Hi All
Well I made a yummy fajitas dinner tonight and everyone raved! I love it when I can cook a meal that EVERYONE likes. Blessedwithsarah - I LOVED having a cleaning lady. Last year a friend of mine and I traded - I am a massage therapist and she needed massage and so she said that she would clean my house if I would give her massage. She came in once a week and cleaned for about 3 hours and for that I gave her 1 hour massage. Worked for both of us. Love the barter system. (Except you still clean up before the cleaning lady comes) Glad to hear that some of you are traveling on your treadmills. I am trying to run at least 3 times a week and it is really going well. Last week I was very sick but still managed to go to the track twice. Tomorrow I am going in the morning and I will do 5 km. Bad news is I dropped my pedometer and now it won't work! I will have to get out and get another one. I really like to be able to measure progress and I love it when I can get over that 10 000 steps per day. I must go to bed now. The kids are cramming for their exams and they are making me crazy and tired just watching them. Boy, I remember being the kind of student that actually took notes in school and when I did poorly on a test it wasn't because the teacher was an idiot and hated me...:dizzy: KIDS...I love them but they'll drive you to drink! |
Hi there, Chickies. We've had a great day. Patti, you win with the cold temps. it is cold here, too, but not even in your or most others here's league.
We had some sf/ff hot chocolate tonight for our snack. Life is good.' I'll be back tomorrow with a longer post. Night night, everyone. |
Good Morning Chicks! I'm rushing but wanted to tell you all to have a great day.

Thanks Vickie!
So today I am sporting my pedometer after the speaker we had at my exercise group last night - I guess it doesn't hurt to know how active (inactive?) I am? Goal is obviously to increase our daily activity. Workout was grueling - as we are up to 2 sets of 10 reps each - ouch! Going out for dinner tonight w/gf (the one who cancelled last 2 times) - yes I shall eat yummy things but I shall not fret too much about it and will try to enjoy myself! Rhonda - I love making up soup recipes - yours sounds great! And my cleaning lady is one of the last things I will let go of despite some financial worries - honestly I don't know how I would survive - and yes she is actually coming this afternoon and everyone has been instructed to 'cleanup' before she arrives! :D:D Frouf |
I'll be cleaning up before mine comes tomorrow. I don't think it's weird at all. I don't actually clean, I just put things away so that she has empty surfaces to clean!
I'm off to shower and get ready for my busy day. |
I'm like Vickie...running out the door, late. I've been working :comp: from home but have to leave now and go to the office.
Yesterday, I spoke at a memorial service for a colleague and it has upset me more than I thought it would. Not the public speaking: his death. He was only in his early 70's, and will be missed. He had a good life though: good work and a loving family. Rhonda |
Good morning ladies. It's snowing here...AGAIN! I am kind of tired of all this snow. We've gotten spoiled in the last few years with mild winters. Not so this year!
We met with some painters today getting quotes on our store. The tiler is coming on Friday to do the floor. The electrician is there now, and the sheetrockers are almost done. There is just so much to remember and do, it's mind-boggling at times. That doesn't count all the household stuff I should be doing, and taking care of the girls, and making meals, and all the church stuff I'm in charge of. Well, at least I can't complain of being bored! I am doing well with eating. It's TOM lurking time, so the cravings are annoying, but I am managing them. Well, I'm off to go conquer laundry mountain. Later! Angela |
Hi everyone. Its been a busy day, just now finding time to stop by. I've done really well for day #2. I have not used any wpa and I have logged in all my food to my WW on line account (its included in the monthly pass). Is anyone else using the monthly pass for meetings? It comes out to just under $10 a meeting plus you get the on line tools included.
So far so good......... Angela, what kind of store are you opening? Your own business? Frouf, congrats on the workouts. Any cruising planned? Got to get ready to head home. BBL |
Hi there. I did my rushing around earlier today, too. Now we're settled in for the evening. Tomorrow we're meeting a couple for lunch. He and I were classmates growing up. I'm hoping he and Curtis hit it off and Curtis will have a new fishing buddy. Also, maybe we can get them to flinging arrows. He's a competitive pistol shooter. I don't know her yet but am looking forward to meeting her.
