I'm not aware of any pre-made ones that are core - don't they have fat in them? check the ingredients - if they are made of all core things, they they would be core.

Hi Everyone
Just a quick "HI"
Hope everyone is doing ok.
I had a little loss last night. 1/2 a pound. But I guess that is better than gaining.
Has anyone ever made cornbread with pumpkin. Our leader was talking about it last night. Said just use pumpkin and the cornbread mix. Just wondered how that would be. Hubby likes cornbread. Thought maybe that would be good for him.
Had some snow last night and today. They ended up canceling school. Didnt think the roads were that bad. Know when son came home last night. He said the interstate was bad. So guess they didnt get on the back roads to clear them for the buses. We didnt get much snow. Maybe a couple of inches. But we did have some sleet mixed in. Then I heard the weather man say there was some black ice out there.
Well ladies I am going to go and catch up with everyone.
Hope everyone is doing ok. And being safe on the roads with the snow and all.
Thinking of everyone.

hmmm...are doves core? I'm sure they are, but not so sure about teenagers!

I didn't stay low calorie today, but didn't go crazy and was almost all Core. Maybe tomorrow. I was disappointed not to lose this week, but I'll keep at it.

Jaime, I don't know what I'm doing ;) I'm 63 and, you know, we are supposed to need fewer calories as we age, so I'm trying to get used to that, without getting too hungry. Also, this past week I haven't exercised as much as I have been doing, so it won't hurt to have fewer calories. But, I did walk over an hour and tried to really pick up the pace.

I looked at the DIY Christmas link and enjoyed the ideas. I normally have rather low key holidays anyway because I hate getting frantic when we are supposed to be relaxing and enjoying the season and one another.

Have a good night all.

Rhonda

Hey ladies. Quick question. I mentioned before that I wanted to switch to Flex just to change it up. Would I be able to go on Flex for 2 weeks and switch back to Core? Do you think that would do the trick? I'm 11 pounds away from lifetime and 26 away from goal.

Thanks!!

Thank you.I just found out that I could use the E-Tools to check it out. There does not seem to be any corn tortillas that are core, but most are only 1 point for 2 so I can handle that.

There is one, brand name Neuvo Leon, that is just corn, salt and lime. The are quite good! I don't know if they are just local to the Chicago area.

I found the link. They are in Indiana and we are lucky enough to have them in our Jewel/Albertsons in the Chicago area.

Sammi: you can do anything you like! It might "work" for you and it might not. But why not try? Consider doing "flore" as we call it. Count your points but eat mostly Core foods.

How are you doing on staying away from alcoholic drinks with your friends? Remember that alcohol is mostly sugar, or converts to sugar. That's the difficult part from a weight-loss perspective. To say nothing of the fact that drinking goes hand in hand with snacking much of the time! Donna and I are going all week with no wine. If we can, you can ;)

Good luck!

Good Morning Ladies:)

Wow its very cold:brr: up here,I had to take up my fleece night gown to keep warm.We have our fireplace running full time this A.M.

The only time we're going out today is to cerebrate our 42nd wedding anniversary at our local restaurant. Going to try to stay on the core plan as much as possible when eating,as I have a W-I this Friday.

SLOAN-Thanks:thanks: I can't believe that we made it[42] with all the sickness that surrounded us. No we haven't seen snow:snowglo: yet ,but the winds hollowing that our shatter on out winter and the lite post blew over.

JAIME-Yes 42 years is a long time nowadays.Oh my your girls are head of me, I have no idea:idea: what I'm giving the family. The only thing Leo & I planned to do is to give our kids an American Express gift card so they can buy what they want. I just bought several fleece vest from LL Beams I love there winter clothing.

SANDRA-They sound like morning doves. I used to bake[cookies & stollens] but some how I don't bake anymore.I like 30 min cooking better, plus I not temped to eat the goodies if I don't bake. Going to make a pumpkin dessert that has canned pumpkin and cool whip in it and thats all.Thats going to be our thanksgiving :turkey: day dessert. Haven't though about Christmas:tree:,I just might just buy the stollen.

COCO-Congrats :carrot:on your .5 weight loss :carrot: remember every little bit helps. Cornbread make from pumpkin Wow I have to look into this. I still have a box of Polenta in my cupboard. Now I know what to make over the holidays. Thanks for the:idea: idea.

SAMMI-I not sure :shrug:but when I was still going to my meeting I thought that you could switch plans but you must complete the whole week before switching.

