Good moringing everyone and thanks for the welcome back! Its great to see so many are still here and new members as well. I'm looking forward to my meeting tomorrow, more so than if it were the at work. The last couple of times I joined at work and could not lose I felt guilty. The leader is great, and she was the same leader I had when I lost 40+ and became lifetime. I was her first member to do that with only doing core. Well, she would always talk about how sucessful I was and how well I did. The only problem is that for 6 months I struggled to lose 5-8 pds without luch - didn't feel sucessful at all. So, new leader, new meeting, not history. I think that will be good for me. I do need to bring Sarah with me tomorrow, the meetings are about a 1/2 hour, right? If thats the case she'll be fine reading a book or coloring. (Yes, my 4 almost 5 year old is a reader- self taught!).

I found my core chocolate cake receipe and I'll make that today. I think I'll do core starting to day and then see what the scale says tomorrow. I thnk I'm now about 10-12 over goal.

Vickie, Angela, Rhonda, Coco, Sandra, Froufy and Melissa -- wow, just like old home week! Anyone hear from Kathy at all?

Melissa, how is the baby? Any pictures posted, I'm sure it was posted somewhere -- girl, right? Name please !!! I hope all is well. Daughters are awesome! Sarah and I are now shopping buddies - she has inhertited my love of shoe stores. DH cringes when we go out.

Sandra - how is the new life? Are you set up at your sons? How are the archery tournaments going or do they not start until spring?

Angela and Frouf -brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I think you are both colder than me now - we are about 13 this morning.

Well, today is MLK day and I'm home. Since its so cold I'm going to take Sarah to a movie -- she has never been to a theater, so it should be a treat. There is a veggie tale movie out right now that is G. It seems the G movies don't last out very long.

Well, off to start the day.

Oh, what is the Senior Member stuff? Hmmm, not sure if I like that....

Good Morning Chicks! Thanks for the new pages, Paula. I'm sure poor Rhonda will be thrilled. She'd get on here every Monday morning and there would be the rest of us....chatting away on last week's thread!

You are a VERY positive person and it's wonderful to have you back here. I hope we can help you as much as you've helped us. I continue to struggle myself but am too stupid to give up. I figure if I stop thinking about it and trying then I'll be back up over 300 pounds in no time flat.

The meetings do last a half hour. I find most times I'm there for about 45 minutes. Sarah sounds like a dream. But....those things are no accident. You must be a terrific Mom. My own meeting is this morning. I'm not hoping for anything good but I'm going. I didn't go last week because of Jim's test. Nice excuse, huh?

Anywhooooo....have a great day all. I'll be back later, I'm sure.

Vickie, I finally figured out that I'll never be able to NOT think about eating healthy and keeping on top of what the scale says. If I did I would have gained all that I lost back plus more. Thats what I had done so many other times - I was definatly a yo yo.

Good luck at the meeting today. What is done is done, we can only move forward!

Questions to you all -- does anyone consider Wasa Multigrain crisps core? I'm having those with my ff cottage cheese now. The ingredients are all core. I'm thinking I could be ok. I know the "official" ww stuff has points. Just wondering what you all thought.

Good Morning:

You can call me sleepy-head today. I had a bout of insomnia last night, and didn't get to sleep until about 3AM this morning. I have bought Bill Clinton's book "Giving" and I read a lot of it last night. It's very positive and up-lifting, and shows that many people are seriously involved in helping others. Just what I need to read in the political doom and gloom of the age we live in.

So, thanks, Paula for getting us started.

I think the view here is that, if the ingredients are Core, then it is. But, I don't think that's the official WW view. Others know more than I do, and I'm sure they'll join in.

I've never had to struggle as hard to lose weight, and I must count points and move. I know what you mean about taking months to lose 5-8 pounds. But, this week, I'm aiming to lose 2 pounds.

Bye all....I'm off to work.

Rhonda

Good morning all! The snowflakes are flying outside today. It's quite beautiful, but I feel like my 6 year old who said this morning, "I wish all the snow would melt! I want to see grass again," followed by a huge sigh.

I am out running errands this morning...then filling out credit apps for our different suppliers for the business, then shopping for ceramic tile for the store floor, then neatening my house, then planning meals, picking up kids etc etc. No rest for me today.

I think I may start a daily menu thread, just so I have an easy place to write it all down. Be warned it may not all be Core, but I am trying with the resources I have to be as close as I can be.

Later!

Good afternoon. I got up early this AM and kept our 9 yo granddaughter till a few minutes ago. We had a great time--even while we were having our math lesson.

Paula, is your Core chocolate cake recipe posted here? I am starving for cake and chocolate sounds wonderful. Curtis and I wound up buying a couple of acres of land near my son's. The land has an older single-wide mobile home on it that we've converted to an indoor archery range for training as well as an archery pro shop. We're doing most of our training here and have been competing in indoor tournaments since early November. Life is good.

Vickie, I am still working on accepting myself the way I am. Curtis and I found that we still need to be mindful of eating Core of Flex but do have treats occasionally. My main goal is to "not gain." I had been totally out of control recently. That's the main reason I've been taking Alli--to help me get off extra I gained the past few weeks.

Rhonda, I don't blame you one bit for sleeping in this morning. 3 AM is awfully late for being awake.

I have decided where I'm going on my "journey." I'm going to head straight up I-35 to Canada. I'm excited about my "trip." I'll be and both--and will be posting what all I "see."

Sandra, sounds like you have a great set up. Life is Good!

