GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Don't have time to post right now, have to get Michael off to school soon then come home for my walk, but wanted to make sure I got our MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM:

THE WILL TO ACHIEVE

Do you have the will to achieve? You already have the necessary basic skills -- you have the ability to learn, you can think, make decisions and take action. The resources you need are out there. The knowledge and information you'll need can also be obtained.

The big question is this. Do you really want to achieve? When you decide you do, when you commit to making it happen, you can reach whatever goals you choose to pursue.

The biggest factor in your success is you. Knowledge, information, skills and resources all play a part, to be sure. Yet success hinges mostly on your will to make it happen. Without sufficient will, all the advantages in the world won't do you much good. With enough willpower, no obstacle can prevent you from achieving what you have decided to achieve.

Are you willing to make it happen? If you're not, you can be willing anytime you choose. It's a simple decision and it is up to you. Be willing, and your life can be whatever you decide it's going to be.

-- Ralph Marston

*************

I'll check in with you all later this morning-have a wonderful SB WEEK!!!!

Default Good morning, friends!

Boy was Frog right. . . the weather has really been nasty the last several days. I got all geared up to go for a walk Saturday, stepped out the door, and it started raining on me. Because that would've been my 1st attempt since starting SB, and I'm not enough of a trooper yet to exercise in the rain, I promptly came back inside.
Better luck this week (I hope). Although I have to go back to work. Have to start preparing for all those sweet little first graders who'll be showing up in a couple of weeks.

I wanted everyone to know that I spoke with Belinda Wannabe last night on the phone. She is bringing her mom into town today to move her into the assisted living/Alzheimer's home. Bless her heart, she was having a terrible time. This past weekend has been very emotional and difficult. Lots of folks have come by her mom's to say "good-bye" and it's been hard for her to endure. She is going to need lots of TLC this week. Thought you would all like to know.

Deb - I think the carob peanuts are O.K. They are supposed to be sugar free also. They better not be lying to me!

Adam - Happy Birthday to You!!!

Frog - sorry you are having such a rough time, sweety! We will take a road trip to Yoder's Country Market. You go out NC62 north all the way to Yanceyville, then you make a couple of turns. It's easy to find, but it would be fun to go together. Thanks for your sweet comments about our family.

VAbutterly - great photos! You're a doll. Hey, I've got a great photo of me with BelindaW. Maybe if I can find it in this house somewhere, I can have her scan it for us!

Melf - I don't have any other browser options on my computer, but I'm learning how to "psyche-out" this thing a little.

I'm trying to think of something motivational to say to everyone, but I haven't been very motivated this week. . . hmmmm. . .I'll think about it and report back. Hey, wait! Hearing from all of you and seeing your results has made me more resolved that I can do this too. Your will power is rubbing off on me. What a wonderful, special group of people. Thanks for being there! Hope everyone has a lovely week!

Good Monday morning everyone. Just got home from bike riding with my hubbys Aunt. I am so nice lol! she is a big woman whos hubby just retired and wanted to see where the bike path was here in my town. Her hubby just started back to the gym now that he is retired and the bike path is right across the street-boy do i have a big mouth!!!! After our ride she said "o.k now Roland goes Mon, wens, and Fri-see you wendsday??" Ugggg! i have to leave my house at 7:05 (i rode there from my house!) I guess i can deal with it for two weeks untill she goes to Fla. for two weeks! I am planning on liftiing some weights for a bit too. I felt like i got a work out just didn't sweat (maybe cuz it was to early!) We got about an hour in soooooo! maybe a different type of excersise will help!
We stayed at the beach over night after dropping number 1 son off at camp -the little sucker didn't even hug and kiss me!! lol. The food Sat and Sun was not Sugarbuster legal! hubby fell off the wagon big time i was shocked! Todays a new day right?? OHHHHHH!!!!! in our travels i found a Big health food store. No active nectar! i did find some legal bagels which i never can around here. They where pricey but hubby said go for it! They had tons of Ezicials bread and pitas. the other thing i saw but didn't buy because i didn't have any ice in the cooler was a ready made wheat pie crust! I was foaming at the mouth but couldn't drive 3 hours with that to thaw! I really need to get to a big health food store with a cooler. This way of eating would be easier, but i have done well with what i can find!