Have to go will come by later ans see what you gals are up to.

sammi861 11-19-2008 10:39 AM

Rhonda: Congrats on 42 years! :) I have not had a drink w/ alcohol in 2 weeks. I think I'm going to stick w/ this until either Christmas or New Years Eve. I have found that drinking has slowed down my progress.. It's hard though when you go to school in a small town and everyone always wants to go to the bars. Oh well, movie nights are just as fun I suppose. Good idea with "flore", I think I will give it a try. I just need more variety... I've had a craving for a bagel w/ chunky peanut butter and lean cuisine pizza for a long time now! :)

Maryann- I knew you had to stick to the plan all week, I just wasn't sure if there was a specific amount of time you had to be on a plan. Thanks :)

Tejas 11-19-2008 10:53 AM

Sammi: it's Maryann who gets the :congrat: for 42 years of marriage. All I've done for 42 years in a row is breathe!

But, good for you for disavowing the alcohol for a while. And, if you have a craving, just indulge...once. I had a bagel last week and was surprised at how many calories they have. It wasn't worth it  But, peanut butter is always worth it to me!

Off to work now...

Good Afternoon All,

2 days OP for me. It seems like such a small achievement but right now it's huge. I did vary from plan a little, I had a different afternoon snack than planned and wanted something crunchy at night so I had popcorn, which I figured was better than the chips and dip I've been eating for the last month.

Went to ww and was up again, but I knew I would be. We'll see what Friday says that's the number I've been tracking here. Our leader was kind of funny, she's all excited about something coming the week of Dec 7 but couldn't tell us what it is (I'm guessing it's the new plan they were talking about on the other thread), it was pretty humorous. I think I like this new leader, I've been switching around a lot trying to find one that gels with me. Unfortunately I fell off the wagon about the time I started going on Tuesdays so.....But I enjoyed this week's meeting, she deviated from the stock message and did one on the 9 steps of WW (based on the 12 steps of AA), it was a different approach from normal which after so many years sometimes seems old hat.

Well I should probably get something accomplished today. So have a great day everyone.

Hi everyone. Hope you are all doing well. I didn't make it to wi today - too many things going on at work to make it.. Thats the one downfall of doing ww at work - sometimes work gets in the way! Oh well. Due to the holiday they aren't having the meeting next week - I'm out anyway. I'm determined to be hard core for the next week. If i do that then I'll maybe have a planned splurge on Thursday. We go to my SIL's who is on WW as well. The only really none core thing will be my MILs pies and of course the wine :) My weight is holding its own this week per my scale, which is OK since I had my chinese fix this weekend.

Rhonda, congrats for breathing!

Maryann, congrats on 42 years!! The news had stories of the first snow on the Cape - you didn't get it? Thats good. I heard there was a bad crash from it as well. Its too early for this cold -- even for me!

Sloan, I think your goal of holding steady through year end is a good one. I'm thinking I may try after Thanksgiving just to maintain through year end. There just seems to be so many things going on weekly through December.

Sammi - have you tried club soda with cranberry or orange juice splashed in when at the bars? Its not 100% core, but the small bit of juice is better than alchol. I finished my latest bottle of wine last night. I need to not open another this week (Yes, I do have an open bottle on the counter for my nightly glass :) ). Maybe I need to put the tea pot on the counter instead. It does make a difference!

I'm very curious as to what is changing in the program. I may search around the Canadian or UK sites to see if there is anything. Rhonda, do you go to meetings? Just wondering if things were introduced to you sooner.

Well, off to wrap up for the day and head home. BBL.

Tejas 11-19-2008 06:35 PM

Hi All:

No, I don't go to meetings, so I don't know if anything has been introduced here in Canada or not.

But, we do have snow, for what that's worth! :brr:

Tech, tea pot is a good idea. Mine is on the counter and I give DH a call from my cell phone as I'm walking home and say "plug in the kettle". My tea is ready when I walk in the door...nice.

Donna, I won't even look at scales right now.

Maryann, congratulations on 42 years of marriage. Enjoy yourself.

We worked in the yard for hours today readying 3 new beds. Curtis finished framing them. I helped then planted strawberries and blackberries in the "berry patch." Life is good.

coco99 11-19-2008 06:57 PM

Hi Everyone
BEACHBUM Congrats on 42 years. Happy Anniversary. Hope you had a wonderful day.
Its cold here. But not snowing. Most of the snow melted today. But guess some more on the way. Not sure how much or anything.
Well I am going to get off here.
Going to go and put up our Christmas tree before son gets home from school. Been telling him. I wasnt going to put the tree up this year. But he said we are. So thought I would surprise him.
So better get busy.
