Kathy, I hope everything's OK.

Froufie, you sound re-energized and on the right track again. Way to go!

We finished planting the garden tonight. It's going to be very nice I think. We had a rabbit fence up from a few years ago, and this year we added deer netting. Darn animals ate half the garden last year. Grr! I hope we get to enjoy most of the produce this year instead of watching the local wildlife eat it.

Going to watch some Survivor with dh tonight and relax. Tomorrow I'm planning and shopping for our little vacation.

Later!

Well, I found out he's alright, so when he gets home I'm gonna strangle him.

He had a wreck on MONDAY! He said he planned on telling me when he got home because he didn't want me to worry! He didn't realize the insurance guy might call; in fact they said someone would call him next week when he got back to town but I guess the claim was referred to a local adjuster and that guy didn't know to wait. It did about $2000 damage to his bike. Thank God he is such a stickler for safety. He won't get on it without a helmet, jacket with armor in the back, long pants, gloves, etc. Plus the friend is a MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) instructor in Modesto, so I have no doubts that they exercise caution at all times. This was just an instance of going a teeny bit into the gravel during a turn and then just wiping out. He has ridden for years and years, and used to race as well, so he definitely knows what he's doing. It was a fluke thing. Anyway he's fine.

I made a very pretty "practice" potholder -- blue and yellow. I purposely made it in colors that won't match my kitchen so I'll be forced to give it away. The first one is always a little funky but after I've made 6-8 they look darn near professional! As if that's possible! I don't know why but these things are my favorite ever. I prefer them over any other potholder I've ever used.

Congrats on that garden, Angela. I had a big one last year but we decided not to do it again this year. I'll probably plant some tomatoes and peppers in containers but since it looks like we're going to have a busy summer at work (with possibly lots of overtime ... sort of like a few months ago) I won't be able to maintain another big one. I love fresh vegetables though; there's nothing better. I guess I'll have to hit the farmer's market every week.

Frouf, you're doing fine! I have no doubts that your determination will get you right back where you want to be. How was therapy last night? And good luck to your DD in the recital!

Oh and as for dinner ... I had to go to the grocery store for drinks for work, and the one I went to has a chinese food deli. I got some orange chicken and fried rice, and when I got home I divided it into three dishes -- one to eat then, one for my little DD when she gets home from camping in the morning, and one for my big DD to have when she gets home from work tonight. That worked out pretty well, except I wasn't hungry so I didn't eat my tonight portion. At least I avoided some really bad choices I was thinking about: Mexidips and Chips from Taco Bueno, or fried shrimp from Long John Silver's. I only have two more days of wild eating before DH comes back, and then I have to be good because I'm putting that boy on a strict diet. He has GOT to lose weight, and if I have to plan and prepare and feed it to him, then I will.

ok.. I have decided that I LOVE CORE! I decided to jump on the scale today(hard fight not to weigh myself everyday) and the scale shows I have lost 7pounds since Monday. This week is my first real week doing core. I have not used any activity points or flexpoints... I have never lost this much in a week let alone in 3 days. I know, it has to be water weight, but this is the best feeling ever. especially since I am fighting to lose the 18pounds I regained. Do you think this is possible or is my scale broke. This definitely makes me want to keep OP and I cant wait until my official weigh in on Monday.

It's definitely possible, Anna. Some of it is water weight but some of it is certain to be nasty old fat! Keep up the great work and you will be rewarded. Do you know how close to WW scale your scale is normally? I've heard that humidity can affect a scale which is why I try hard not to get on mine too often. Just keep doing whatever you are doing. Congratulations. Can you weigh in on Monday? My WW is closed for the holiday.

So Kath, is Judd's bike wrecked? How will he get home?

7 pounds in the first week is definitely possible. I think a couple other ladies on this board had that happen. Not me though!

I was hefting 40 pound bags of topsoil last night, and it occurred to me while I was struggling with them: I have lost more weight than one of these bags. Wow! No wonder I have more energy now! It was a real eye-opener to me.

Kathy, I'm glad your dh is OK. I would have strangled him for scaring me like that!

I'm going vacation shopping today - gotta get diapers, sunscreen, swimsuits for dh and oldest dd (those size 4 suits I have just won't fit this 6 1/2 year old anymore!), and maybe some Nair for me. I am still planning on wearing shorts with my swimsuit - the stretch marks are quite unsightly at any size. Plus, I have such sensitive skin, if I can avoid any shaving, I will!

