Rhonda, I hope these clean pages get dirty. I'm OP today. We're going to WW in the AM. I don't have high hopes of a good WI.

Hi Girls

Well I did my weigh in and was down another 1.8 yippee! It really does feel good to see a drop and it just makes me want more weigh-in's like that. I have set 2 lb goals from now until Christmas so next week I need to see a 2.2 drop in order to balance this week's goal out and I think I can do it!

Going to organize all the Christmas decorations this week and start to get them put up on Saturday. (James put up the outside lights this past weekend.) I am doing a LOT of entertaining here this holiday season so I want the house to sparkle from every direction.

I come from a rather large family - (7 brothers and 2 sisters - I'm the eighth from the top... ) and we are pretty much kicking off the festivities December 1st so I will be desperately looking to load up the house with CORE treats. (sounds like a lot of Shrimp rings doesn't it!)

Hope you are all having a great Monday.

Lytricia...shrimp rings are good...go for it. Congrats on the weight loss. I think I'm probably down another pound also, but I haven't weighed in yet. Good luck with your 2 pound a week goal....I would have to do a lot of exercise to accomplish that each week. But, it can be done!

The entertaining sounds like a lot of fun (and work, but why not!?).

We will be having a quiet holiday here, by choice. We are going to be cleaning house like crazy. I am putting the house on the market in 18 months and am determined not to have do all the work at the last minute. So, there will be a lot of purging going on here.

I've got an 11 hour day at work tomorrow, so I might not be posting much....let's hear from some of you lurkers! How's it going for you? Are you enjoying Core, losing weight? Maintaining? What's up!

Lytricia, congratulations. I'm struggling to lose 1 lb per week. Well, I should have struggled more the past few days. I wish you the best of success.

Patti, it's good to have you back. I'm sorry you're sick. Take care.

Rhonda, you are smart to declutter early. Curtis and I are good examples of what not to do. Okay, Cuz, let's keep on decluttering our bodies, too.

Did ya'll see how many hits this thread's getting? Should be a lot more posts, don't you think? Would some of you pop in to say, "Hi" or something? We all need all the support we can get--and you'll get more support yourself if you participate. That's my thoughts anyway.

Good Morning Chicks! We are back online. I missed it. It took a lot to do so. We ordered a new Dell. I like to build them myself so I get exactly what I want but the down side is that you have to wait for them to arrive. I've still got to transfer the old data over. I ordered a product called the tornado and it is supposed to open up a "to" and "from" drag and drop window just by connecting the two hard drives together. We'll see. I still have to figure out a printer and all the software. I'm mad at HP. Long story short, I also had to replace a perfectly good printer because HP wanted to charge me $67 for a new cable that would work with the new computer. I bought a new canon instead!

We are still going crazy around here trying to prepare for Jim to have surgery on the 4th. I don't know how much I told all of you. He went for pre-op tests and had an irregular EKG and an abnormal liver enzyme. He was referred for a cardiac consult which we have already been to. The second EKG was ok but because of his age, weight, diabetes the Cardiologist sent him for his first stress test. He had the fancy nuclear radioactive one last Wednesday and we are still waiting for the results. We are trying to tell ourselves that it must be ok if they let him leave and haven't called us back yet. We went to see the Internist yesterday about the liver enzymes. He can't figure out what's up but we have a plan. He thinks it may be elevated because Jim was taking so much ibuprofen when he had a virus. Also, Jim started taking those little Promise Activ Supershots to lower his cholesterol. Since cholesterol is processed by the liver these could also be culprits. He had Jim stop all OTC medicine and the supershots and he is going back for another blood test on Saturday morning. He'll have the results on Monday. So...if the stress test is good and the blood test is good then Jim will be having surgery a week from today.

Wouldn't you think I'd be sick to my stomach and not eating? Nope...I'm eating just fine.

I did go to WW yesterday and lost .8 for the last two weeks. I bought another strip of 14 weigh in coupons and I'm good to go. I'm glad that Thanksgiving is over and I'm trying to get back into cooking mode since I do better when I'm not tempted by fast or carry out food.

I had an appointment with the Internist too and I'm on antibitotics for an ear and sinus infection.

