We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.
We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.
We also share what works for us and what doesn't.
We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.
Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.
We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.
I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.
If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.
Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

Woops, I posted today's post from me on the last thread, then realised I should have started a new weekly thread. Well it's started now, so here's to another week of us all exercising, staying OP and losing loads of lbs
I lost 1 lb at my WI this morning, so now am finally back to my pre Christmas weight. I seem to be going at a pace, but as long as it's coming off that's what matters
Ammi, I'm glad you got over the headache. I've had one migraine in my life and hope to never have another! You're almost to 100!!!
Annie – great job with the exercise!
Would you believe the darn fridge is starting to cool again! It was warmer inside it than it was in the house yesterday and today DH got some water from the dispenser and it was cool - reached in and the inside is starting to get cool again! It'll probably be FINE by Wednesday and the repairman won't know what's wrong!
I've decided to count my snow shoveling as exercise. I could have made DS do it, after all! So I'm off to post on the exercise thread!
Ammi~ Look at you!! You are almost to that 100 mark!! Cheers to you! (I can only hope my ticker says 98lbs lost one day!)
Lilion~ I hope the fridge gets fixed when the repairman shows...funny things those appliances can do!
Ok, I am off to check out the excercise thread and then to clean my living room...Sticking to the diet so far today and already did 30 minutes on the gazelle...it is going to be a good day! Hope everyone elses is!
Well I am home with a sore back today. It feels like it needs a good crack but I'm scared of what will happen if I do. It is making it hard to breathe sometimes. It has been coming on for a few days so I am wondering if all the exercise yesterday put me over the edge.
So I have been spending the morning laying around with my heating pad and my bottle of muscle relaxers I would have rather went to work.
I may try some yoga later to see if I can stretch it out and put it back into place. I am suppose to start a photography class tonight so I would like to be a bit more mobile by then.
Ammi~ good going on the -1.... I know next week we will be celebrating with you!!!!!!
I'm feeling good this morning! I got dressed and had a NSV. I no longer have what I call the "butt cliff". I no longer have that little collection of fat that's right below the small of my back that travels outwards to my butt. Anyone know what I'm talking about? It makes you look like you have a cliff or ledge right at your backside. I always HATED that. Well...10lbs gone, it's gone too! WOOHOO! I am thrilled about that. My shirts and pants look better!
Ok exercise is done, I decided to cut back a bit this week. I figure if 75 minutes or 90 on some days for 5 days a week only saw me lose 1b then I may as well not kill myself, settle back to just 60 minutes and see what happens
Patti - how is that leg today, has the wrap arrived that hubby ordered for you?
Lilion - you know the saying so near, yet so far, that's what I feel like with regards to getting to that 100 lbs lost. It just is taking forever. I better get there next week or I am going to break something, but don't worry, it won't be my diet You have a WI this week, it will be so wonderful if at least one of us hit that fab milestone this week
Loriette - thanks for the I worked it out for you, Loriette + one Gazelle Rider + Staying OP + 3FC support = 180 lbs LOST We will definitely see that ticker sliding way way down til it shows you at your goal weight of 150 lbs
Brenda - I am really sorry to hear that your back is giving you so much grief. I hope the heat pad and a restful day will help sort it out
Oh I do hope you are right about the celebration next week, I am not pinning my hopes on it though
Simone - on the loss of your butt cliff Yes I do know what you mean, and for you to have lost it with your first 10 lbs gone, it's just awesome. It took quite a while for mine to go, and I LOVE that it's gone forever.
Ammi leg is doing better am hobbling still but can exercise so i am happy... still waitng on the wrap maybe it will be here today ot tomoorw.sssounds like a good idea on the exercise sometimes less is more!
Wow, I missed quite a bit and was only unable to check for about a day and a half. I had our holiday party for work on Saturday night (a big to-do around here...formal casino night with prizes including things like iPods and 32" flat-panel TVs). I did VERY well with food. I did have cheesecake, but I only had half of a potato, some roasted asparagus and broccoli, a dinner roll, and about 2 bites of baked salmon for dinner, plus I hadn't eaten much during the day before the party.
On Sunday, I actually got called by the president of the company (well, he actually called on Saturday) and had to work. He had said we'd work from about 1-4pm, but I had some other things to do, so I got there about 12:20, and then we didn't leave till about 5:30, plus I worked on it a little more even after I went home.
Oh, and it FINALLY snowed here! I miss the snow, having grown up in Connecticut, but we finally got some here--first measurable snow of the season. It made the roads quite messy as I was driving home from work yesterday, but it's still exciting. Of course, it all turned to ice for this morning's commute (plus a good solid 1/4 inch layer of ice to scrape off my car this morning), but such is life when you move further south than you're used to.
Simone--you lucky, lucky woman, you...I'm afraid my butt cliff will remain fully intact till the very end
Hi again yeah my cliff will be the last part to go too I am sure! I think I was born with it!
