Default Your assignment is ...

find me something to eat here!!

http://www.redhotandblue.com/menu.htm

We're having lunch catered in tomorrow and I *have* to participate because it's (1) a sell-off celebration and (2) a going-away thing for DH's best friend. It would be tacky of me to take my own lunch in, and just as tacky not to eat because there are lots of ex-WWers in there who haven't done so well and I would feel like I was acting superior if I ate my Core lunch in front of them eating all sorts of bad stuff! Whew ... talk about a run-on sentence!! But does that make sense? Sometimes I feel like they look at me thinking I'm trying to make THEM look bad by continuing on WW. Oh well ... anyway the bottom line is that I will eat my Maltomeal for breakfast, and maybe have a snack like hardboiled egg around 11:00 so that I won't be toooo hungry by the time the luncheon starts, which is 11:30.

Suggestions??

Ack! That online menu is NO help. Okay, here's what they'll be getting and what I have to choose from:

Pork
Chicken
Sausage
Sliced beef
Potato salad (with eggs)
Cole Slaw
Baked beans
Green beans (but full of bacon grease)
Onions, peppers, pickles -- might be my best bet to have a big plate of that!

i would go with the chicken as long as it is not the pulled chicken
then i would have cole slaw and possibly the baked beans with lots of onion and peppers on the side...skip the potatoe salad, sausage and the pork if it is pulled.......tempted with the beef tho

have fun and good luck, let us know what you had

Frouf's menu selection of the day:

Definitely the chicken or beef - depends on how they are prepared?
beans are the lesser of several evils....can't you get a salad or something?
coleslaw might be okay - but usually made w/mayo or oil and/or sugar?

Definitely have a snack (protein) before you go!

Good luck!

Dear Lord, Kathy, I looked at the online menu and have NEVER seen a more unhealthy selection! LOL! I'd have the sliced beef and chicken (if not fried or barbeque). I'd actually choose the potato salad over the coleslaw or beans because I think the potato salad will have less sugar. I wouldn't care what those women think. This is about you. You said they were all acting *****y anyway.

Thanks everybody. I can't get a salad because it's being brought in.

Maybe if I stick with the beef (and chicken if it looks like it's not coated with stuff) and a teeny bit of potato salad or maybe not ... but definitely lots of onions and pickles ... hopefully I'll be okay. I always dread things like this. We do it about every other week, seems like, but usually I don't participate. Tomorrow's different though because I have to.

I'll be sure to report back!

Kathy---What did you end up getting? A rehab rep brought red, hot and blue once for us and she brought the pulled pork on buns. It was sauceless. It was SO good. This was pre WW though so I happily devoured it all. LOL. What did you end up getting?

Are you in Dallas? I am a TX native but have been in Greenville, SC this past year. We are moving back though the end of Feb to Plano. YAY.

I am in Mansfield, but work in Arlington about a block from the Texas Rangers' Ballpark in Arlington (excuuuuse me, Ameriquest Field) and also across the field from Six Flags. Welcome back to Texas soon!!

I ate a few slices of the beef, and then loaded up on onions and pickles. In fact, I took the rest of the onions home -- a huge bag of sliced onions that I will carmelize and freeze for soup. But anyway, back to the lunch ... I had also taken a roma tomato and container of sliced cucumbers with me to work the day before so I had some of that with my lunch too. My big plan of taking a deviled egg to eat before the lunch started failed when I accidentally left the egg at home! Oopsie!

I was able to completely ignore the blackberry cobbler and banana pudding, as well as the sausage, potato salad, beans, etc. I was surprisingly good!

Good for you on resisting all the bad bad things! If it makes you feel any better, I almost always bring my own food when we do those kinds of group things at work. I even brought my own salad to a big *** pizza party once. Frankly, I don't care what they all think..and neither should you!

Kick butt on making good chioces! :P

Thank you, my dear spring! It felt good to behave! And you're absolutely right ... who cares what they think? I'm the one who has to live with the consequences of eating poorly!
