Core Menus - November

Since the menu thread doesn't get a whole lot of attention, maybe we can have monthly ones instead of weekly? I didn't see a recent thread so thought I'd start up a new one.... These things really help keep me on track.

Thursday:
B: 2 eggs, 1/2 of a wrap, salsa (0.5)
L: lentil soup
S: plain yogurt, orange
D: potato, egg [my other planned dinner was a disaster :(]
S: a tiny bit of B&J ice cream (3 - even a tiny bit is so much!)

=3.5 pts

xdominic89x 11-14-2008 12:05 AM

I will be converting to Core starting next week, going to use up the food I have on hand now for Core. Look forward to seeing you here, suitejudyblueeyes!

suitejudyblueeyes 11-14-2008 09:14 AM

 Hey Dominic!

Friday:
B: egg, toast (1), banana
L: salmon, carrot, kale, couscous salad, honeycrisp apple
S: plain yogurt
D: potentially the same as lunch. Will update if not.

=1 pt, -3AP earned (jog)

chrgrl 11-14-2008 09:38 PM

B: shredded wheat and bran with skim milk, cinnamon, and splenda
L: quinoa with chicken, green peas, and candied sesame teriyaki sauce (1 pt)
s: FF cottage cheese with pineapple
D: pork chop with A1 sauce; baked potato brushed with olive oil (to make the skin crispy!) plus lite butter (2 pts), garlic salt, paprika, and pepper
s: skim milk plus 1 T cocoa and 2 packets splenda

I also exercised, but since I don't eat my activity points I don't typically bother to calculate them

I started Core about a week and a half ago. I lost 4.5 my first week and I weigh in on Tuesdays. I've done WW before and lost about 46 pounds, but I did Flex back then. I'm just sick of counting at this point.

suitejudyblueeyes 11-15-2008 07:07 AM

Welcome to Core chrgrl! Congrats on your loss so far, you are looking great! I'm with you on the 'sick of counting' thing... Glad you found your way here.

suitejudyblueeyes 11-15-2008 09:29 AM

Saturday:

Today is going to have to be a non-planning day - I will keep track of what I have eaten and update accordingly. I am meeting a long-lost friend this afternoon and we may do lunch or coffee or something.

S: apple
B: oatmeal, soy milk, banana
L: salmon, couscous, kale, carrot. grapes.
S: banana, pb (3 pts)
D: egg drop soup, ben & jerry's (5 pts)

=8 fps used this week

Tejas 11-15-2008 02:06 PM

I'll join in the menu thread.

Saturday:

Slept through breakfast!

It's 2 PM and so far I've just had coffee with milk, an apple and a banana.

I'm having dinner at a friend's and she is serving pork chops.

I'm making this a low calorie weekend as much as possible, having splurged at a party on Thursday night.

Rhonda

chrgrl 11-15-2008 10:11 PM

s: coffee with skim milk, cocoa, and splenda
B: shredded wheat and bran with skim milk, splenda, cinnamon
2 scrambled eggs with ketchup
s: sugar cookie (4 pts)
L: meatless core chili with soy cheese
D: spaghetti squash with 93% lean ground beef, spaghetti sauce, and soy cheese
s: soy milk with core crockpot apple pudding

today i've been in a funk. suddenly i started thinking, "this is stupid...why am i doing this? this is never going to work." i am depressed because i had lost 46 pounds at one point, and i have let myself gain back all but 15 of those pounds. argh.

tomorrow i'm going to my mother-in-law's house for her birthday, and i know there will be all non-core food there. i've only used about 10 WPA's this week (less than that, if i'm honest - i never take AP's into consideration), so i know that all i have to do is eat small portions and i should be fine. i continue to freak out anyway and almost pulled a "well if i'm going to cheat tomorrow, might as well stop today".....but i managed to stop myself after 2 pretzels.

ok, i'll stop with the negative stuff now. weekends tend to do this to me. i get out of my "routine" and feel all messed up.

suitejudyblueeyes 11-16-2008 08:03 AM

I'm the same way with weekends... I struggle to keep my eating OP because I'm out of my structured work environment which forces me to eat at certain times and plan way in advance and stuff. Weekends are always my downfall. Good luck with your MIL's birthday.

Sunday's plan:
B1: slice of toast (1)
...then we had pizza, and I ate way too much and felt icky the rest of the day.

=unknown number of points used today, probably the majority of them are gone for the week.

Whoever came up with this thread is brilliant! I find that I go off plan when I get bored with what I eat... seeing how you guys eat, gives me new ideas on how I can shake things up. For example: I had no idea that Shredded Wheat Cereal was core... does it count as a grain? or can we eat it throughout the day?

Vickie 11-21-2008 07:49 AM

You can eat it during the day, but as all dry cereals, you must eat it with milk.

blessedwithsarah 11-21-2008 08:29 AM

For Friday:
bf - 1/2 cup oatmeal and banana
lunch - core chili and salad
snack - apple or pear

i believe you are limited to eating it only once per day, and you must eat it with FF milk or FF plain yogurt

chrgrl 11-21-2008 09:09 PM

L: salad with romaine, green peas, cucumber, chicken, and FF raspberry vinaigrette; meatless chili

WAP for this week so far: 19/35

today i tried to go from level 1 to level 2 in the 30 day shred....unbelievable! mostly i just stared at the TV in disbelief about what was expected of me.

s: roasted chickpeas

suitejudyblueeyes 11-22-2008 10:27 PM

Rest days are good :)

Not sure why I haven't been posting menus, I have been wonderfully OP lately. Well, until I made bread for DH today and ate some :p (It was worth it. Yum.)

L: salad, chicken & vegetable soup
S: homemade bread (5)
D: crockpot ginger chicken and vegetables
S: soy milk

chrgrl 11-23-2008 04:43 PM

today i made this recipe for bourbon chicken, and it was really good! i used diet orange pop instead of the apple juice. i must be a picky eater, because i am usually disappointed with a lot of the recipes i try, but i thought this one was a keeper. my husband liked it, too!

chrgrl 11-23-2008 09:45 PM

B: shredded wheat and bran with splenda, cinnamon, and skim milk
L: brown rice with bourbon chicken (1 pt)
D: taco salad* (1pt)
snacks: popcorn, cocoa

*i remembered something i used to make a long time ago that was easily made into core....just mix up some chopped tomato (if you take out the seeds it works better), black olives (i just buy the sliced ones), red pepper, onion, and kidney beans (rinsed) into a bowl and mix it all up. you can eyeball the amounts and substitute other things you like. then, when you're ready to eat it, just add FF cheese (i prefer soy cheese myself), FF catalina dressing, and doritos (optional, but they add a nice crunch. i bought the baked ones and only used half a serving). it's really yummy! i guess you could probably add some lean ground beef, but i'm just not a huge meat eater and already had chicken today.

suitejudyblueeyes 11-24-2008 07:41 AM

I love throw-together bean salad things like that. Sounds good, though unsure about the addition of Doritos

I have to buckle down and keep myself focused these next couple days if I want to lose anything this week (what a novel idea).

B: oatmeal w/splenda and cinnamon
S: banana
L: southwestern vegetable soup, homemade bread (2)
S: ff yogurt
D: pumpkin smoothie, bread with pb (4)

E: 30 min run
