Default Clothes

I have two questions for all of you. As I get closer to my goal, I do back and forth on this topic...to get rid of my "fat" clothes or to save them. What will you do when you have reached goal?

Also, I am going to Mexico in January but none of my summer clothes fit me. Does anybody know of where I can find summer clothes? I've searched my favorite stores websites and am not finding much luck.

Anyways, I'm very interested to hear your feedback on both subjects.

I'm getting rid of mine. I just do not have the room. They're depressing. A lot of them are pretty old. A lot are outdated. Time to move on!

I get rid of my clothes every time I get into a new size. I don't want anything that allows diet forgiveness, I want to know when my pants are getting tight! I do keep one pair of my biggest jeans for inspiration, to remember how far I've come.

For summer clothing I'd try clearance racks at real life stores. Over the weekend I saw summer clothes 80% off at Kohls. You don't have much time before summer clothes are entirely clearanced out. Good luck!

I got rid of mine as soon as they no longer fit. I don't want an excuse to say "oh, well it's ok if I bounce back into a 16 or an 18 or whatever". Once the "fat" clothes are gone, they're gone and damned if I'm going to spend the money to buy new ones.

I have one pair of jeans (size 24) and one top (3x) that I saved for comparison and a reminder of where I don't want to be again.
I just purge my closets periodically of clothes that are too big.

I am a big consignment store shopper. You will be able to find summer stuff at these types of stores pretty easily. Or Good Will.

Get rid of them!

In fact I'm due to get rid of some too big clothes myself.

Same for me. I cleaned out my closet every 6-8 weeks and immediately donated everything that was too big. I then turned around and shopped those second-hand shops for clothes in my new size It was kind of like "renting" clothes, since all of those pieces eventually went back in another donation.

K-mart, Kohls, TJ Maxx, Burlington Coat Factory, have really good summer sale racks right now - at least in my neck of the woods.

I kept a few grungy but durable garmets one size up to clean in - but that's about it.

I got rid of them! If I gain weight, I'll have to go naked.

I held on to my winter clothing from last year...until this fall.I wanted to be able to try on them and see how far i had come. I then packed them back up and gave them to a thrift store..I also shop the thrift store weekly for clothes in my size the the next size down. You need to go ahead and start stocking up on smaller clothing when you find them. THis year i had nothing left in my closet that didnt come from a thrift store..i did go out and buy a pair of jeans from jcpennys.I will buy a few new peices of clothing here and there as i need them...but not much because i dont plan on staying this size.
Bless someone with the larger clothing as you are blessing yourself with a smaller body!!

I did a lot of buying and selling on ebay, when I lost the first 30 pounds (I'm now on round two, trying to lose the ten I gained back, and the last 15 after that).

I didn't want to buy a whole new wardrobe for every size, so I would shop on ebay for clothes that I knew usually fit me well (for me that's Ann Taylor and Banana Republic) and I would sell mine off to other people. It was a great way to reward myself for each size I went down without breaking the bank, and I got rid of my old clothes. I had many nice pants that I bought for $5.

I think you can even sell a lot of clothes all at once.

Do not keep your fat clothes, give them to someone who can use them or to a charity. To find summer clothes , try consignment shops or Thrift stores, sometimes Ross or Marshall's have off season clothes.

If you have a good consignment shop around you--or even Goodwill or whatever, I would check the racks there for summer merchandise. Where I live there is a group of women that do a clothing swap from time to time. You have a few weeks, why not organize one.

Why would you even consider keeping them?

Get rid of them except for one piece in each size if this the largest you ahve been. Otherwise sell them on consignment, ebay, Craigslist or donate them.

Here in Plano we have a store called Chrissa's Closet which is a charity that helps abused women (named after Chrissa-a woman who was abused and eventually killed by her husband). That is who I give all of my business suits, shoes, winter wear, denim and sweaters. The rest of my items go to the local goodwill.

As far as buying between sizes, I simply look for the deals at Kohl's, Macy's, Penney's and the like-you can get some great clearance deals (and I refuse to pay retail for most items).

Another friend of mine sold all of her stuff in a garage sale and put it into her new clothes fund.
