Vickie 06-23-2008 08:37 AM

WOW.....I am seriously out of it! I was sitting here chuckling to myself thinking.....poor Rhonda. She told us to go to the new pages and then she ran out of time to make new ones. I had convinced myself that today was June 30th! Hmmm......I guess I need to slow down and take a breath. Even though I'm retired, sometimes I get in hyperbreath.

I'm off to a ton of banking and errands today. I have to run around several towns but I've plotted out my trip so that it is gas smart. I used 7 WPA's yesterday. I forgot how fast they go. I'll need to seriously slow down the rest of the week. I'm thinking that ICBINB spray might help.

Have a great day and don't forget to drink your water.

beach bum 06-23-2008 10:46 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Nothing new, just recuperating from yesterday festivities, even though it was just Leo & I there. Going out to the Clam Shack this Friday, and looking forward to those fried clams along with coleslaw & French Fry Plate.

Don't worry I have everything under control, my new week is on Friday as I have new 35 WPA plus some A/P to apply to the dinner.

RHONDA-Thanks for starting us up for this week

Vickie-I hope you have a better week this time around than you had last week.We all have day like that, being retired is a wonderful thing but there times when we are forgetful.

Have to go will post later

Hugs :) BB

sloanie 06-23-2008 03:27 PM

:woohoo: I went to weigh in today (first time in four weeks) and since May 6, I've lost a total of 9.6 pounds! I'm very happy with that. My goal is to have lost a total of 15 pounds by the time we start back to school. Then I will have only 6 pounds left to get to goal.

noussa 06-23-2008 03:33 PM

Congrats SLOANIE! that's really encouraging to hear!
How is everyone doing? The heat here is driving me crazy!!!!

Vickie 06-23-2008 04:16 PM

Great job, Sloan. Congratulations!

Noussa, I'm sorry it's so hot there. It's not even warm enough her in Chicago to swim unless you're a hardy kid.

beach bum 06-23-2008 04:32 PM

BIG CONGRATS SLOANEON YOUR 9.6 WEIGHT LOSS.Hope that will be me in 6 weeks time. You'll make that goal, you do great so far.

ontarget 06-23-2008 05:06 PM

Howdy, Chickies. We're hibernating in the cool. We will venture out later this evening for a little fishing and archery. Life is good.

Noussa, I'm almost afraid to ask but how hot is it? I'm guessing around 120*F. Am I close? Do you have refrigerated a/c? Forgive me for being nosey; I can't help it. I am clueless about life in Saudi Arabia except for what you've already told us. (Please tell us more.)

Sloan, congratulations on losing all that weight. You're doing great.

Vickie, congratulations to you for being back op. You're right about those wpa's. I'm glad we have them.

Rhonda, thank you for the clean pages.

BB, I'm glad you had a good celebration.

Our new furniture starts arriving tomorrow. The excitement is building. We're about to move!

Vickie 06-23-2008 05:09 PM

Sandra, that's great news! I can't believe you're doing this all over again. Hopefully, this is your last move. Can we see pictures?

thingirlinside 06-23-2008 05:38 PM

Hi ladies, just checking in. Not much going on today, I am back op after a bad weekend. I went to my SIL baby shower yesterday and not one thing there was core friendly and I was starving since I missed breakfast and lunch, it was a hectic morning . I am back to strictly core, I feel so much better when I eat good.

Sloan congrats on the weigt loss, you are doing great.

Noussa stay cool, I do hope you have AC

Vickie glad your back OP

BB Happy belated birthday

Sandra moving into a new house is so exciting, I wish I could move! I hear real estate in Texas is pretty good.

blessedwithsarah 06-23-2008 07:45 PM

Hi ladies and thank you all for you thoughts and prayers. Friday night and Saturday am were tough, but I really feel at peace right now. I know where dad is and he is healthy and free from pain. He has been living with chronic back pain (arthritis and disc issues) for years. So, I can see him in heaven happy and healthy. The services are not until next Monday. I went to work today and will on Wed andThurs, I'm taking Friday to Wed off. Being the youngest of 7, this weekend was a bit crazed - way too many opinions on things. I'm glad that dad did make it know what he wanted. He will have a military burial at the MA National Cemetery. It will be a wonderful tribute to him.

In the meantime, I need to keep focus on my eating. Surprisingly I didn't eat much over the past few days -- drank a bit more than normal, but given the circumstances. Tuesday is my normal wi - won't be able to wi, but I will track my am weight on line.

Sloan, congrats on the loss. You'll meet your end of summer goal!!!

Sandra, great to hear the furniture has arrived. It will be great for you to get settled.