Deb-loved the pics!!!! your kids are very cute! piggy back looked like fun!

Grinchy-when does school start for you? I love the sound of that!!! i can't wait till my little buggers are gone, but then i will be whining cuz i miss them!

Trying to remember the posts from yesterday but of course they names don't go with all the posts that i have in my head!

Belinda- ((hugs)) hope you got mom moved safely!

HI to everyone else!!!!!!!!

Good Monday morning everyone

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KYMN

I missed posting on the weekend as usual as I was working, plus I worked a double shift on Friday, so I have a lot of catching up to do. I did manage to get a bike ride in last evening plus I did 5 miles on the SB. That was the first I had done all weekend. I'll have to try to make up for it on my days off.

AmyG - Breads should be made with Whole Grain flour as this is the least processed. Whole Meal is more refined which causes the glycemic index to be higher. It also has some of the nutrients removed whereas Whole Grain has all the nutrients intact. If you are using wheat bread it should be made with Stone Ground Whole Wheat. The Rye Bread you mentioned may be O.K. - I think it depends on the amount of whole meal flours compared to the whole grain that it contains. The only other ingredient I see that is questionable are the sultanas but I think it would depend on how many are in the bread. If you see just a couple in each slice of bread I can't see that it would be a problem. JMHO. When I have coffee I use either 2% milk or 10% cream.

There is an article on our FOOD INFORMATION BOARD about Whole Grain Flours which you might like to check out. Here's the link:
http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/show...?threadid=2365

Deb - It was great 'talking' to you the other day. Even if you have no cooking or sewing skllls (as you say) you have other skills which are appreciated by all of us, and that is good COMMUNICATION SKILLS. Without that this board would not be as successful as it is. They were great pics you posted. The piggy back ride looked good. Lauren looks like a second Debbie. Glad to hear the scale is going down again. Too bad you discovered Eli's hiding place for the cookies. I guess he'll have to find another one

Kim - Sorry to hear of the trouble you are having staying on the wagon. For me the thing that keeps me going is that no way do I want to gain back what I have lost - which is a total of 35 pounds. Even though I haven't lost much recently and it is coming off very slowly I still get comments from people at work, even from those I see quite frequently, about how much I have lost and how much thinner I look. A few people comment on others who have lost and gained it all back and some and seem surprised that I have kept off what I have lost. These are all incentives to keep going. I am not perfect by any means as I do like a treat once in a while (too often probably) although I do not eat much sweet stuff but sometimes too much of the legal stuff. I hope you can find the strength to keep going as you know it is a healthy woe and it does work. I just hope you don't sabotage what you have achieved so far. You know we are all here for you. KEEP AT IT GIRL. Hope you had a good weekend with your family.

Fly - I wouldn't worry about those carrots - raw carrots only have a gi of 30. It's the cooked carrots that have the higher gi. I have a school picture of my eldest son taken in either kindergarten or grade 1 where he has a chunk chopped out of the front of his hair. Glad you enjoyed the weekend with your family. I enjoyed seeing your pictures. I see you have lost 12 pounds since you started a month ago. That's an average of three pounds per week which I think is a good loss. Some people do lose a lot to begin with then it slows down - this is not unusual. The initial loss is probably mainly fluid. It is recommended that we lose no more than an average of two pounds per week. If we are losing more we are probably losing muscle not fat. I'm sure you will be losing some more soon. Just hang in there.

Rhroo - Have a good week while son #2 is at camp.

Nance - Hope Dan the Man got home safely. I'm awaiting the next episode of the Love Story.

Frog - Hope you are feeling better. It must be a good feeling to be told that you are a 'healthy woman'. Sounds like you have found a good, considerate doctor. The one you had before sounds rather ignorant. Some of them have absolutely no bedside manner.

Adams_Rib - Hope you enjoyed shopping and got the furniture you wanted. Your hubby sounds like a smart guy. It took many years before I got the furniture I wanted and there's still room for improvement.

