Rhonda-I can't remember if you told us or not, but is the car new? If it is, isn't there something the dealer can do? In Tennessee, we have the "LEMON" law. It protects new car buyers from the scenario that you have been in.
|
No such law here that I know of. We should have taken it in to a mechanic before we bought it..but, we didn't..so, we pay :dunno:
|
Rhonda, that just stinks! Does Canada have the equivalent of a State's Attorney or BBB that you could contact?
I'm off to the pool. It's not really hot enough but I want to exercise in there and vacuum the "stuff" out. Having hamburgers and oven fries later with some wax beans. Yum! |
Rhonda-just think, only a few more repairs and you'll have a new car! Might as well look on the bright side. What are you cleaning your wood floors with? Mine need attention.
Vickie-burgers on the grill sound good, but I want someone to cook them for me. I've been busy today, and now I've hit my afternoon "slump". Maybe I should take a nap. I've decided to have the family BBQ at my house for July 4th. I'm going to have the KFC cole slaw, some kind of baked beans, and potato salad that is core. I guess we'll grill burgers, hot dogs, and maybe some tenderloin. Do you chicks have any ideas for other yummies? C ya later! |
Hi there. We're home. We walked for about 2 hours in the heat. We had a good time, saw some friends, and got some sun. I did well with the eating. Think I'm going to make me a new tracker in a few minutes. I'm pumped and ready to get back on track.
Vickie, your dinner sounds summery and delicious. Sloan, we're heading out on the 3rd for the 4th and also for 2 family reunions. That'll mean 3 days in a row of family get togethers around food. |
Sandra-how did the competition go? I hope you :kickbutt: I know that the 4th of July celebration will be okay for me, because it is at my house, and I'll prepare most of the food, but if I were going to two family reunions I can't say that I would be totally on core. I think that sometimes I have given up because I set my goal to stay on "a diet" then ate like crazy at a special function. At our family reunion in August, I plan to eat what ever I want, but in smaller amounts. I feel confident now, mostly because of you chicks, that I'll be back to core the very next day. I know if I am going to make core a lifestyle change, I'm going to have days that I eat off core and then get right back to it. Am I crazy, or does that make sense?
I hope you all are having a great weekend. Nighty night, chickies! |
Hi:
Well, I did suggest that if DH believed that the dealer got to us on the repair bill that he should call the BBB. I don't think he has. We'll compare the invoice about the brake lines with what the dealer said he did and see if that is OK or not. Yes, we are laughing a bit about having a "new" car! Sloanie my wood floors may be the original ones from the 1920's. They are too thin to be refinished so I used this stuff that my niece used on her old floors. It's a two part product by Minwax; hardwood cleaner and hardwood reviver. They are definitely not environmentally friendly, but do I ever have shiny floors now. You can apply them both with a mop but I did it the hard way, sitting on the floor. Surely that's worth a DVD of exercise?! Have a good night everyone. Rhonda |
Sloan, the competition went well. I shot about 30 pts higher than last time. I don't know if I'll win or not. Others will shoot tomorrow. I'll have to watch their online site for scores later. Tomorrow we may go to a different tournament if it's not too wet. Yep, too wet! It's raining right now. Life is good.
I know I won't stay totally CORE at the 2 reunions. My goal is to make visiting my priority. I am a foodaholic. I tend to focus wayyyyy too much on the food. I'm working on myself to change that. I already bought some cute new clothes to wear. I'm thinking that will help me because it will lift my self-esteem. (Am I making sense?) I'll keep ya'll posted on how I do at the "events." Rhonda, I'd love to see photos of your home. Could you e me some? |
Mornin' Y'all
Sandra-you're making perfect sense. I know you'll have a great time at your family gatherings, and you're right, looking cute does lift your self esteem. Rhonda-Thanks for the info about the floor. Do you think it would make stair treads too slippery? Have a lazy Sunday everyone! |
Hi All:
Yes, it is a lazy Sunday. But, I have been to visit my former MIL in the nursing home, have walked about a mile, and have been to the grocery store. Now, to do some aerobics to a DVD. That doesn't sound lazy enough. Sloanie, I don't think I'd use this product on stair treds. It's not as slippery as paste wax, but it does have an effect. I don't know how to get shine but no slip! I've managed to lose 2 pounds over the last week. I can't believe it, but that's what the scales say. I'll take it. Rhonda |
Rhonda-thanks and congrats on the two pounds lost! I'm clumsy enough as it is, so I won't use anything on the treads. So far I haven't done anything but go to church. I think I'll walk down the drive and check out the blackberries. DH has "taken to the couch" for the whole day. He's not sick, he's just resting, but when he does that, I get really sedentary, too. Later I will go to the store and pick up something yummy for supper.
I'm trying not to weigh myself this week. I always let what scale says get into my head, so I'm trying to wait until wi. Off to walk. BBL |
Rhonda, :woohoo:congratulations on tossing away those 2 pounds.
We took a walk today at Hulen Park in Cleburne. Rhonda, that's where the old swimming pool used to be. The old train engine is still there. The main difference now is there's a "Splash Station" instead of the large swimming pool that was there for eons. They have sidewalk paths all over the area now for walkers. I don't know why we didn't start walking there sooner. |
Well, the blackberries aren't ready yet. Most of them are still red, but it won't be long. I had a nice walk, though.
Sandra and Rhonda-is the area that Sandra is describing an old childhood haunt for you guys? It sounds like a nice place to walk now, but I'll bet you have some good memories from the past. Have to go visit with a friend whose Mom died yesterday. Not looking forward to it, but she will appreciate the support. BBL |
Sloan, it's the old public swimming pool. I think it was the only one in our county when we were growing up. Rhonda and I were never there together, (We didn't know each other until a couple of years ago.) It's just an "old landmark" that's been refurbished and is now better than ever.
We had blackberries earlier. Our place has some wild plants growing out behind the barn. I planted 2 hybred bushes this spring. Do you make cobblers or crisps? I'm thinking a crisp would be close to being CORE. |
Hi Chickies, I'm back! Had a great time, but I went off plan somewhat. Oh well, it's all part of life. This isn't the first time and probably won't be the last.
Paula, you and your family are still in my thoughts and prayers. Sandra, you must be really excited! Almost ready to move in! Noussa, I'm glad you have AC. I don't know how you could live without it. Sloanie, I tried the KFC coleslaw this weekend and used the broccoli slaw and it was great. Stayed crunchy and we all liked it. Have you seen this in the store? It's good. Also, for your 4th of July barbecue you might make the calico beans for your baked beans. They are core and they are really good. I brought those this weekend. I actually had them for lunch today. They can almost be the meal because they have the extra lean ground beef, canadian bacon and the beans. Very good. I actually do mine in the crockpot. Rhonda, WTG on the 2 pounds BB, Congrats on the loss for June. Keep going in July! I need to get off at least six pounds in July. That's my personal goal/challenge. I want to have lost a total of 37.5 pounds by the end of July. Let's see if I can make it. |