We haven't put one Christmas decoration up yet and have decided not to put the Christmas tree up at all. My shopping is nearly done but I have NO Christmas spirit. My Niece is quite put out with me. I don't know what is wrong with me since Christmas is normally a very happy time of year for me.

Lytricia, you're doing great! It's great to have goals as long as you don't beat yourself up if you don't make them. My goal for myself now is to stay the same or lose something every week.

Welcome home, Patti! Sorry you're not feeling well. I understand.

Rhonda and Sandra, neither of you sound your sparkling selves. Anything we can do to help? Sandra, did you go to weigh in?

I have a hair appointment late this afternoon and have to decide what I'll cook when I get home. I'm thinking chicken chili and corncakes. Yum!!!!

Have a great day chicks! I need to get back into my water. I haven't been so good at it myself lately.

Just a quick "HI" to everyone.
Will have to read the post later.
Weighed in last night. Gained another pound.
I am really upset with myself. For not being able to get back on track. Seems like no matter how hard I try. I cant get there.
Well I hope everyone is doing ok.
Thinking of each of you.
Have a wonderful evening.

Hi All:

Loooonnnggg day today. Totally enjoyed myself not eating Core after about 2 PM...bad, really bad
I went to three receptions today and they all had such good food available. I tried not to be too bad, focussed on eating salmon...high calorie but Core!

Well, anyway, I've set Dec. 3rd as the date I get back to so watch out!!!

Vickie, I've got "novemberitis." It comes on every year as the rain comes, the leaves are all on the ground, it's dark by 5PM, the school term drags on, everyone is cranky, etc....it will pass.

I'm sorry to hear that Jim's health is troubling, but let's hope that all improves soon.

Coco, OK, you can get there. It won't help to be negative or to put yourself down. At least you are paying attention, and that is very good. Get back to basics (says she who really splurged today!).

OK, I'm really tired tonight and am going to bed.

Rhonda

ps: I know that I am also puzzled by the number of people who are looking at what we write and are not participating. On the one hand, I hope they are getting what they need, on the other, I'm a little irritated that they aren't contributing. I should try to get over that, I suppose.

Hi there. it's good to see activity here today. It's been lonely here.

We went to WW today for WI. Guess who lost 2 pounds this week? It wasn't Curtis. All I can say is I have renewed faith in miracles. Our leader told us to be sure to be there every week beginning Dec 9 as she's going to be going over new program. I imagine new program will be coming out everywhere that week so all of you might want to go.

She said we'd be getting new handouts for 10 weeks. That's all I know.

Vickie, it's so good to see you here. I am wishing you and Jim the best of health. I hope all tests come back good and Jim has his surgery and gets on to a speedy recovery. Kudos to you for staying on program. I am proud of you. You're a strong woman to do so. I don't blame you for not putting up a Christmas tree. We're not going to either. We're overwhelmed with everything we need to do here at the ranch.

I am going to Ft. Worth tomorrow to Christmas shop. I should be finished after that. Life is good.

Rhonda, remember what I said in the e? Go get you an all inclusive trip to some island or the Mexican coast if you need to get away. I think you could have a good weekend trip. We've sort of talked about doing it. We're just too busy right now. (And, of course, there's archery.)

Coco, I don't know what to say. Just don't give up.

I have been feeling like Rhonda in being just a tad upset over so many lurkers. Did ya'll see how many hits this site's been getting? And how few posts? I hope all who are lurking are getting something out of what they're reading. One of the reason we come here is to help others. We also come here to receive help. I'm not depressed or anything. I'm just wanting this board to come alive again. Maybe after the holidays things will perk up if they don't sooner.

I get it, Rhonda and Sandra. I used to feel that way too sometimes.

Coco, Sandra is right. DON'T give up. Get out your materials and start over. Maybe you should post your menus again for a while. Maybe we can help.

Jim has been cleared by the Cardiologist although they want him to have an echocardiagram after his shoulder is recuperated. Apparently, the heart function is lower than they like. Now if we can conquer the liver enzymes, he'll be good to go.

I was great on program today and drank 8 glasses of water in addition to all the decaf beverages. Guess where I spent much of the day.........