Angela, congratulations. Sounds like you're focused. Frouf, enjoy your dinner date. Will you have a glass of something for me? Rhonda, I am sorry you're hurting. Vickie, I guess I'm our cleaning lady. The 5th wheel only takes a few short minutes, though. Paula, Curtis is doing the monthly pass but I'm not since I'm a lifetimer. He gets a good bargain. I would be doing it if I had to pay for missed meetings, but I'm just having to pay when we attend. |
Whew, I'm with you, Angela..enough snow already. Your plans are exciting..enjoy this phase of it all!
Paula, you go, girl...log that food! It's so easy not to do, just like exercise. Yet, both are so essential. I'm getting back to the WW on-lone logging. I almost cancelled my on-line membership, then decided to use it again. If I back off from it, I'll drop the membership. It's not much money, but it does add up over a year. I've had a good food day and am having a light dinner also. I'm planning to do a WATP DVD later, or at least some floor exercises. BBL, Rhonda |
Nobody else on line?
Sandra and Donna are travelling on the other thread. I watched a documentary on Paul Simon and the guy who directs Saturday Night Live. They are good friends and the show went back and forth between their productions. It was produced by Robert Redford and was really heartening. I did a lot of floor exercises while listenting to great music and hearing funny jokes! Have a great night, everyone. Rhonda |
Well after a run in with some bbq potato chips I managed to eat a smaller salad for lunch and had a scrumptious dinner with my gf - lots of fun reminiscing and catching up and we decided we need to get together more often so it's not a big yap session! ha ha ha ...and sandra I had a gin and tonic for you (with extra limes) - it was yummy.
I had the 'special' which was sesame seed crusted salmone drizzled with an orange ginger sauce - most divine - it came on a bed of linguini and veggies which I substitued with veggies and roasted potatoes - I am glad to say I don't feel like I overate and no BLOATED FEELING which is the best! Rhonda - kudos to you for working out while enjoying the show - what a great idea! Paula - I also find 'logging in foods very helpful however I am using fitday.com and I actually enjoy it as I can see my total calories as well as the percentage breakdown of fats/proteins and carbs! No cruises planned right now - altho I do love 'window shopping' (altho my gf did mention me letting her know if I found any good deals as she and her dh would be willing to cruise w/us).....I am feeling kinda cruised out right now - i actually did 3 cruises last year (and alas the cruise bank account is quite depleted right now :( ) I am almost dreading my workout tomorrow night - kinda like a love/hate relationship - excited to go and work out and join the group - but geez when I'm doing those side leg lifts with 3 lb weights - I am in pain and can't wait for it to be over! Hope it gets easier. Little ds all stuffed up tonight - tried to find some meds that were NOT on the recall list to relieve some of the symptoms - have a sinking feeling he will not be going to school tomorrow! Frouf |
Morning ladies! It's -14 this lovely morning here. I want to stay home!! :)
But alas, I'm off to work today, but I'm bringing an extra sweater because sometimes my classroom is really cold. It's right on the corner of the building. I have done my Pilates dvd for the last 2 nights. :cheer: But I still haven't found my pedometer, so I am not traveling with Sandra yet. Well, I need to make my lunch now. Laters! Angela |
-14F brrrr. We were at -20F. I never realized that Iowa was so cold. I've got to go out to work also. My office has been frigid. Yesterday I discovered that the radiator was off. No wonder my hands were so cold!
Angela, good for you with the Pilates. And, Frouf: 3 pound weights?! That's a lot, no wonder you have some dread. I don't use weights on my leg lifts, but I have some, so I'll join you. Mine are only 2 pounds, and that's going to be enough for me! Have a great day all. DH has just put the oatmeal on the table, so gotta run... Rhonda |
Morning chickies - a frigid below zero morning here as well- at least my office is warm and I do wear a little jacket over my shirt which I can remove if required!
Angela - good work w/the Pilates - dh was at the dr yesterday and she was STRONGLY encouraging him to do some pilates - weak core - and we just bought a cheap workout pilates dvd (can't find our other good ones) so I hope he will start using it. Try and stay warm. Rhonda - those 3 lb weights are killers on the side lifts - but I up it to 4 lbs for the knee extensions which are not as hard. Doing 3 lbs on the arms but I guess I shall be upping that to 5 lbs in a week or so (how come they don't make 4 lb hand weights? you have to do a 2 lb increase!) And while I am sporting my pedometer now I can't see I would be getting too far - just trying to see what my 'daily average' is right now - then we are to make efforts to increase it - yesterday I did around 3,000 steps! Can't wait til tomorrow/Friday - for some reason week is going very slow and I am feeling so tired still..... Frouf |