Beach Bum, where on the cape are you? We're in Easton.

Well, got to get dd out of the tub and to bed. She had her first day of summer camp today. It wore her out. I couldn't get much out of her as to what she did, she just couldn't remember. Oh well.

Thanks again to everyone for your support!! Needless to say I failed the challenge last week. I'll try this weeks.

Tejas 06-23-2008 07:51 PM

Hi All:

I'm glad to hear that things are progressing, Sandra. Like Vickie said, send pics.

I have been good all day...completely core. I didn't drink enough water, but began to make up for it a few hours ago. I walked a lot too.

When I wasn't walking I was packing boxes in my home department office. I've had two offices this year, and they need one back. That's more than fair, but it's work I didn't want to have to do. I made the best of it though and I have it down to 20 boxes of books. Five years ago I had twice that! They are going into storage for a year. It's funny: some of them I brought with me from Texas to Canada in 1975. They're "classics" and when I die, someone else can deal with them!

Have a good night all.

Rhonda

Tejas 06-23-2008 07:52 PM

OH, Paula, we were posting at the same time. Welcome back to the board. We're here for you!

sloanie 06-23-2008 10:03 PM

Noussa-I can't imagine how hot you are! Last year we had a drought, and it was so hot. :sunny: Still it can't compare to what you are going through.
BB-clams sound so yummy! :T I haven't had them in ages.
Niki-I know what you mean about the baby shower. I did not do so well at the recent wedding reception I attended, either. You'll get back on track!
Vickie-how did the errands go? I've been carefully plotting my course lately, too! I saw a blurb about how Americans have dramatically decreased their consumption this summer.
Sandra-It must be like Christmas! I know you and Curtis are so excited. Can't wait to see some photos.:hyper:
Hey Tracie and Nancy-what's up?
Rhonda-what do you "profess" at the university? I,too, have just started drinking my water, and it's 8:30. I guess we'll be up a lot tonight :(
Angela-are you okay?
Paula-I'm so glad to hear from you! I have been praying for you and your family, especially your mom. I will continue to pray for peace for you all. Try to eat op when you can, but don't beat yourself when you slip. Stress, sorrow, and family members gathering could all be eating triggers! Also, I don't know about your town, but where I live, people love to feed you in times of trouble. Don't use this as a time to go crazy, but don't add to the stress you already have by worrying about it.

I have been on core all day. I grilled marinated tuna steaks for dinner, and they were awesome! For dessert I had a ww fudge bar. It was so good, I may have one every day!

Sorry the post is so long. I just wanted to say something to everyone! Hope you chicks have a restful night.

Vickie 06-23-2008 10:07 PM

Sloan, don't worry about long posts. I'm the queen. Wait until you see me when I get going!

My errands went well but I have a bunch to do tomorrow too. I've got to get started on some exercise since I haven't done any yet this week. The clock is ticking. Tomorrow I have to go to the Dentist about a bridge that may be breaking and some gum issues. Yuck!

Talk to you all later.

ontarget 06-23-2008 11:04 PM

Paula, it's good to have you back. We're here for you if you need us. Don't hesitate to ask for help if you need it.

Vickie, I'll post some photos as soon as I can. We're excited about moving. We may sell the condo. Don't know for sure yet.

The first of the furniture comes tomorrow. My kitchen is almost complete and is popping red everywhere.

Not much else going on. I'll be back later.

Tejas 06-24-2008 07:39 AM

Hi All:

Sloan, congrats on the loss of weight. I hope to be joining you in that soon. I "profess" public health. Currently I am also the Director of an access program that brings in students who have not completed high school, but are capable of university work. In a year we get them ready to go to university. Most of the students have had very rough lives, so we do some great work and help people turn their lives around. I retire in one year and 6 days! DH and I'll move back to Texas and join cousin Sandra and Curtis.

Today is another day of food challenges. I have lunch with a program donor and then two receptions to attend. I'm feeling strong though, so let's hope for the best.

Rhonda

sloanie 06-24-2008 09:22 AM

Good mornin' all

Rhonda-your job sounds very rewarding! Making a difference that will totally change a person's life is awesome. I love the bumper sticker that says: "Teaching. The profession that makes all other professions possible."

I'm going to play nurse today, so I'll BBL

beach bum 06-24-2008 09:49 AM

Good morning Ladies:)

Did a little too much celebrating over this weekend and i only have two day left before my W-I. Going to be very careful,by eating nothing but Core foods today and tomorrow.

