Good Morning Ladies:)

Thanks for you for all the the special prayers that you sent us thats wha t worked.

We are still on :cloud9: this morning, and decided to celebrate  our victory over this dreadful disease by going out to our local BBC pub/restaurant.Right after tomorrows W-I.

PAULA-I guess one day I will venture:yes: into Boston again, now that Leo is better and gets this strength up. He always want to walk the Freedom :running:Trail,so maybe this time around we'll just do that. Sorry:sorry: about your gain, but heres to Next week.

DONNA-Hope everything works out with your DH:yes: like it worked for Leo. No I never got to do my power walking, something else came up in its place but I did some indoor :exercise: exercise instead.

STEPH-Weather is getting colder:brr: took out the A/C's in the bedroom & loft as the winds are alway coming in that direction. Sorry :sorry:didn't have the chance to walk like I planned.

NANCY-What you posted to Rhonda about adding protein & fiber to your oatmeal is a wonderful Idea  Protein & Fiber are carb busters. I should have thought of that being on the South Beach before coming back to WW.Fat is also a carb buster also.

SANDRA-Happy:) that your back on the wagon. I 'm counting points also,to keep me in track at how many calories I eating while on the core.

RHONDA-Thats what I was trying to tell my leader about the low calories per day[800-900c] would bring you into a starvation mode, she said that was silly as WW doesn't believe in starvation modes. I went exploring and I found what she was right on the science section on the WW site said
The idea that "not eating enough" causes the body to stop losing weight because it goes into "starvation mode" is a popular myth among dieters.
Metabolism Slows During Calorie Restriction
Restricting calories during weight loss lowers metabolism1 because the body becomes more efficient, requiring fewer calories to perform the necessary daily functions for survival. Consequently, this can slow (but not stop) the anticipated rate of weight loss.

COCO-Big congrats:congrat: on your 3 lbs that awesome.

TRACIE-Congrats::carrot: on your 2 lbs. You doing great losing good numbers after your vacation.

SAMMI-OH GEE!! you really top it losing 8.4 this week, thats a double congrats:cheer3::cheer2::woohoo::cheer3::cheer2: to you.

Once a gain thanks for all your kind words & prayers that you said for us.

Hugs:)

Morning:

Maryann, I wasn't suggesting that you stop losing weight because the body holds on to fat, or any other such idea. I was concerned about eating at a low (or CR) level for a long time was not a good idea.

As I understand it, a CR diet is actually not about a specific calorie level. It's about reducing the percentage of calories to a level below what your body needs. So, if you need 2000 calories a day, you might reduce that by 25% and legitimately be on a CR diet.

But, reducing calories to an extreme like 800 or 900 a day is not likely to be healthy for humans over a long term. Maybe for animals, but not necessarily humans. Most research has been short-term and on non-humans.

I just read the Wikipedia, the Mayo Clinic, and Science Daily websites about this, and I'm not convinced that EXTREME CR over a LONG time is healthy. On one of those sites mentioned that some researchers suggest that having intermittent fasting days is one reasonable approach to reducing calories.

Oh well, it's all quite fascinating, isn't it?

Hope you all have a great OP day!

Rhonda

Hey chicks, I'm finally back at school. DH had a terrible time for about a week after his surgery, but he is on the mend now. We still aren't sleeping as we should, so I'm really tired. I have stayed on core pretty faithfully though, and am happy to say that I am staying around 130 lbs. I have only six pounds to lose, so I'm really close.

I've read some of the posts, and am so excited to read about Leo! I know that is such a relief, Maryann. I'm thinking of you all daily, and hope to get back into posting regularly soon.

I did check with our local cable company about internet service, and they say it will be 2-3 months before we could get hooked up. Oh well, posting at school will have to do for a while longer.

I've got to get off of here for now. I'm so proud of the losses I've read about! Hang in there chickies!!

Hi there, Chickies. It's a gorgeous day here. All is greenafter two days of rain. Life is good. I'm still not exactly OP. Baby steps. Baby steps.

beach bum 10-16-2008 05:28 PM

RHONDA-No :no:I agree with you, that 800-900 per day is too low also. I used to complain to my leader that 1000 cal 20 pts was to low for me on the flex plan. She disagreed saying that the only way I would lose. Well to her surprise I gained all the weight back. I think WW is wrong saying that. I like the core better,as I eating core foods but eat around 1200 1500 cal per day.Let see it it worked at my W-I tomorrow.