Melf - Hope you have a good day at work tomorrow. It's good that you can get back slowly. Hopefully you will be feeling better before you have your long stretch of days to work. I enjoyed our chat the other day.

Solshine - Enjoyed reading your story of how you met Vince.

Grinchy - Congrats on the 2 pounds lost. Your London Broil sounded delicious. I haven't done any crockpot cooking for a while maybe I should try it again. Sorry you missed out on your walk on Saturday. Hope you are able to get started soon. Thanks for filling us in on BelindaW and her Mom. This must be a very difficult time for her.

BelindaW - My thoughts and prayers are with you. I can understand what you must be going through.

Gatorga - That sounds like an interesting article you found on the Food Pyramid. It does reinforce what we are doing. I'll have to see if I can find the article on line. Hope you have a good vacation.

BOB - Glad you enjoyed the engagement party. Hope you are feeling better by the time you get to visit the Detox Dungeon!!!!!!!!!

Gotta run. My ds returned from camping yesterday and I have quite a pile of laundry waiting for me.

Have a good week everyone.

Marie.

Good Morning Again!

While taking Michael to school this morning the heavens decided to open up and rain down cats and dogs. I figured I'd bag my walking today, but not long after getting home, the sun came out and I figured I really had no excuses not to walk. It was about an hour later than I usually get out, so it was much hotter-so I just walked. Thought I'd make it short, but ended up going the full 4.5 miles I usually go. I thought to myself, tomorrow is the EOM and I have a goal and this walk may help me reach that goal-so here's hoping!

I'm actually at my EOM goal weight of 127, scale moved down again, though I'm still up 1.5lbs from my all time low-I'm just hoping I can maintain this weight for tomorrow's EOM goal or go down (that wouldn't be so bad), and hopefully, have a good WIW as well.

I don't see that we have any August birthdays next month. If someone's b.day IS in August, please let me know, as I don't see anyone with a BIO on the BIO BOARD listed as having one in August.

Also, I started the SUGAR BUSTERS 2001 PHOTO ALBUM BOARD I thought once 2002 rolls around, we'll make a new thread and so on. Whenever you have a picture/picture link you'd like to share with the board, please, post it right here on the WEEKLY SUPPORT BOARD. If it's one you'd like to keep up, then post it on the PHOTO ABLUM BOARD to archive it.

GRINCHY, sorry to hear you had bad weather and didn't get in your walk-hope you are able to do so before you have to go back to the kiddies-once you start walking, you'll be amazed on how good you feel. It rained here, so I went out after-if it was much longer of a wait, I would of said forget it, but just an hour later and a little hotter, but I got out there Thanks for the update on BELINDA, we're all here to support her any way we can. Where did you buy the carob peanuts? The only ones I know of that are sugar free are ones from SUNSPIRE. They also have unsweetened carob covered almonds which are delicious, so I rarely buy them (haven't in a few months). Enjoy them, but remember, MODERATION!!!!

RHOO, haven't forgotten the pics-they were too big to load up on the regular site, so I will go ahead and load them on my ftp space that AOL gives me today and send you the links for you to post them. Hey, why not make your own pie crust-seems easy enough, gosh knows I have enough recipes for them, plus, there are some on the recipe boards. I don't know about the piggy back ride being fun, I was sorta screaming thinking Michael was going to drop me, BUT, to me, it was more amazing to think my son was able to pick me up! I still don't think of myself as thinner, so this was just another thing I experienced that I never thought I would! Hey, 3lbs til goal?!? I'm anxiously awaiting for you to hit it!!!

ROSALIE, it was fun chatting with you as well the other day. Thanks for pulling up the FOOD INFORMATION BOARD. Lauren would LOVE to hear that you think she looks like me, but honestly, she looks a lot like her Dad, which she isn't thrilled with having his attributes-but I guess there must be some of my looks there because many people say she looks like me. I think I may bake again today and give whatever I don't scarf down to Eli to hide-trust me, he can hide things REALLY good-I just have to be out of eye range when he pulls whatever out of it's hiding place. It's funny how I can have so much control over chocolate that I use to not have, but when I bake something SB LEGAL, I have absolutely NO CONTROL. I think if I were to get the nutritional information while it's baking, that may change. I eat the stuff and THEN see the calories, fats, etc. and then I stop-maybe if I knew this information before, it would help me curtail the binge! Thanks for the kind words about my communication skills How's the scale for you today???

