Not boring at all, Noussa! In fact, I find it fascinating. Jim and I both worked for the Treasury Department before we took an early retirement because our office was closing. We both worked in EEO complaints processing and I find the whole subject of equality and different races/cultures/religions endlessly interesting. I'm not a traveler but love to hear about new and exciting experiences.

Perhaps your stories will distract us from the hard matter at hand which is not putting unhealthy food in our mouths!

It's quiet today. I just seasoned my chicken and will let it sit for an hour or so before roasting. I'm hungry already. Time for some more water.

boring...omg Noussa..that is so facinating! I admire you for moving there. It feels so unreal to me... Where I work there is a woman who is from Turkey..I never get tired of her telling me stories from her homeland. We had an amazing moment at work one time..we were sitting around during circle time and she shared a childhood story with us...well I had the same story told to me when I was a child...small world isnt it? I loved that..
Vickie,,everyone has told me to call her..I cant face it right now..I know I should..Im what we call an ostrich at work..I hide my head in the sand till things blow over.... I wish I could be different.

Vickie 01-26-2008 04:34 PM

Patti, make the plunge. You'll be happy you did. Try a new approach this time. You'll both feel worse the more time passes.

Ok.....I won't keep trying to convince you anymore.

Hi Everyone
Not much going on here. Still a little headache. But not bad.
NOUSSA Your post was very interesting. Glad to have you.
ONTARGET Hope you are having a great weekend.
TEJAS I have some supper dishes I will send your way. Did you get the new dishwasher all hooked up.
P.A. Hope you are doing ok.
BLESSEDWITHSARAH Good job not using any WPA this week.
VICKIE How are you. I had chicken tonight for supper too. I fixed mine in a skillet with a little water and smart balance butter. And then added Mrs. Dash Garlic spice. We like it that way.
TO EVERYONE ELSE I am thinking of you. Hope you are having a great weekend.
Well need to go and see what the dog is barking at.
Have a wonderful evening.

Hi All:

Noussa's story reminds me that when I moved to Ontario in 1975 pubs still had "men's" entrances and "ladies and escorts" entrances. I imagine in the country you could still find them in use in some places.

DH and I went with friends to the Spaghetti Factory here in Toronto. I had WW spaghetti with meat sauce. Who knows if it was Core, but at least it was WW. I actually do not like these places: big warehouse style restaurants full of kids who ought to be home getting ready for bed instead of eating and running around. I actually like family-friendly restaurants, but I think this place must have been just too big for me, with too many people in it. It is truly a "factory." Others love it.

The dishwasher is here, but not installed yet. DH decided that he didn't want to do the plumbing, so we'll wait for a bit. He'll do the electrical while we wait for the plumber.

Hope you all have a good night!

Rhonda

Noussa, that is fascinating! Thank you so much for sharing. I'm ready for more information any time you want to share.

Patti, by all means call your aunt. Don't let this fester.

Rhonda, sounds like you're having a fun weekend. Makes me smile. Tell Doyle we went to a chili supper tonight at the Baptist Church in Sand Flat. We had a blast and saw a lot of folks I knew.

Coco, I'm glad you're feeling better.

noussa 01-27-2008 02:45 AM

Hello Ladies~
Glad to hear that I didn't bore you half to death! Tejas: you have to be careful about restaurants that claim to offer "weightwatcher" meals. I remember while still living in Toronto, my WW leader mentioned that these claims are not always true. You should check for the WW copyright on the menu, that should indicate that their ingredients do fit our guidelines. But, here's my take: If you enjoyed it and your intentions were in the right place, the calories don't count! :) ...Which is probably why I have 90 lbs to lose! :)

Vickie 01-27-2008 10:09 AM

Good Morning Chicks! It's a bright sunny day here, thank goodness. I haven't been feeling well for a couple of weeks so I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. I think it's something with my hiatal hernia. Sigh. We just got Jim all healthy.

Coco, I'm so glad you're feeling better. Now if you could just shake the headache. Do you have migraines? I do but they don't come too often.

