A nice girl who really needs some support from somewhere....

  • Hello all! I am new, this is my first post ever. I will give you a brief history of myself so you can know who I am and then maybe I can get some advice. Well, I am 27 years old and 5'2. I weigh appox. 195lbs. I carry it well I think, as I am not "plus size" but I live on the line. I live right at a size 14 on the bottom and about a size 18 on top. I was always a normal sized girl until I went through puberty. I was about 150 all the way through HS and then lost about 30lbs in college and was at my lowest weight ever of 120 for a few years. I did it the WRONG way (not eating) so I will not go back down that path. When I turned 21, I gained the weight back and then some. I was about 175 for several years until I got married at 24. My husband moved away for a year that year and I ballooned up to 195 and here I sit. We decided about a year ago that we wanted to start a family but due to my weight issues, have had problems. I do not have PCOS and have been tested but I am hypothyroid. My levels have been normal on all my T levels the past few times I have been checked. I am at my wits end. I have been on Weight Watchers, LA Weightloss and Flatbelly in the past few years and nothing seems to work. OR, I seem to work at nothing. I am ready to start a family but I need to be healthy before I am responsible for anyone else.

Last thing is, my husband lost 100lbs 10 years ago, and he is absolutely unforgiving. He thinks I am beautiful and my body is fine but in terms up help, there is none. He is condescending and irritating about the whole thing. there is nothing helpful about him.

What should I do? Where should I turn? I am ready and motivated with nowhere to go.
  • Anyone?
  • Hi. Welcome

Nice to have you here. I suggest you just kind of look around and then jump right in, so to speak.

You will find stuff you can relate to and stuff you cannot. Its all good. Take what you need and leave the rest.

Good Luck and do not let grumpy hubby get to you. Your path is not his and vice versa.

  • Welcome. Hang in there, you'll get some responses. Now, about your journey. It is yours and nobody elses. We are all similar, but definitely NOT the same in how we lose weight and get healthy.
You should let your husband know that, very clearly.

As far as advice, there are many plans that you can research here, and lots of people trying many different things. You will get honesty, support, encouragement, and lots of inspiration her, just keep poking around.
It took me close to a month before I settled on something more concrete. What I have learned so far is that there are people from all walks of life, all over the world who are successfully getting healthy, and using this forum for support. that is a good enough start for me.

Good luck, and I look forward to hearing about your successes!
