Blooming 'eck!! No. 8 already!!

Well - I wouldn't bother with low fat pancakes - although George the dog might disagree with me on that - cos that is exactly where all of them went! Yuck!!

Oooohhhhhh!!!! Our fostering group training days letter has arrived - all day on Saturdays 23rd Feb and 2nd March and then another 5 evenings.

Veggie - clothes..... Is it that you don't like Evans or that you don't like buying clothes or don't actually know what to buy?

If I were given £100 to spend on 'job seeking' clothes I would buy a long line dark grey, dark blue or black (preferably the gry) jacket with matching trousers and a plain white or ivory coloured tunic style shirt; I would also get some nice lowish heeled plain black court shoes which I would wear with black tights/pop socks and a handbag to match! Try visiting a market for the shoes, bag and tights.

hi veggie i can sympathise with you totally i can never find anything either, or if i find right size the legs are way too long(im 4'11) but today i had to go buy new trousers for starting work tomorrow and i went into shop called ethel austin found my size and they also did short length and long length, im so pleased now because i bought a skirt last friday same size as trousers but it didnt fit , you could try etam they have plus sizes and its not too dowdy(not being offensive) also new look too they have plus sizes and there great very trendy but they dont do shorter sizes in legs but maybe for nice top that would do for interviews and could double up for a night out.. hope you dont think im butting in here

thats rotten that all you have is evans couldnt you make a day trip and visit other shops that way you get to shop and have a wee day out , and the plus side for me in doing this is , theres no chance of someone you know serving you and seeing what size you are , which is a huge embarressment for me

Veggie - what I mean by a tunic is a long line blouse that you don't tuck in to your trousers - it might have a nice shapped bottom to it - whatever - they are always more flattering than the ones you tuck in.

You definitely need a handbag. When I used to be interviewing I used to have women come in with all sorts of clutter - multiple carrier bags, shopping bags, all sorts - and I just never thought it looked particularly 'organised' and that is what most interviewers are looking for. You need a smallish bag with just the bare minimum in it so it does up nicely.

Have you thought about shopping on the Internet. There is a website called Simply Be that caters for us more volumptuous ladies (sizes 16-30), they've been advertising on the TV a lot - here's a link

http://www.simplybe.co.uk

Anyone else been having a problem with the email links this morning. Twice I have clicked on a link and it has started to go to 3FC then my computer has been shut down. It only happens with the 3FC links.

Well I miss out on reading you all for one day & it is taking me ages to catch up – nothing to do with the fact that I’m supposed to be working and have to keep stopping & ‘pretending’ to do a few things before I can sneak back.

When my exhaust fell off yesterday, it damaged my gear stabilisers (?) which meant that I was developing great arm muscles when I changed gear – it was stiff. But adorable Ray took the evening off work & took my car to bits to fix it for me – it must be love – either that or fiddling with my car was more enjoyable than being at work.

Veggie I hate buying clothes at the moment, mostly cause nothing fits. For work I wear two very cheap skirts, think I brought one in What Every One Wants and the other in Poundstrecthers, one is black & the other grey – for variety. A tour of the charity shops has provided some white shirts, a grey one & a light blue one. All does me for work fine and looks smart enough. I also have a cheap pair of shoes, again which I only wear to the office. And a monster of a bag which contains, lunch box, note pad (for food journal) hair brush, glasses, contact lens case, contact lens solution, apple – in case of emergencies, hand cream, body spray, vics sinex, hankies, scared to look any further. Would go for Sarahs advice & have a small bag with the minimum in it. If you can’t find a nice jacket, you could always take it off your coat before going into an interview, so that all the interviewers see is you smart outfit Here ends Fashion on the Cheap by Carol

Vainilla Sky ? Have no idea what is about, but sounds like you’re not any wiser after having seen it.

Really must go do some will finish catching up later

Carol

Veggie - do you need to buy clothes to go to job interviews or to actually go to work in?? Cos if it is for interviews then I would go with the suit idea, but if it is actually to work in I would go with Carol's idea.

You need a little bag for interviews and a monster of a bag to actually carry all your stuff to go to work.

Is Vanilla Sky the one with G?????? Paltrow (sp??) in - you can tell I don't go to the cinema much, can't you? - is it the one where she is big and the man sees her as thin? I think Kevin was saying that it sounded funny and wouldn't mind going and seeing it... but then again it sounds a lot like the way he sees me any way.

Last time I went to the cinema was to see (I think) Ghost when it first came out.... I hate not being able to turn the film off when I want to pop to the loo or make a cuppa.

I'm in for a 'fun' day - George (dog) has got an upset tummy... I may never eat again!

Going to the cinema tonight - better not go and see Vanilla Sky then eh Jano? I think were going to see the Jack the Ripper one with Johnny Depp - that should be a laugh then...

Sarah the one with Gwyneth Paltrow is Shallow Hal, really don't fancy that one at all.

The only problem is the MIL is babysitting which means I have to go round and scrub the house from top to bottom, and them some. Better get on with it.

You'll have to let me know what the Johnny Depp film is like, I am going to see it at the weekend. I don't fancy Shallow Hal either, it looks like one of those films that is trying to be PC (seeing the inner beauty and all that) but will probably be offensive anyway.

Took a big step forward last night. Ray came in with a bottle of wine. His reasons; for him, because he was on holiday from work & for me because I’d had a difficult day.

But joy of joy I stuck with the diluting blackcurrant juice. I have to be honest and admit that I was very nearly swayed into having a glass, with the argument of I have all week to get rid of it before I weigh in again & who would know if I did have it. But I did it, blackcurrant juice never tasted as good.