Rhonda, I've never been to the Spaghetti factory but we do have them here. I think it's wonderful when a place has whole wheat pasta. I usually order the marinara with mushrooms and call it Core enough. I think even if they do use oil it's olive oil and good for us anyway. If it's particularly cheesy tasting marinara, then I count a couple of WPA's. But think about it......how exciting that you could go out and be darned near Core!

Sandra, you sound happier since being back in Texas. Is Curtis enjoying meeting all these folks from your past?

Noussa, good point! The only one in the states with the actual WW blessing is Applebees. I haven't been there in a long time because the portions are too small for me!:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Tejas 01-27-2008 11:16 AM

I realize I wrote "WW" when I meant "whole wheat."

The Spaghetti Factory had lots of choices, all of them high calorie no doubt! I ordered the simplest thing I could find. There is a family-run Italian place just a few blocks from my house. I prefer it because they will prepare just what you want. DH can have lasagna, and I can have chicken breast, olive oil, garlic and whole wheat pasta.

I'm off to walk the dog and then go see my former MIL in the nursing home.

I'm aiming for a very low calorie day today to try to compensate for the bar-b-que on Friday and pasta last night.

Sandra, a chili supper in the Baptist church sounds good to me. Of course, I'd have to go the Methodist church supper instead

Hi everyone. Hope you all had a peaceful weekend. Got alot of cleaning and de-cluttering done. Cooked a core quiche, core soup and made more chocolate cake today. So, I'm set for the week.

Sarah is in the tub, lunches are ready to go and the coffee pot is on. I did end up using some WPA this weekend. Went out to dinner last night, had a great skirt steak with a grilled ceaser salad and baked sweet potato. The grilled salad is amazing -- an heart of romain, grilled warm and a bit charred, then the dressing, cheese and bacon on top. I did not eat the croutons, left most of the bacon. Estimating the cheese and dressing (which was minimal) I figured 5 pts in total.

We went out again to night, just got a garden salad with grilled chicken and a balsamic vinnegrette (which I know is OK). So, all in all I did well this weekend.

Take care everyone. See you tomorrow.

Hi there, Chickies. We spent today meeting our neighbors then working in the yard. We had a good day. The temp was near 70* and the sun was shining. Life is good.

Vickie, Curtis is happier than I have ever seen him. He's having a blast. Tonight he told me he wants us to throw a community bbq. I think we'll do that sometime in April.

I'm sorry you haven't been feeling well but am glad you're going to the doctor. Keep us posted on what you find out.

Rhonda, you're a hoot. We had a ball at the chili supper. Curtis was amazed at how many people I knew there.

Paula, I am impressed. You go, girl.

blessedwithsarah 01-27-2008 07:36 PM

Oh, Sandra, I'm dreaming of 70s! We were supposed to have a rainy day. NOPE, ended up with a sloppy 3 inches of snow and ice. No fun. I want spring!

coco99 01-27-2008 07:43 PM

Hi Everyone
Just checking in. Had a gloomy day today. Had some snow flurries all day. Wasnt suppose too. But didnt get much. Which is good. But the roads may be icy in the morn. Cause a few times seemed like more a lite rain. Than snow.
VICKIE Sorry you havent been feeling good. Hope you get to feeling better soon. No I dont get migraines. I get alot of sinus headaches. And being in the cold the other day. I think is what triggered it. And I have to watch being in the wind also. Will keep you in my prayers.
ONTARGET That was nice getting together with the neighbors. And 70 sounds good.
BLESSEDWITHSARAH It wont be long and spring will be here.
TEJAS That was nice to get together with friends. Hope MIL was doing ok.
NOUSSE Hope you had a great day.
Well I am going to get off here.
Hope everyone had a great weekend.
coco

Tejas 01-27-2008 08:42 PM

70F!!! Oh, how I miss it. We had snow, but it wasn't too cold today and not much wind. :beach:

It's good to hear that Curtis is happy with the relocation and change in lifestyle.

I made DH a lemon meringue pie. It's his favorite, and I gave in to having a piece. But, it was a small one. He had two big ones.

I'm feeling a bit stressed. Too much work everywhere I look, but I can be good at focussing on what isn't done instead of celebrating what is! I need to work on that. There's a lot going on at work that I don't have any control over yet it affects my work negatively. Ain't it always the way?!

Rhonda