SLOAN-Thanks, we are very happy about the news.Sorry about your DH not feeling well after surgery.Wish I was 130 I'm 30 lbs more than you,and its going to take some time before I reach those numbers. Congrats on being close to your goal. Thats fantastic.

SANDRA-You get back, even if it baby steps.I love this time of year when the leaves are turning such beautiful colors.

Have a great evening See you tomorrow morning.

Hugs :)

Hi everyone. Hope all is well with you. Sloan, congrats on keeping at 130! I always seem to gain in really stressful situations. You not gaining is an accomplishment!

Work has been crazy busy, but I'm sticking to plan. I did have a glass of wine and some whole wheat pretzels last night -- logged it all in this morning. So far so good. Got to get moving, check in with you all later.

Oh, made the sticky chicken. I think the 1 cup of dressing and 1 cup of preserves made way too much sauce for me. The tast was great, next time I'm going to play with it a bit. DH and DD loved it! Even better. DD didn't want to eat it although she made the sauce. But I cut it up into small chunks and called it sticky chicken nuggets. She ate them all -- go figure.

Tejas 10-17-2008 08:32 AM

Good morning:

Speaking of beautiful colors, we really have them here in Ontario. Lots of red Maples now. I'll miss this although not the 40F mornings we're also having.

I had to attend a reception last night and want to brag a little. I ate only the Core appetizers and was glad they had some. I drank no wine, but not because I'm "good." It was an event for students and none was served! I did eat some of a slice of pizza that DH had ordered for his dinner, but not all of it.

I've done some exercise every day but yesterday, in addition to my regular walking at least 3 miles a day. I'm going to start an exercise challenge next week: get ready!

Do we have three DH's who either are or have been really sick? I'm thinking about Donna, Sloan and Maryann. Did I miss anyone. It's really tough to help someone through an illness....we are really something, Chickies....

I hope you have a great OP day.

Rhonda

ps:  to Vickie and Froufie!

Hi Ladies:)

Going to give is another day or two to W-I as Leo is taking me out to BBC pub/restaurant to celebrate our bout with cancer.

I'm lucky that BBC has a web page of their menu ordering:
Baked Stuffed Scrod[seafood stuffing[3] in scrod with Lobster sauce[2],French Fries[6] & veggies

Had 35 WPA's -used 33 = 2 left. YIKES!!! Didn't realize I had so my points this week doing on my own,Oh Well Tomorrow starts a new week. Hope it doesn't effect the W-I.

PAULA-Sometimes we have to indulge in carbs & spirits, glad you enjoyed your pretzel and wine.I have to find that sticky chicken recipe sounds so yummy.Do you use the sugar free preserves???

RHONDA-Your really doing great on the core, maybe get serious about it again now that I doing it on my own. I think I had to many points and I'm scared:fr: that its going to effect my weight loss. Don't know any other DH except for Donna & Sloane as Leo is off the list.

Will post and let you know how the luncheon at BBC went.Need you guys more than ever now that I on my own. Wish me luck:luck2you:

Hugs :)

Good Morning All,

I'd like to say :congrat: to all the loosers. And even Sloan for staying the same, when I'm stressed that's sometimes really hard.

Maryanne - that is so great about Leo, unfortunately I still have about 6 months to go.

Sloan - glad your DH is on the mend, if he's anything like mine not being able to do stuff really frustrates him, and I'm sure with rotator cuff surgery he can't use his arm too much.

Sammi - I had to laugh Marquette made Jeopardy last night, and no one got the answer although I thought it was easy  Glad you had a good birthday

Rhonda - Congrats on staying op at the party last night :D I'm up for an exercise challenge, I haven't been doing much the last month and I think I can feel it.

Sandra - Baby steps are good. They are definitely better than falling down

Coco & Tracie -

Vicki - what happened?????

