I'm late checking in. My rule of thumb is as soon as I can slide my pants off without unzipping them I get rid of them. Tops go when I wear them and I feel embarrased because they are so big.

This is kind of a big deal to me. I've already moved through a couple of sizes. I'm getting ready to start an unpaid internship and I'm freaking out over the entire clothes thing. I can't afford to replace my casual wardrobe as is. How the heck am I going to get not one but probably two work wardrobes. (I'm only half way through my goal so I know I am still going to go down a couple of sizes) Even the pants that I bought for my internship interviews are already huge on me.

I like the ebay idea, but I already struggle to find clothes that fit right, it would be a total disaster to try buying stuff on-line. We have the consignment store near me, but it's almost as expensive (and sometimes more) than a regular store. My plan is to hit Goodwill and sales right after Christmas and hope for the best. It doesn't help any that I hate shopping.

Some women in my area have clothing swaps from time to time. You could also "go green" and hit some resale shops. I happen to think a good black skirt, a good pair of black trousers mixed with a pair of good shoes and hot handbag will get you a long way for work.

Good plan. Look for black and basic colors. You can find good quality skirts, pants and jackets at Goodwill and other second hand stores.
Then, shop the sale rack for tops and accessories.

Sticking to basic colors for your staple pieces, will allow you to make several outfits. And - don't forget to shop for the accessories if you don't have many now. They can really help update those classic "older" pieces and - with the exception of belts - they will fit for a LONG time

Wow...I must be the only professional Yo-Yo dieter around here. I'm suprised that no one here has ever lost and regained before.

I can't tell you how many times I have gotten rid of every piece of clothing that was remotely too big only to hang my head in shame and cry of severe depression on the way to repurchase MORE plus size clothing once I start gaining AGAIN! Getting rid of my larger clothes did NOTHING to deter me from regaining lost weight in the past. It only depressed me and emptied my savings. I will not do that again. Thankfully I have a large house with lots of storage. I have a giant TV box that I carefully fold all my nicer fat clothes into and carefully pack between layers of bounce and a few moth balls. Once full I'll have my boys carry it up to the attic and it will stay there hopefully until one day when I'm dead and gone and my kids are having an estate sale. I have some nice fat clothes and most are classics, so they will stay in style forever. It won't be easy to get to them, but not in my face either.

I have lost and gained hundreds of pounds in my life time and although I really think this will be the time I maintain forever, I do not entirely trust myself. I'm saving mine. If anything, someday when I'm old and gray, I'll cut quilt blocks from them...LOL

Lori Bell, trust me you're not the only yo-yo dieter. This is the 2nd time in the last 3 years that I've been from 277 to 240 and back...this is also the 2nd time I'm having to replace clothes in that same time frame.

*sigh* - this time the weight loss will be for good...