OnTarget-Had a wonderful time even if it was just the two of us. I had spare ribs and sweet potato salad. And for dessert WW ice cream cup with WW choc mint candy on top.The dessert & entree all points.

ThinGirl-Thanks for your birthday wishes, had a great weekend.

PAULA-I live in Mashpee for now 11 years. Moved here from NY when I retired.

Sloane-Looking forward to the clams all years as the place is closed in the winter.

VICKIE-Sending you some [[[[good vibes]]]] for the dentist visit ,I hate going to the dentist, some how I fear them more than I do the doctors.

Have to go,will post later

Hugs :) BB

twestra 06-24-2008 01:01 PM

Sloanie,:bravo: on your weight loss. :D

Paula, great to see you back!

Rhonda, two offices huh? You must be a busy woman!

Noussa, hope you can cool off a bit. I wish our weather would warm up, but I'd rather it not be as hot as your weather is.

BB, I love clams, and french fries and don't forget the tarter sauce. I haven't had anything like that in over 3 months.

Niki, just get back on track and you will be fine. Baby showers are a part of life and we will always have our times that we eat bad food, as long as we remember to get back to our good eating, we will be fine.

I had a couple of glasses of wine last night and sat out by the pool and relaxed. No exercise for me last night. Oh well.

Vickie, I hate the dentist, but I go for my checkups. Luckily everything has been fine with my teeth for awhile now.

Sandra, I would love new furniture, even if I can't move! You are lucky!

blessedwithsarah 06-24-2008 06:25 PM

BB, did you ever get to Dick and Ellies flea market on Sundays? My dh and I (actually before we were married) used to set up and sell things there most Sunday's during the summer. His mom and dad were there as well. Nothing like that old Flea market, nothing like it around anymore.

Vickie 06-24-2008 06:54 PM

Thanks all. The Dentist was ok. I got some stuff to rinse/brush with to ease the inflammation on my gums. I'll start it tomorrow and use it twice a day. I forget what it's called.

Tomorrow, I start the search for a new countertop for my kitchen. I'm pretty sure we are going with Corian. We can't afford to gut the kitchen so we are sprucing. New countertop, sink, faucet. Then I'm having someone come in to dye and seal the grout because it looks nasty to me. Then we'll paint and decorate. It's long overdue. I've been procrastinating. Kind of like with my exercise!

sloanie 06-24-2008 08:04 PM

Hey chicks! Whoever created the blueberry muffin recipe is a genius. I made them today, and they are awesome!

Vickie-I'm glad the treatment for your gum issues is rinse and not surgery. That does not sound like fun to me!

Tracie-a couple of glasses of wine by the pool sounds great. :beach: I know you must really enjoy that.

BB-drink, drink, drink that water. Maybe you'll be surprised at wi. :goodscale

Paula-I'm still prayin'

I visited three patients today then came home and cooked a big dinner. :chef: Meat loaf, potatoes, squash, green peas, fresh corn, and cornbread. Do you ever cook a big meal and then don't feel very hungry? I did eat a small amount of each thing, but while I was cooking, I thought I would have a plate full! I also got a big juicy watermelon today, but I'll pop if I eat another bite. As I said above, the blueberry muffins are awesome, and I did manage to stuff one in:lol:

Hope you all have a great evening. BBL if I have time.

coco99 06-24-2008 08:51 PM

Hi Everyone
BLESSEDWITHSARAH You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Well ladies
I had to go to the Dr last Friday. My heel has really been bothering me. Has been for about 2 years now. Then started feeling some better. But in the last 6 months. Has really been hurting and some evenings. My foot has been swelling. Any way. Went to the Dr to see what she thought it might be. She said she things its something called. I cant spell it. But the first word is Planter. And the second word starts with a f. Anyway. Gave me some home exercises to do for it. And some celbrex to take.
But I got really upset. When I got on their scales on Friday. It said I weighed 13 pounds heavier than the WW scales that I weigh in on. I was really bummed. So now. Whose scales are right.
I did go to WW last night. On their scales I was up 2 1/2 lbs.
But I also have to go back in a few weeks. My blood pressure was up. So now the Dr is talking about putting me on some meds for that. So I guess I have gotten my motivtion to get some of this weight off now. Because I dont want to go on any meds for blood pressure.
Thank you for all the support you ladies gave me about the person who was calling WW the fat farm. The one reason I was so upset about it. Was because it was my Mom.
Hubby hasnt been feeling well. They are thinking he is having a reaction to some meds they put him on. So he is to stop that and see if he feels better.
Oh my. I am so sorry I wrote so much.
But I have missed you all so much.
I have alot more to say. But will save it for another time.
Thinking of each of you.
coco