I'd better go and make dd's school lunch now...

Angela, I have some real sensitive skin too. I found Venus Divine blades to be very, very nice. Expensive, but nice.

Hello chicks!! I have missed out on pages and pages and pages here....but I think I have read through and caught up on the activities of your lives!! It is a slow day at work today, so far only half of our 6 staff are here, so not much going on. In fact, we have the door locked! Keep those clients out!
DH and I had a wonderful time last night. Thank you so much for all of your suggestions. I saw many of your suggestions were things that I thought about getting...but didn't. I was bad. But not as bad as I could have been! I ordered the chicken marsala, which is at least not a cream sauce. Left quite a bit of the pasta on my plate but it was still not a good Core choice. But at least I didn't order a pasta dish with garlic cream sauce, my absolute fav. I did eat the bread however (wow! yummy!) but drank a diet coke and water. Passed up the desert tray that our waitress brought by (difficult!) and ate a handful of dh's m&m's during the movie. We went to see Star Wars. How romantic, right? We both really wanted to see it though, and don't have many opportunities to go to the movies. Actually, it was kind of romantic....our first real date was to the movies to see the re-release of the first Star Wars (I guess its the fourth one now) back about 8 years ago. So it was a nice remembrance of our beginnings.
We found out yesterday that the church wants us (yes, both of us!) to come to dinner at someone's house, so that the search committee can meet both of us and "get to know us"....so whatever that means! Hopefully it is a good sign. Actually, someone we know spoke to someone who was part of the committee that interviewed Aaron and told our friend that Aaron really blew them away with some of his responses. So things are looking up in the job search!!!

Kathy, so glad to hear that your DH is okay. How scary, especially with him being so far away. Now you can thoroughly ring his neck when he gets home.

Frouf, the drama never ends for you does it? Good luck getting back on the wagon...I'm still running alongside somewhere.

Anna, CONGRATS!!!

Angela, good luck with your garden. I miss having a yard to have a garden in!

Well I guess that I should go and get some work done! Chat with you all later!

Vickie, he drove his truck with the bike in the back so the trip home won't be affected. He said when he gets home we'd discuss whether or not to fix it.

I'll be out in the lab for the rest of the day, but will be back on here tonight. Everybody have a great day!

First and Foremost......Kathy glad to hear Judd is ok....thank God, NOW you can smack him in the head!!
I hope everyone is doing well and you all have a great weekend.
I am no longer doing core with the start of my new week. Talked with my leader today (took the day off) it just is not working for me. Looking at my book, I lose better on points. More options to play with and I like and NEED that. I know, I know the 35WPA, but that doesn't work for me with Core...go figure!! I may consider counting points the Wendie Plan way (points already established each day) ....that is what I did from June to Sept 04 (hurricane season) and lost all that I regained and then some.....Oct I started Core "just to try" and failed miserably, and I have been unsuccessful ever since, as you all know. Either way, Wendie Plan which IS WW Points, or Counting Points, that is the way I have to go. I don't have much to lose and this should have been OFF months ago!! Ridiculous!! The size 10's are creeping into 12's and I just can't deal with that, I am soooo uncomfortable in my own skin I was a 16 long enough - I can't go back there again I just can't
Plus I like feeling a little "hungry" makes me feel light but trust me I am eating what I should be for the day!!
I have not and probably will not ever have that Satisfied/Full thing down and probably never will. So why fight it. I need portion control and BEING in control, instead of second guessing... "Ok I'm satisfied now, but I'll go back for more later"....can't do it, and this up down up down thing has proven that.
Portion control works better for me. I have been at this too long to screw up now. UP, Down, UP Down....Ridiculous I tell you!! These pounds will start to multipy themselves soon if this keeps up and I want to see the scale trending down.
I did something right counting losing 55 lbs so it's BACK TO BASICS for me.....portion control, measuring, jouranaling....basic training
Well that's my story for the weekend....hope you all have a great one....It is hot as here and will be all weekend. We have a BBQ to go to but I have realized that socializing doesn't constitute eating out of control. I already know what I am going to have there BUT I just may bring my own 1 pt hotdog and 1 pts hotdog bun If not I'll look in my CFC for the points of a hotdog / and still bring my own bun and 1 serving (1PT) FF pringles or Light Lays 1 0z= 1 PT
Hope you all have a great successful weekend.....As you now know I did not meet my own Memorial Day challenge but now I am challenging myself for July 4th Weekend Goal......AND.... I am going to try and walk on Tues and Friday evenings, OR Friday evening and Sundays, this way Frank and I could do it together....which he would just love - honestly. Hey it's a start...

