It was a good day in Korea! How is yours shaping up?
The kids and I had Korean class today. We learned how to strike a deal with storekeepers! Yea! That's a skill we'll be able to use in the next couple months for sure. Then we hit the library and came back home for lunch and a little bit of schoolwork before we had to head BACK to base for Connor's violin lesson. Tom met us there and "relieved" me so I could go to the gym. I ran five miles in a little less than 48 minutes, then walked for about seven minutes, and then did some ab exercises on the exercise ball before stretching. I came out of the gym to find it raining. Poo. Luckily, it didn't last for more than a couple minutes, AND it masked the fact that I had sweated through my shirt in spots. GROSS!!!
I stayed on plan all day today. One grain - Nessa's oatmeal bar for breakfast (with veggie sausage links). I had a cheese stick for morning snack and the apricot, goat (feta) cheese, and pistachio salad for lunch with some cherries. Afternoon snack was about a half cup of plain yogurt mixed with some fresh strawberries and a bit of banana and then we had the black beans and tomatoes with lime tofu for dinner. YUM!
The rain cooled it down enough that we could turn off the air conditioning. It's nice to have the windows open - hasn't happened in a couple weeks.
Gotta get the kids off to bed. Tom's bathing them now. I'll check in later, I'm sure!
Can you smell wet dog? This is getting pretty ridiculous.
I'm off to the gym and then will finish a poster for the Fair. Two male cousins are coming later this afternoon and will probably be here for dinner. Luckily I have a chicken dish in the freezer and frozen peaches to throw together a pie. Otherwise I'll hear, "Grandma and Aunt Lillian always had pie! You aren't following the tradition!" Never buy your grand parent's house.
Morning, everyone! Sorry about that short opening greeting, something weird is going on with my laptop, and I'm trying to figure it out. ???
It's going to be close to 100* here today, ! A good day to find something to do indoors. The girls have gymnastics camp all this week from 1 - 4, so at least they'll be inside for that.
We had a pretty good weekend, but very hectic. Monica and Eric finally got here yesterday afternoon to pick up Carley. It was fun having her for the week, but very exhausting! She's a little girl who's constantly on the go, and kept her grandmom & grandpop very busy trying to keep up with her.
I'm going to run over to Curves for a good workout, since I wasn't able to get there at all last week. I'll try to check back in here later, but I'm not sure what my schedule is going to be today.
Good Morning all,
We seem to be settling in nicely with the niece here. I am going to shift my usual work hours to 6 am - 3 pm for the week, so I can do some things with her after work. Wait, doesn't that mean I should be working now??? I think I'll get us tickets to see Camelot at Wolftrap Wednesday, Harry Potter for sure on Thursday, maybe another hike and the pool the other days. My daughter and nieces here have volunteered to entertain her also when they aren't working, and I think she really likes being with the young folk (where's my cane?). Today, I think DD will take her out for lunch and a pedicure.
Today the horrible heat begins here. I am prepared to sweat.
DS had some wierd stomach virus over the weekend, feeling a little queasy myself and waiting to see if it hits anyone else. Hope my stomach is just the power of suggestion. It'll be hard to eat those veggies today, I want some ginger ale and saltines like my mom used to give me.
Kara, yesterday I had a salad for lunch with sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, and bleu cheese and it was really good. I'm going to get some more dried fruit in and keep making those, it certainly helps the salad go down. Once a sugar addict, always a sugar addict I guess. I want to make your apricot salad recipe next.
Not much else going on here, waiting to hear from DH, hope he gets his butt home soon!
Good morning chicks, the sun is shinning here so no wet dog smell. Yippee, summer has not been the best so far, but today is looking pretty good might even be able to take the kids to the beach this afternoon. .
Cottage- thanks for starting us up, have a good work out at Curves. 100 wow I don't think we have gotten over 85 yet this summer. I don't mind the heat. Have a great day.
Kara- You days always sound busy, but you mange to squeeze exercise time in. I really need to work on that. Have a good night sleep.
Ruth- Morning, hope you have a nice visit with your cousins, I have never had peach pie.
Me- I am doing well with my eating and my sticky is true again. I am feeling better than I have in awhile. Well gotta to dash my baby just arrived, I will pop back in later.
Schmoodle- we were posting at the same time, hope you are feeling better soon. Glad your niece is settling in nicely. Have fun with all your activities that you have planned. Is everyone having heat but me.
Hi cottage and Ruth, you showed up while I was posting! Have a great day relaxing, cottage. Ruth, I will take your advice! Littlechick, if you haven't ever had a peach pie, don't start now. They are too wonderful! Hope you all have a lovely and COOL day.
Ooooh, dried cranberries would be so yummy! I think I used apples and dried cranberries and walnuts once. In fact, I do believe that is what I will have for lunch tomorrow. Thanks, Schmoodle!
LC, I stay busy to keep myself out of trouble. My grandmother always says I don't let any grass grow under my feet!
Smoodle, Uh, oh! I hope you don't end up with that virus, too! Ginger ale and saltines is the same thing I always want when I'm under the weather, too. Mom always fed us that when we were kids, too. Your plans sound great, especially "Camelot" at Wolftrack! Have fun!
Kara, All that exercise you're getting in is putting me to shame! I have to get back on track this week, now that life is getting back to normal again! I'm making that goat cheese, pistachio salad today, can't wait!
Ruth, that's a shame it's raining again. My DD was in Delta last Thursday! I'll have to tell you all about it, but she and Eric ate at the "famous" Longhorn!
Ok, I really have to go if I'm going to make it to Curves!
I planned to check and to spend a bit replying to everyone. Of course, Megan is just starting to wake up and the kid is HUNGRY when she gets up. Back later..... have a super day all!
Enjoy the salad, Cottage! I had it for lunch today. Delish! Connor asked me why I put all "that stuff" on it (vinegar). You should have seen his face! He doesn't care for balsalmic vinegar - crazy boy! I laughed and told him *I* like it!
Morning, Kiko! Two days until you test!!! Had you forgotten? Sorry to bring it up, but I'm about as on pins and needles as you are! My two girls were not planned, so I completely understand what you're going through. I found out I was pregnant with Avery when Tom was away at a 6-week training school. When I told him, he said, "This one better come out looking like me or you've got some explaining to do!" which was funny, because Connor and Kadyn look *exactly* like him and Avery definitely resembles me. hehehe
Just a run by, ladies, more later but SCHMOODLE do you live near Wolftrap? My best girlfriend lived just down the road from there for a summer and so we went there once and I looooove it. And then I had to stinking move to Tennessee.