sloanie 06-24-2008 09:29 PM

Coco-If you search Plantar Fasciitis on the internet, you can find a taping technique that may help. It's not hard to do, and all you need is cloth tape. Also, I don't know if the doctor told you, but one of the best things you can do is stretch immediately upon getting out of bed. What I mean is: don't take even one step on your sore foot until you stretch it.
About your mom, I'm so sorry if I said anything inappropriate about her. I don't ever think it is right to talk to someone the way she talked to you, but I may not have been as aggressive with my words had I known it was your mom. I hope that one day you can let her know how her words have hurt you. It may not change anything, but you need to say it anyway.
About the doctor's scale, You need to focus only on the scale you have consistently weighed on, the ones at ww. At the home care agency I work for (I'm an RN), we tell our patients that they should weigh on the same scale each time to show any true loss or gain. I know you are frustrated about the BP and the weight, but you can do something about them. Another thing you can look at and compare to core is the DASH diet. It is on the internet and is a diet to help control high blood pressure. Maybe you could look at it and try to incorporate some of the guidelines with your core diet.
Hang in there! I know there is a lot of "craziness" going on, but if you stay focused you can do it! We can all encourage and help you! Keep posting.

Tejas 06-24-2008 09:36 PM

Hi All:

Whew, at last: the last of the retirement parties with wine and good food was held today. Now, maybe I can get back to being a good girl  I am way too externally controlled!

Coco, I'm sorry it was your mother who called WW a "fat farm." But, you know, no matter who it is who says that, they are WRONG! It just hurts more when it is from someone close.

I've had the same foot problem you talk about: plantar fasciitiis. I had it for six months. It will go away, so do what they tell you to do. It's miserable and hurts like the

I am worn out tonight from all the "networking" I've done today. We used to call it "gossiping."

Rhonda

ontarget 06-24-2008 10:08 PM

Coco, I've had that, too. Sometimes it feels like you're walking on broken glass. Just do what the doctor says.

Rhonda, 1 year and 6 days? Hmmmmmm? Guess we need to get your bow strung.

We took the grands to see "Kung Fu Panda" today. Cute flick. Papa stayed awake so that says a lot.

Got our new recliner sofa today. I feel spoiled.

Tejas 06-25-2008 08:58 AM

Recliner sofa...aaah, that's nice. I'm headed out to work and I wish I could just go sit in a recliner sofa for the morning. Enjoy!

beach bum 06-25-2008 10:48 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Last night thunderstorm pushed the humid weather out to sea,and this morning we're going to open the doors & windows to let the fresh and colling air in.

After my festivities of the weekend I followed the core plan to a tee, for three days now,and I hope I have something to show for it at Tomorrows W-I.

I feel so good eating the Core way,not feeling deprived at all,as long as I can partake of the flex foods now and than with my WPA's what more can I ask. I can have my fruit, cereals pasta, rice and all those grain. NOW my only wish is to be out of the 160's being stuck there for so long.

TRACY-We go twice a year to the Clam Shack on the harbor for my BD and my DH's BD. We used to have fried clams & fries on Long Island but never found them any were else, until we came to the Cape.

PAULA-No I haven't been there yet. I pass there a lot when we go on rt 28.Sorry, I'm not into the flea market thing,we had 2 major ones on Long Island NY and I never felt the need to visit them.

SLOANE-Thats what I'm doing and ughhh the bathroom scene at night is awful.Hope all my effects will pay off.

COCO-Is Planters Wart.the same as Planters Fasciitis. Yikes I used to have that on my heel and i had to have radiation treatment to get them off. other wise I lose my heel. But that was about 40 year ago, when I was in the twenty's.If that what you had now wonder the pain. The doctor told me that the wart grows other warts in a circle and that plant them and the new plant other etc etc etc.Hope you don't have that, get better soon.

Now the scales my DH always says WW is in for money not your weight,I had to fight them tooth & nail to defend them. that was after stalling for 11 weeks on the flex plan, but now that I 'm doing Core I'm losing. My scale is 2 lbs less than WW so when I go on my scale just before I W-I at WW I know what the results will be.

Have a great morning

Hugs :) BB

thingirlinside 06-25-2008 02:30 PM

Good afternoon ladies, just checking in and taking a break from cleaning, with 2 young children I feel like that is all I do sometimes :D

coco, I also have had heel pain, using a arch support has helped me alot.

Paula hope you and your family are doing well.

Tracie thanks for the encouragement, I have been back op since monday and my scale is still down and I feel so much better. I would feel alot better if I was at a pool sipping wine :beach:

Rhonda I love the wording, next time my husband says stop gossiping :gossip:, I am going to say I am "networking" dear.