Well, had a very productive afternoon. I did take Sarah to see "The Priates who don't do anything". Its a veggie tale movie, very cute. She did great for sitting close to an hour and 1/2. It was the first time I took her to a theater, so it was a big hit. Well, I've just spent the past hour clearning out a closet in our spare room. This has been my closet, but dh is going to renovate (completely gut) the room starting in a couple of weeks. I had a rack of clothes in the back of the closet which, gosh, some were close to 20 years old. I found an interview outfit a friend gave me when I graduated college in 1987! There was also a bridesmade gown from 1990 and several suits I must have bought in the early 80s.

Is anyone familiar with the add on TLC where a woman comes into an office with a suit jacket with huge shoulder pads, long jacket and short skirt -- the receptionist ask here where she parked her Delorian? Well, most of these clothes could have been used in that commercial!! Or how about the movie Working Girl ..... Needless to say there are alot of hideous suits, skirts, blouses and dresses heading for Salvation army.

I also threw out about a dozen old pocket books -- I would buy a new one when the old was was worn out, but throw the old one into the back of the closet. Get the idea. DH will be shocked -- I even threw out shoes!

Let look around for the chocolate cake recipe. I've had it for a while. If its not posted, I will do that on Wednesday (I have it stored on my PC at work).

Have a great day!

Hey Chicks! I lost a pound and I've been out shopping all day. I promised Honey Lamb some attention so I'll try to be back later. I bought an iPod case and some groceries for tomorrow. Angela is sending the snow here so I need to hibernate again after my mammogram tomorrow. Talk to you all later.

Congrats on losing that pound Vickie - and welcome back Paula - I was actually also MIA for a while and just started back posting a few weeks ago. While I am not really doing core I am trying to watch what I eat and keep it under control.

Except for TODAY of course - I actually had a HORRID weekend - well friday night was okay as dh and I went out to the movies. Sat was spent doing errands (looking for new computer desk and monitor) but everything went downhill sat evening as we were preparing to go out for our 10TH ANNIVERSARY DINNER!

Dh was kinda antsy - upset cuz I was cooking dinner for the kids before we left (even tho we had time and reservation was not til 7:30 - and this was like an hour ahead - and we are only 10 mins away!).... Kept wanting me to drop everything and leave - altho I was not dressed and was still preparing dinner? Very weird - told him he sounded aggravated at which point dd jumped in (ya like we need her 2 cents) and said 'ya you sound aggravated' - which pushed his buttons big time.

So we finally get out of the house - neither of us in a good mood - he is angry cuz I 'didn't stick up for him' - I am angry cuz he was rushing me and was not helping with the dinner - so we end up sitting in the parking lot of restaurant with me crying and him ranting - we obviously ended up going home not talking to each other - yesterday was a write off - and today I stayed home cuz last night wasn't much better and my eyelids are still puffy and I feel like crap. DD has been warned about 'being mean' and abusive (it's fun making Gil angry!) - this from a 16 yr old.

Ate today probably out of boredom and obviously emotional eating in there too - I am hoping tomorrow when I am back at work I can be in better control.

The good news is I managed to find some adjustable leg weights (at Walmart after looking in many sports stores!) - and I actually did my weight training exercises (upper and lower body on my own sunday evening - unbelievable - and I survived. Put on some music - got out my binder (in case I needed to look up any of the exercises which I may have forgotten) and puffed away.

Tomorrow night I exercise again with the group of course - and we have some sort of speaker coming - I think about pedometers and we are supposed to bring one if we have it - and I believe we are to start wearing them and monitoring our steps in addition to the weight training!

aw, Frouf, what a shame I' so sorry to hear that the dinner date was a bust. Maybe you can try again after things cool down.

Good for you though getting the exercise in. I went to a step class tonight and feel virtuous.

Congrats on the pound Vickie...gone forever!

I'm going back to the TV...watching the South Carolina debates..

Congratulations, Vickie. I am happy for you. Enjoy your hibernation. Sounds like cuddle time to me.

Paula, thank you in advance for posting the chocolate cake recipe for us. I cleaned out closets when we moved. I know exactly what you were doing. It's amazing how things accumulate, isn't it?

Frouf, I'm so sorry your anniversary date turned out the way it did. That's really sad. I would have been having emotional eating, too. That's good that you got the weights at Walmart. I'll bet you got a good deal on them, too.

Rhonda, congratulations to you, too, for going to step class.

Sandra, I did find the chocolate cake receipe under Desserts. It was posted 8/6/6. This is very good for a chocolate fix.

When I make it I use all Oatmeal.

As posted:
This came from BCB core board. I used my 8 section mini cake pan and it took 20 minutes. I tried a little piece out of the oven, and it's very good. I used one cup oatmeal and one cup oat bran.

"CHOCOLATE CAKE"
Servings: 8

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. (I use a small toaster/convection oven.)

Line an 8X8" pan with Reynold's Non-Stick aluminum foil or spray with non-stick spray.

In one bowl, stir:

2 Cups oat bran
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder (Rumford, aluminum-free, is good)
1 tsp. baking soda
Package of chocolate pudding mix, small (I used regular, but use FF/SF for all-CORE)
1/4 Cup of cocoa, unsweetened
3 Splenda packets
Pinch of salt

In another bowl, mix:

3 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 Cup FF milk
1/2 C. applesauce, unsweetened (I use a 4 oz. pre-portioned container)
1 TBS. instant espresso coffee crystals

Add liquid bowl into dry bowl, mix quickly and pour into pan; put pan into oven for 25 minutes (or until sides of cake have pulled away from pan; cracks may appear on top). COOL.
