2007, even with eating less calories and going to the gym for an hour 4x a week, I wasn't losing ANYTHING. Then out of nowhere I just dropped like 10lbs! And that's how it was. I was 256 then and got down to 235.

Now I loss consistently (1-3lbs a week), but I am waiting for the week I do not lose anything. It is bound to happen at some point.

Gosh... everyone had something great to add.

I just agree that this whole thing takes time. I wish it were otherwise, but it's one day, one choice, one pound at a time.

Be kind to yourself and give this thing a real chance.

I always thought what I was eating THIS week would show up on the scale next week. So your hard work paid off! Don't stop.

Weight loss is a fickle mistress, she can't always be pleased or understood. Take your win and run! I agree with "this weeks work shows up next week" Just keep up the good work and be proud of yourself.

I am the same. I drop at intervals. Also do remember the scale is not the only way to see progresss. If you've seen my signature you'll see it hasn't changed in quite a while. But this week I found two pairs of pants that fit me now that didn't before. One even with pants underneath them! My cellulite is also starting to fade. The scale is telling me I'm doing nothing. I'm going nowhere. But that isn't true!! Don't let the scale be the only thing that determines how you are doing.