Sandra my son loved Kung Fu Panda.

Sloan I have tried muffins from the desert thread and they were great so I am going to have to try the blueberrie ones, thanks for the review.

thingirlinside 06-25-2008 03:29 PM

Hi Beach Bum, I hit post too quick before. I live on Long Island, I see by your post you use to live here where about on LI.

sloanie 06-25-2008 05:33 PM

Hey Chicks-went to see some patients this morning, and now I have the munchies! I'm staying on core, but eating crazy stuff! Since I've been home I've had watermelon, popcorn, blueberry muffin, and a ww ice cream bar. I am still feeling hungry! It's not my tom, but I'm not always sure (almost 50 and things are starting to change). I'm watching "The Bucket List" with my kids right now, so I hope I can stay distracted until supper.

Wish me luck! TTFN

coco99 06-25-2008 07:48 PM

Hi Everyone
SLOANIE Is the Bucket List any good. Thought about renting it. And you didnt say anything wrong about my Mom. It just really hurt. She nows I try. And I have had a weight problem all my life. Even when I was young. She would put me on a diet. And make comments. My sisters are thin. I was always the overweight one. Mom just is always being negative in alot of things I do. But alot of it I try to overlook. But then I think well she is my Mom. So I dont want to say anything bad to her. Maybe one of these days I will get the courage to say something to her. I know her sister is trying to quit smoking. And she is afraid to tell her. Because of what she will say. Thank you for your support.
BEACH BUM No planter fascitiis isnt the same as a planters wart. It is pretty painful. Starting to feel some better. Been doing the exercises that the Dr told me to do. And taking celebrex.
Try to give blood today. They finally got there bag full. But then they couldnt get the 3 tubes of blood they need afterwards. So they said they couldnt use my blood. Said it was clotting too much. I know as the bag was filling. The girl had to keep playing with the needle. So dont know. Maybe the next time.
Well I hope everyone has had a great day.
Am thinking of each of you.
Have a great evening.
coco

twestra 06-25-2008 08:42 PM

Hey chickies! I went to ww and wi today and I lost 1.8 pounds! I'm excited because I finally hit my 30 pound mark. 31.6 pounds to be exact! I am getting closer and closer to my halfway mark. I should be there soon!

Coco, sorry to her that your mother is the one who made those comments. I also hope I didn't offend you with my comments. But I still think it was a mean thing to say! Also, sorry to hear about your foot. Just do as the dr says. I have never had this but from what the others are saying, it will get better as long as you follow dr's orders.

Sloanie, good luck on your munching! I have had my days too. I just try to make it core and it usually gets me by.

nancy237 06-25-2008 08:55 PM

Sloan.. hit the protein when those munchies hit.. I had to have 2 eggs between meals today to not be hungry.

I am 142 today!! I think the exercise has started to make me burn more
because I have lost 3 pounds this week I think.

ontarget 06-25-2008 10:52 PM

:bday2: Nancy!! What did you do to celebrate?

Tracie, :woohoo: on losing over 30 lbs.

Coco, I am sorry your mom's not being supportive. As to "Bucket List"--we saw it and loved it!

Sloan, some days are just like that. I like Nancy's suggestion about eating protein.

sloanie 06-25-2008 11:14 PM

Hi all-we loved the Bucket List. It was a bittersweet story.
Thanks for all your encouraging comments! I won't tell you how it turned out, ;) but I will say that I'm okay and will be op tomorrow. You chicks are great!
Nancy-congrats on your loss and happy birthday! I feel like I'm going so slow! I guess if I stayed op more consistently, I wouldn't feel that way :(
Tracie- over 30 pounds! :carrot::cb::dance::dancer::hyper::twirly::cheer3: :broc::cheer2::woohoo::congrat: I'm so excited for you!

GTG finish paperwork from my nursing visits today. I've been procrastinating, so I'd better get busy.

Nighty night

nancy237 06-26-2008 12:58 AM

Who figured out I had a birthday??
When I went to the beach a few weeks ago I celebrated
there, but I thought I never told you guys because I was away.
I am wondering if when Sloan gave me a :celebrate: about my weight
everyone thought it was a birthday???
My Grandma was right , when you are sneaky you always get caught:dizzy:

nancy237 06-26-2008 01:08 AM

Tracy..you should be so proud of yourself!!!!!!
Give yourself a reward like new exercise clothes.
When I hit my 1/2 way mark I am eating pizza :hun:

beach bum 06-26-2008 08:49 AM