AR, any big plans for your birthday tomorrow?

Okay, I'm headed to the kitchen to get some vittles, so I'll check in with you all later! Please remember, TOMORROW IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST Hope you all can make it!

Morning ALL

I'm still around, but just busy.

Haven't had time to write or read much. Had Marie's b-day party saturday and we swam all day sunday. The party was great and she had a ball and received some wonderful gifts. Will miss her soo much after she leaves tomorrow. Going to see her tonight and wish her a happy b-day again 16 years old. I only wish.

Frog- My parents actually hosted her and she was with us alot though. They did it through the school on a french exchange student summer program. She actually wants to stay alot longer and we talked about maybe her coming back during her holiday time off. It's cheaper for her to fly out of Spain instead of france and on the program they have to fly out of France. If she come over in the winter it wouldn't be apart of the exchange program. I think we'll be having a long time relationship with her. She is such a joy to be around.

Well am doing well with the foods, but still not weighed myself. Still around the same though, I know I haven't gained at all. I have actually got my cubicle neighbor to start SB and she's already lost a few lbs.

Well gotta get back to work.

Debbie - Have you thought of checking ingredients on Fitday before you bake? They have listings of individual items like whole wheat flour, margarine, oil, peanut butter etc. If you made a list of the things you commonly use you could figure things out before you bake and know how many calories, carbs etc. per serving.

Default I'm back again!

Deb - we got the sugar-free carob-coated peanuts at that Mennonite country store (Yoder's Country Market) in NC that we visited on Sat. I don't know what brand they are because they buy in bulk and then repackage in smaller amounts. Don't worry. . . I won't eat too many cause they don't give me enough of a chocolate thrill anyway!

I polished off the last of my husband's London Broil/stew from Sat. night. Now I have a bit of indigestion.

I forgot to tell about how I met my husband. . .we were both in a community theatre production of "H.M.S. Pinafore" here in Burlington, NC back in 1987. Not long after that he asked me out on our first date, and even though I said "yes" I was still somewhat hesitant. A close friend asked, "Do you want to get married, or do you just want to go out and have a good time?" I said, "I want to have a good time." That same friend and his wife directed our wedding! We were married on June 2, 1990.

Have a teeth-cleaning appt. this afternoon. Can't wait for that! Catch everyone later!

Default Happy Monday!

MOTIVATION MONDAY CONTRIBUTION: "The only failure is not knowing how to be happy". Celine Dion:My Story

Did my run early today and I find I like that. I can see why Debbie gets it over with early. It's raining for day #2 here. Hope it clears pretty soon. Still at 173. Happy it's not 174. I think I am so bummed about weight because I was secretly hoping to be under 170 for the reunion. Dear, wise Rosalie and Debbie are right and I know it. It's just hard when I currently have so much anti-SB flak from dh. I was careful not to talk about it much with him and not to overspend at the store for special food. He still commented at the restaurant the other night when I asked the waitress if flour was in the she crab soup. "Just order it". The only thing I can think about is "is he jealous of the time I spend on the board?" I am tougher than this. It's just more difficult when I'm stuck on the scale. I missed my 1 month anniversary on SB yesterday. Drank 32 oz of h20 so far and I'm swimming.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KYMN!

Grinch-Working with 1st graders can be such fun! You have the coolest job! Looking foward to the pictures.

BW-My prayers and thoughts are with you.

Rhoo-Sounds like a sticky situation with Aunt. Good news is....she probably won't be riding in the winter. I, too, am in the anticipation/dread of back to school. congratulations of finding such a great health food store.

Rosalie-Thanks for the encouragement. 35 lbs. So awesome. Glad to see you're still enjoying the bike. Wish I could ride with you.

Deb-It sounds great to stumble onto positives of weight loss. You deserve it.