Tomorrow will be busy for me with decorating the house. We put lights up outside today. I've been up since 4 am so I'm off to bed now. I'll definitely be back in the morning.

First I must call Dell since the new computer is not working right. It has frozen twice.

OMG, Sandra. I was so busy focusing on your mood that I missed that you lost 2 pounds this week. HUGE congratulations to you. You must have done something right.

Ok.....take it as the gift that it was and run with it GF. You can keep up the momentum. When I first started Core it was in September of 2004, I lost through the entire holiday season and I was never hungry and I never felt deprived. Sometimes I feel like this is all a state of mind.

I intend to get back to that mentality.

Good early morning, all:

It's 5AM and I've been tossing and turning since 3:30. I'll go back to bed soon, but just checked to see what's happening.

Vickie, I hope you know that we are thinking of you and Jim...I bet even some of the lurkers are too!!

About a state of mind: Over the last few years I have successfully lost and kept off 30 pounds. It's normally been about wanting to look better for this or that event. Now, it really has to be about better health for me. (Of course, there IS another reunion in the Spring )

I set Dec. 3rd as a deadline to get moving again because it is the first anniversary of my sister's death. I am convinced, rightly or wrongly, that if she had moved more she would likely still be among the living. Maybe I shouldn't tie my own behaviour to her death. But, maybe I should....it should be a good motivator and a push beyond hypocrisy. Who am I to say what she should have done? I have to do what I have to do.

It's been about 6 months since I seriously did any aerobic exercise. I'm good about free weights, floor exercises and walking. It puzzles me because I actually like moving.

This really is about making ourselves the number ONE priority, and there is nothing wrong with that. Women are too self-sacrificial, putting others' well-being above our own. Not that there aren't selfish women...but, I don't think they're on this board!! (Vickie, I echo Sandra's congrats to you about staying OP while under stress!!)

On to Christmas trees: I, too, may not have one. There won't be any children here this season, so DH and I may not have one. Our space is small, so it is hard to fit one in. I like the twinkling lights though, so I'll have to put some up inside. I saw in one house that someone outlined a tree on a wall with lights, hung up a few ornaments, put a star on top and some presents underneath, and called it a tree ...cute, and space efficient.

But, I will definitely decorate in other ways...I love the season and keeping the commercialism at bay

Ok, it's time to try to get more sleep

Rhonda

Rhonda, I'm a firm believer in learning the lessons that life tries to teach us. I remember when your Sister died. She'd want you to benefit from her life in whatever way you can.

I need to be more aerobic too. I'm trying to be better about making time for me and whatever I need. IMHO, we need to stop thinking that taking care of ourselves is selfish. The whole meeting this week at WW was about not letting life become an obtacle to our weight loss programs and about not making excuses. I'm trying not to let my situation here be an excuse for my not taking care of my own business. The point was that life ALWAYS gets in the way if we let it.

If I'm honest with myself, I have to admit that I'm guilty of using excuses in my life. If I wanted to exercise, I'd plan it into my day and get it done. If I knew that eating at home was better for me, I'd make it a point to shop and cook. It has to stop.

Rhonda, BTW, I loved you message. It was meaningful AND pretty! And...I just want you to know that I don't think you were saying that women who focus on themselves are selfish. Rather, this is the mentality that you wish we would all get over. Very important words for us all to keep in mind.

Now...I'm off to figure out what to cook for dinner even though I'll be too busy decorating to cook! Just kidding. I'm making a Core meal a priority.

Lurkers.....in case you haven't clearly heard what Rhonda and Sandra are saying, it's that we all need the support that your posting too would give us. We love newbies and will try to help you in return. None of knew each other before we started posting here before....well except Sandra and Rhonda. Hop in here and tell us about your Core experiences. You can just talk about program if that's all you wish to share.

Ok everyone....have a great Core day.

Right, Vickie!!!!! Absolutely. In general, women forget to care for themselves and give too much of themselves to others' needs. There is an expression: "If I am not for myself, who is?" We need to keep it in mind, and take good care of ourselves.

and, you're absolutely right about my sister..thanks for reminding me.

I slept until 10 AM and now have to RUN!!! Oh, that was good sleep....

BBL today,
Rhonda