Linda, it sounds like you have relief and a great deal of resolve. I'm glad that you are making a change that you feel is best for you. I can't seem to figure out which plan works best for me, my discipline has stunk on both. But I'm glad that you are figuring things out for you. It sounds like you are really ready to get going with your weight loss. Good for you! And good luck with your 4th of July challenge. You can do it!!

My Niece just invited us to a BBQ on Memorial Day. She's making ww pasta salad and I'm bringing sirloin burgers and buns and Core swee and sour coleslaw. I think I might also surprize her with some Core deviled eggs.

Gotta go eat brunch now! Just got off the treadmill and I have PT at 1:00. Better shower too or the therapist won't be able to get close enough to do the therapy!

Linda, you have to do what is right for you. I have two friends who don't think they could ever do Core. They need portion control too. Good Luck!

Talk with you all later.

Thanks to everyone for their support - while I did eat a few non-core items at the potluck dinner, I did better than I would have had I not taken some of your suggestions into account. The two things I could not avoid was the fabulous ceasar salad (yes w/real garlicky amazing dressing!!!) and the FRESH HOMEMADE BAKED BREAD! (what a treat). Also had a 1/2 devilled, a spoonful of some eggplant dish, and a bit of ricotta lasagne. Lots of diet coke also filled me up. I avoided the fattening pies and cakes and headed straight for the fresh fruit platter, but was not that hungry so just nibbled some grapes, pineapple and strawberries.

Got to the dress rehearsal as it was ending - dd was there w/2 friends. Her dad left as he was tired and I was driving kiddies home (dropping one off at the other's place for pickup)...and right before we get in the car the 2 girls REALIZE that they had left their backpacks in ex's car!!!! Just what we needed, so we had to do a detour to his place first - get the backpacks, and then drive everyone home. I was already so tired, and this did not help. so this morning I am feeling it quite a bit, and my eyes look a bit red and tired looking (to match the big bags under my eyes!).

Scale does not seem to be moving in the right direction for me and I can't face another gain - after gaining 3 lbs last week! The best I can hope for this week is staying the same - how pitiful is that? Can't walk now at lunchtime as it is raining so I will have to be diligent and get on the treadmill at home tonight! (dh is out so this should be doable!).

Anna - CONGRATS on an awesome loss - yes it is for real and you will be smiling ear to ear come official weigh in day!

Vickie - good luck w/the PT and the bbq sounds yummy. I am very impressed w/your consistent exercise plan and wish I could be as dedicated as you are!

Melissa - sounds like you did great at your anniversary dinner - and how appropriate to go see Star Wars. The "dinner interview" sounds nervewracking yet promising (I would probably spill red wine on everyone or use the wrong fork or something!). I would give them a core menu ahead of time and tell them they must cook everything to your exact specifications! or else!

Kathy - bet you are breathing a sigh of relief - glad your dh is okay! My dh also has a bike (altho currently out of commission) and is also extremely safety conscious with full gear (and hates when he sees others riding without taking the right precautions). I can understand that sometimes these things happen but boy it can be heart stopping! I would kill my dh too for not telling me!

Linda - you do what you have to do - the best thing is knowing what works for you!!!...and this is not always such an easy accomplishment.

Angela - have fun shopping!...and you bet you should be proud of not lugging that extra weight around - like a little extra person off your back!

Now for today's challenge (life is never boring right?).....I forgot we have a wine & cheese party at work this afternoon (did I mention there are still hunks of leftover chocolate cake w/icing in our kitchen today??) and I am a bit nervous about it. I brought a bottle of red wine, there is also some white, some pate, cheese, crackers and regular soft drinks! I would like to have some wine - but am afraid this will loosen my "inhibitions" enuf to give myself permission to eat the wrong stuff! I may have a nibble or two of cheese , and bring along a diet soft drink (and yes everyone will say something about that you can be sure!). Of course w/weigh in looming tomorrow am I should just put a piece of tape across my mouth and be done with it!

Will try and drink more water and think "light" thoughts.

Frouf
