Question about popcorn on Core

  • I thought the core plan was supposed to be somewhat of a low carb plan. If so, how is it that you can have popcorn- as much as you want like any other core plan (within reason, I know). But popcorn is definitely a carb so why is it okay?
  • Many carbs are allowed on the core plan - such as popcorn, whole wheat pasta, couscous, buckwheat, barley, brown rice, etc. as well as fruits and veggies. The difference is a) these are mainly "good" carbs (no sugar, no white flour) which help maintain blood sugar at an even level without the fluctuations the other carbs cause, and b) as mentioned you don't eat as much as you want - and there are some restrictions such as either pasta/rice/potatoes only once a day (more than once and you need to count them) and cereal only w/milk.

    Hope that answers your questions!

  • To expound on what Frouf said (and what I posted on your thread on the general board) Core is not a low carb diet it is a lower processed/refined carb lifestyle. It is teaching you to eat good carbs rather than rely on processed/refined carbs. The processed/refined carbs are processed by your body quickly usually leaving one yearing for more food.
