  • Free- I CAN'T WAIT TO RUN FOR 20 MINUTES STRAIGHT!! That must've felt incredible!
  • Completed W6D1 over the weekend. Also did W1D1 twice (on Friday and Sunday) with the BF.

    I'm insanely proud of him.
  • Great job knobhdy, to you and the bf

Question, has anyone tried to combine this program with another? I want to do both this and turbo fire but I'm kind of afraid to over do it and hurt myself..
  • W7D2 done....Today was really mental. My body and breathing felt great but my mind just wanted to check out. It was like my mind was telling my legs just to quit moving I kept telling myself that I felt fineand that walking was not an option. I prayed, it worked and I finished!!!!! All 25 minutes. The funny thing is that I felt like my body had a little more to give but I stopped at 25 minutes anyway.

KAY7JAY....I also do Tae Bo on my non-running days (with a rest day every week). I find that my knees feel fine after my run but when I exercise the next day I started noticing that my knees felt weird. I decided to watch any twisty moves doing Tae Bo. It has helped and I still do both.
  • Every time I start this program, I never make it past the first week. I think I'll hop on once I finish Body Revolution. My knees and feet won't bother me nearly as much a couple months from now.

Then try walking first. Head out for half an hour--what feels fast to you for fifteen minutes outbound, then turn around and come home, still walking fast-for-you. If that's too much, start where you can.

The idea that previously inactive people ("couch") can get to running a 30-minute 5K in 9 weeks is absurd and dangerous.
  • Hey JMfan! I think MariaMaria's advice is good.

Also, you could still do the plan but instead of walk/run, you could walk slow at a cool down pace, and then walk as fast as you can during the "run" portion. Then you are still pushing yourself, and the short bursts of pushing your heart rate can be good for building cardiovascular strength.

Also: it is fine to repeat the same week of the C25k program as many times as you need to before you are ready to move on!

Good luck with Body Revolution! Hope to see you back here when you're feeling up to it!

**Oh, and just an update on my end: I started Week 4 today! I had such a hard time getting myself to do it. I had a difficult time with W3D3, and I was so intimidated by the longer running portions this week, but once I got started I ran faster than ever! I am still a little nervous about running 5 minutes straight next session, but I can tell my heart is getting so much healthier (my heart rate gets high when I run, but it drops back to 75% or so in the first minute of walking after the running portions!) It really feels like I am going to be able to do this!
  • Just completed W2D3. Will be starting Week 3 soon.
I'm happy to hear that everyone is having such great success with the program. I'm still a little nervous about the upcoming weeks but hearing everyone's success is surely helping.
Like I said before, I might just repeat a day if it feels too hard or exhausting for me. I'm not in any hurry and I have plenty of time to complete the program.
  • I just did W1D1, so very new to this - but I actually enjoyed myself! When I tried exercising previously I just felt like I had to fight my body and defeat it...this time I felt like me and my body can do something good together and I actually enjoyed the idea of being able to run for longer period of time. My legs are killing, I won't lie to you, and I ABSOLUTELY can not imagine I will ever be able to run for 20 minutes or so, but I'm going to stick to this, repeat the weeks as many times as I need, and we will see where it takes me!
  • Thanks free1!

Love this thread, seeing everyones success is awesome
  • Marking W7D3 as done....Horrible run but I'm considering it finished. Actually ran about 28-29 minutes by the time I finished. I didn't each much or well yesterday...not by choice. I was running and tried to grab what I could had a sweet potato for dinner and then ran out to another appointment. I had no energy and my body just couldn't hit go. Kind of scared that this will happen on my 5K day. I also did a vigorous Tae Bo workout on my off day....Maybe my body's just tired. I'll completely rest tomorrow and see if it feels better when I go back out. However, I'm marking this one as finished.

RONJA.... I could barely walk my first week. After that it was so much better. Welcome...
  • Hello all. I thought I'd post in here since I've been doing C25K for a few weeks now. I tried it when I was in the 260's and then in the 220's, but I gave up - I couldn't get past week 3, lol. I was very blah about it then.

But cut to now! I tried W1D1 when I started and I wasn't even winded! Yey! I thought, heck, so I tried W2D1 the next day, same thing. I started W4 at the beginning of May and last night I did W6D1! I'm super proud of myself, lol... And even after all the running, I'm not really out of breath, I'm just too ADHD to not have something going on. I have to be watching TV or running with someone and talking, lol... I'm not sure how well this will work out in an actual 5K, but I shall see.

I'll have to subscribe to this thread so I remember to come back and check in with you all.
  • Thank you free! I can really feel my legs today but I'm totally doing it again tomorrow. I loved saying to my husband "I'm going to run"
Week7..wow! I don't think I'll ever get that far, but I will try anyway - well done!!
  • W1D2 felt better than W1D1 for sure. Probably because I run slower, taking your advice guys. It felt good. In fact, when the last "running" minute was over I did not stop, but I run another minute instead. I think I will actually be able to move to week 2, wow...I know it will get difficult again, but today I feel really encouraged to carry on.
  • YEAH BABY.......I did W8D1 today. I was really worried because my W7D3 run was HORRIBLE. All together I ran the time limit but it was my first bad run of the C25K program. I was determined this run would be better. I slowed down and just tried to stay focused. I realize that I get mentally bored. I can't believe that I am on W8 and almost done with the program. I'm traveling over the next week and a half. My goal is to stay on plan and to keep on track.

    RONJA....Cheering you on to W2
