Angry A new, different, scale

Ok.......I was just a little upset last night.

I have resigned to buying a newer, more upscale scale. I used to weigh myself on one of the “needle” ones. I used to have to make sure the needle was on zero before I got on. Stuff like that. Well Yesterday I said I am going to splurge on buying a new more efficient one. I set it all up. It has where you can program up to 4 different people in it. And track your weight loss. It calculates your body fat percentage. You can even program in your goal weight. It is pretty awesome. So I went ahead and stepped on it last night. OMG!!!!!!!! Is all I can say! I was piping mad. My other scale was lying to me!! How dare it!! After all the faithful weeks I have given it, stepping on it faithfully, it lied to me. Instead of being 197; I am 202.blah!! Needless to say I was upset. But I guess it has motivated me to do better. I even sat down for about an hour on my laptop and planned out my whole week instead of doing it day by day. I know that I am retaining water due to my TOM symptoms, but OMG!!!

I want a new scale. But I am afraid of this . Of course, it doesn't change anything for real. I'm still the same body. But I KNOW you understand I'll have to buck up sometime, because I definitely want a new and better scale for maintenance.

This can either be good news or bad news depending upon how you look at it But... you've still lost the same amount of weight!

If your old scale is truly 5 pounds off of the newer shinier scale, then that means your high weight was likely 5 pounds off as well.

I know I know... bittersweet. But it means your hard work still gained you the same results!

ETA: Perhaps "gained" was not my best word choice in that last sentence.... >_>

Your new scale sounds really cool! And as Faerie pointed out, you've still lost the same amount of weight, so don't be freaked out by the number! You'll be watching that number drop anyway!

Thank you all, for your comforting words.

I know, in the back of my head, that all in all i still have lost the same amount but the thought of being under 200 really excited me. Oh well i will get there again.

tyler - it is a really cool scale witha color display also, not just digital. I am excited about it and i think in the long run i will be happier that i got it.

Ah big hugs! I remember when my DH said "By the way, our scale is 4 lbs off." I said "I knew I didn't weight that much!" and he said "Errr....other direction." DANG! Why is it never LESS than what you think?

My family used to have a needle scale and it would tell you that you were 15 pounds lighter than you really were! Needless to say, I gave them my old digital and upgraded to one that didn't say you weighed less by where you stood on the scale. *shakes head* sometimes it's hard to find a good one.

It really is hard to find a good one. And this one has the places to put your feet so you do not have that problem.

We too had one of those "fancy" programmable scales. It worked wonderful for about 4 mths (just after the warranty expired!) - then my son waterlogged it after one of his showers!!!!!!

Now we have a plain digital one (I refused to spend big bucks again for a repeat shower performance) ... and this one gives me 3 different readings (on & off, reset each time), all in the same 5 minutes! So I take the middle # it's the closest to the WI scale at mtgs!

I bought a new digital scale yesterday and exactly the same thing happened to me.

All that really matters is that you keep going on a downward trend.

I don't believe the body fat % on my new fancy one. It's way inaccurate. And I only weigh in the morning after pottying. Never in the evening.
That would be great to program your goal weight into your scale.