Well this week has been so-so. I chose poorly Tuesday night, I just wasn't feeling well. But Wed I was pretty good, I even went to the gym for the first time all month, but yesterday not so much. Oh well, I'll get there. Baby steps right. On a good note I'm down a half pound for the last 2 weeks :D. Not a lot but I'll take it. My goal right now is to be back where I was before vacation last fall by Thanksgiving, that's 7 more lbs. in 6 weeks I think it's doable if I knuckle down. My sister had her baby on Tues. So that's pretty cool. Today my nephew (new big brother) and mom are coming over and we're going to the "Village" to ride the train and wander around. He hasn't been all summer since I quit and my sister says he's excited.

DH is doing better. If they'd just take the new drain out I think he'd be doing great. The dr. said he probably could have taken it out on Tues if the drs at the hospital had told him to empty and record fluid levels, but since they didn't he needed to track for a few days and if low enough he could take it out today or Mon. I'm hoping for today. Then maybe we'll drive out and take in the colors and visit the baby this weekend. The dr. also said that the "Tumor Board" which is who makes recommendations on the cancer patients treatments, still recommends chemo after the wound heals. He can't say for sure it's up to the oncologist but he figures 3-4 months worth. DH won't see that dr. until after the wound heals probably another couple of weeks.

Well I should get going. I need to grab something to eat and then I'm going to ride to WW.

Have a great day every one. Sorry about the novel.

Hi Chicks! Hope you are all having a core-velous day! I had a crazy eating night, but I'm hangin' in there today. I'm soooooo tired, and that does not help with eating. I think I've joined the club that Rhonda and Vickie are in that involves poor sleep! We must give that club a name!!

My classes are sponsoring a red cross blood drive today, so it's really busy. I've got to go check on how things are progressing. I'll try to check in on y'all later.

Tejas 10-17-2008 07:45 PM

about not sleeping...when I was in NM I mentioned it. My niece and nephew both take Melatonin and have not had any trouble with it. My nephew's wife takes Benadryl from time to time at night. I tried the Benadryl once, and oh my, did I ever sleep.

I'd rather take that than any sleeping meds. I do find that cinammon toast and warm milk with vanilla and Splenda really do help. Of course, it's a point, but it's worth it.

I had a long day today but the eating was really controlled. I'm having a glass of wine tonight, but other than that, it's been a CORE day.

Rhonda

Hi Ladies:)

Got on the scale today and of course I maintained again for 3 weeks now.I guess going too far on the WPA's must have done it. Good thing I didn't gain, going to make my official W-I on Fridays.

DONNA-When the stress:stress: is gone you will be able to lose again.I was hard for me also, but now that I'm stress free it going to take time before I start my losing again .

SLOANE-Sorry:sorry: about your sleepless nights.I'm lucky:luckly: that way I have a 6=7 hr of sleep per night.Thats one thing they stress on the B/L is not having even sleep with stop your weight losses. Hope you find yours soon.

RHONDA-That combo of cinnamon toast, warm milk along with vanilla & splenda sounds like a good formula for:tired: sleeplessness.

Have a good morning or weekend for some

Hugs :)

Hey chickies! Been so busy all day. I've been cooking up a storm. I made a big pot of vegetable beef barley soup, shredded chicken barbecue(using the diet cola sloppy joe recipe), diet cola sloppy joes, taco meat, shredded chicken taco meat, and also shredded barbecue beef and cherry berry jam. Tomorrow I'm making polenta chips, strawberry soup, cottage cheese oatmeal pancakes and possibly some carrot cake muffins. I froze most of it so I can have things ready for lunches and quick dinners when necessary. I am making sure that I have lots of things on hand so I don't eat something that's not core when I'm hungry. Plus I need to go to the grocery store and pick up some fresh fruits and veggies. I am bound and determined to get this weight off. I also got my house cleaned after work last night as I knew I had a lot of cooking to do today. I have been busy!!! I've also been doing laundry. I will definitely sleep good tonight!

Got to get another load out of the dryer and put another one in.

Good Morning Ladies:)

I hope all have a wonderful relaxing Sundays.

Have a big brunch to go to this morning after church.
Was going to wear my pant suit but Leo says to too cold for that. The wind is blowing and then temps are low.Have to now look for a heavier outfit to wear.Don't want to wear my winter coats as our choir sits in front[choir loft is off limits] and there no place to hang our coats except on the alter and thats a no-no.

Other than that everything is fine, have to go to the doctors tomorrow for my 6 month blood test and do I have a list of ???????? for him to solve.

Have to go will be back later

Hugs :)