My back is a bit better.... yoga stretched the muscles a bit and I can breathe again I did 30 on the treadmill too although it was a much slower pace. I'm at the point where I am afraid to miss even a day. Once I miss one, than I can allow myself to skip 2 days.... and so on. You all know how easy THAT is *L*
Anyhow, going to shower than watch my soaps before I hunt up a new recipe to try tonight for supper. I made salmon cakes last night. Not a fan but steve liked them and he doesnt even like fish. They were mixed with stovetop dressing and it just wasnt great. I think I would like to try and make them with potatoes or regular breadcrumbs instead.
Simone~ I am jealous...I still have that butt cliff and probably will until the end! Congrats on the 10lb loss!!
Ammi~ Thanks! I really love seeing that ticker move (but don't we all!)...LOL!
Brenda~ I hope you feel better soon! Photography class? Sounds like fun! I wanted to take classes at one time but never got around to it. Hope you enjoy it!
Gotta run and get the kitchen cleaned up...why is it cleaning is never ending?
Well not much going on today. I am going through my lists today to make sure we have everything. I am hoping the last week we are here will actually be not so stressful. I mean all we are doing is having the actual movers come and throw everything in boxes. Thank God for movers! We are actually getting a good bit of light in now. Its not a full sunrise but around noon til 4 we have some light. I realize now how much the 24 darkness was bothering me. Also I have a good NSV. I can start to see my collar bone!! I didn't know I had one! Like I said before I won't be able to weigh until I get to Spokane. But I really see a difference in my face/neck area.
KYMBERLY~Yeah the DSL up here is pretty much like dial up. It just times out all of the time. Its annoying! How is your team at work doing with the weight loss?
AMMI~Yes I think we should be able to watch the free episodes wherever we are. I mean what about people that travel out of country? Its annoying! Oh well the internet up here is failing all of the time it proably wouldn't have ever loaded the shows! And congrats on your 1 pound loss! WTG! You are almost to losing 100!!!
LILION~I hope your fridge stays working! Maybe the repairman can fix it so it won't do that again! Oh and snow shoveling is for sure counted at exercise. I feel the burn when I shovel snow!
LORI~WTG on staying OP!
SIMONE~Congrats on losing your butt cliff! I don't think mine will ever go away!
BRENDA~Hope your back gets better!
Ok well I am off to find something to eat for lunch. Hope you all are having a good day!
Ammi-What are you going to buy yourself when you hit 100?
Lilion-I had a fridge that used to do that. It would get defrosted and then start working again. The repairman had a good bit of fun at my expense telling me that all I had needed to do was clean the coils and the drip tray. That’s the kind of thing my dad used to take care of, so I had no clue that a fridge had a drip tray.
Brenda-my back has been killing me too. If I stand for too long, then it doesn’t want to bend, and if I sit for too long, it doesn’t want to straighten. It’s not quite “out” yet, but it sure acts like it wants to be. I imagine it is from being thrown in the snow bank, but knowing what caused it doesn’t make it quit hurting any quicker.
Simone-yes, I know what you mean. I always called that my shelf. At one time it was about 6 inches, and very rigid. It was a horror to alter a pants pattern to fit over so that I didn’t show my crack when sitting down. Now I still have a ridge there, but it is soft and not nearly so pronounced. I found it interesting that I lost weight there first too.
I’m going to post this week the “Top Five Tips to Keeping a Healthy Existence” by Dr. Neetash Patel, one per day.
#1 – Creating the Habit. It is often said that doing something 20 times in a row will create a habit. I see in my practice, year after year, people making commitments particularly around New Year’s that they can’t keep or lose interest in very quickly. The secret to success is small, REALISTIC steps towards a healthy, attainable, sustainable existence. Instead of promising yourself to get to the gym five times a week, start with 10 pushups every day for a month, no matter what (no make-ups the next day, no excuses, just simply DO IT!). The habit of doing something will create itself and then you can push yourself a bit further next month.
Mechelle: oh boy, I remember living without my stuff for about a month. It was the pits! I feel for you.
Wyllenn: Thanks for all the encouragment!
Luann: This Saturday you will do better and so will I!
Ammi: Yea! Congrats on the -1 more. You are doing so well. Only 2 to go before the big 100 mark! I think 60 minutes of exercise daily is more than plenty!
Lillion: So sorry you frig is acting goofy! I certainly hope they find the problem and it isn't too expensive!
Lori: Good job exercising
Brenda: Glad you are feeling better. I too am in that can't miss a day mode of exercise and diet. Maybe thats a good thing. lol
Simone: Great NSV. AHH to be without the butt cliff. Life is good. lol.
Jilly: Great job at the party. You are really doing great jilly b. Keep it up.
Catherine: Thank you for the post. Sorry your back is bugging you. Maybe a good massage can help unstiffin it? I guess since I have been doing my exercising now for almost 2 months straight I am in a habit. I love that. Sounds like a habit I want to keep.
Well, I am op today writing down every single thing that I eat and or drink. I have done my situps and wieght lifting so far. As soon as I finish here I will go and ride my bike then prepare for my swimming time.
