hi there, chickies. i'm sitting downstairs in front of 2 puters. i have scrabble going on one and you all on the other. life is good.
we had the grands yesterday and today. that led to a few food challenges, but curtis and i managed to hang in there. he also went fishing with a bud yesterday. i packed him a core picnic to take. today we grilled burgers. used a few pts today but we had then to spend. so far so good.
rhonda, congratulations on getting the scales moving downward. my goal is still 1 lb per week. just think where we'll be in 3 months if we lose 1 per week. won't that be grand?
coco, do you go to ww meetings? that would probably help.
frouf, you and little ds had a wonderful outing. makes me smile. okay, now i'm going to kick you in the bunny tail. get back op right now. remember your cruise will soon be here. (i love you.)
vickie, i like what you said about looking forward. good thinking.
lj, that was a good meeting, wasn't it? curtis is still talking about it, too. he told me today he learned a lot at it. we'd both been craving a good burger. that's why we had ours today and counted the pts. i used to try to hoarde my pts. not good.
tiki, congrats on a good weightloss. you have to have done a lot of things right. i'm proud of you.
paula, he's being so cute trying to make excuses for why he lost so much the first week (ate a lot right before joining, etc.....) i told him to stop trying to belittle his loss and to enjoy it. he earned it. i was worred about his fishing/picnicking with a buddy trip yesterday but he came home logging in his veggies, pts, etc..... he's still focused. thank goodness.
okay, coco, consider your butt kicked. (i love you.) i kicked you so you don't have to keep kicking yourself. you know what to do. you're like i am and know the program backwards and forwards. just decide what you want and go for it.
here's a quote that i got from ww back in the late 1960's. (yes, chickies, i'm old. i know some of you weren't born yet.)
"a minute on the lip; forever on the hip."
here's another:
"a sliver--a slice-a slab---a slob."
ww used to be tough on us, didn't they? those are not positive statements. ww is much more positive in the way they speak to us today. honestly, i don't know which is the better approach. i lost and gained with both methods.
last night the grands and i were going through some old jewelry i had here in my armoir. we found a letter written to me from my 5th grade teacher. she'd written it to me about 25 years ago and passed it to me with some of her antique jewelry. (i was her pet. i was in her class back in 1959.)
in the letter she told me how special i had always been to her and she gave me some advice about how to dress properly. she even encouraged me to watch oprah.

she was the kind of teacher who always told us "like it was." i remember one time when i was sitting on row 3, she told a boy with a drippy nose to go to the bathroom and clean his face. she told our whole class,
"i love all of you and i will tell you when i think you're beautiful, and i'll tell you when i think you need to blow your nose."
we all loved and respected our "simon cowell before his time." that woman impacted a lot of lives in a wonderful way.
(how did i get onto that?)
congratulations to each and every one of you (us). coming here and posting and helping each other is a HUGE way to helping ourselves. we're going to get to our goals. and just look at how many friends and how much fun we're having on the way!!!!!!
gotta run now. i'm off my soapbox. but before i go--will each of you kick my butt every time i need it?