RALY-Sounds like you made quite an impact on Maries life. Sorry it has to end so soon.

Default Hey Y'all

I'm at home today, trying to recover my weekend. Can't beleive that I thought I might get somethings done but have the big "D" instead.

Have spoken with the doc's office today regarding that "comatose" medicine I took Friday p.m., the doc is willing to change from 75 mg to 25 mg, but nothing less. Let's hope that I am not ZOMBIE girl tomorrow or I will be staying home again. I have been having an ongoing gyno problem for years, and this is the first doc that has really tried to take an active approach to treating it, therefore, I feel the need to try my best to make it work, even if I am tired until I build up a tolerance.

I hope everyone is having a good day. More gray skys here today, but did catch a glimpse of sunshine. Was able to run yesterday, only got in 2.5 miles though.

GRINCHY - I didn't know that is how you met D! Are you still involved in community theatre? Thanks for the update on BW. I knew this would be a tough weekend. I didn't give much thought to the fact that friends and neighbors would also be stopping in. YIKES! Please let me know if there is anything I can do! Do you think that I could take her some dinner tonight or tomorrow night? Is her sis and her 2 kids coming to town also? I'm in the phone book. Last name Palmer. Road trip to grocery sounds like fun.

DEB - Love the photo album idea!

RIB - Happy Birthday!!!

Gotta go,
Peace,

Hey All!

Well, Mom didn't come and I made some oatmeal (acutally, it's mixed grains-oats, wheat, etc) and found myself having eaten 5 of them. Before Michael left the house, I packed them up and had him hide them from me! Why did I even bake??? I bow my head down in disgust!: If the scale climbs tomorrow, I'll surely know why!

RALY, sounds like everyone had a good time at the party. Michael wants me to host a French student one year, I told him I'd think about it. He's going into his 5th year of French this year and hopes to get to France one day soon. That's great you got a person close to you to start SB-you'll be backbones for each other!!!

ROSALIE, of course I thought about doing it before hand, but when I get the urge to bake something, I do it right then and there and think of everything nutritionally after the fact, besides, it wouldn't be as much fun Just an excuse to have more than I should. As you can see from above, I did it again! Next time, promise to do the math BEFORE I bake!

GRINCHY, I'm sure THOSE people wouldn't lie to you, now would they. I actually have come to like carob a lot. I can tell you, the carob covered peanuts here in the stores are like $5.69 a pound, that alone can keep one from eating too many! What other goodies did you find there??? I love going to places like that! Thanks for sharing your "how we met story". Hope your pearly whites had a nice day at the spa!!!!

FLY, don't let ANYONE, not even DH make you change in regards to SB. Underneath, maybe he doesn't want you to lose, maybe he's insecure-who knows with me and their minds these days! You have every right to ask about anything you are eating. Eli STILL tries to get me to try foods that aren't SB legal and he knows I won't cave in, yet, he keeps offering and suggesting-it doesn't work. I have my mind set-and NO ONE can change it! Too bad I don't have my mind set on cleaning and cooking!

FROG, I expect some of those outrageous pics of you to grace our PHOTO ALBUM!!!! Hope you do better with the lighter dose of that medicine!

Okay, I'm outta here for a while, will check in later this evening!

Toodles

Had another rough day today, but hey, I'm going to survive this thing if it kills me! I see the Neuro tomorrow am. Will post results.

We've started VBS last night & although I'm not teaching, I am a helper & we sure had a good turnout for our small town. 125 in attendance.WOW! Well, I'm doing a quick post from Sunday's board, then off to get ready. Have to get supper ready & pick up 2 of the grandsons for VBS.

Gatorgal Another tid-bit on Eraste Autin, did you know he was a twin? A brother they said. Hey, funny story about your boyfriend showing up for a visit when you were going to pick up boyfriend ie: dh at the airport. LOL Hey, I LOVE grilled tilapia. I found some at Super WalMart, not a bad price either. Need to get some more soon. You just made me hungry for some. Sure hope you enjoyed St Augustine!

Debbie Yes, I guess it's possible that I may be grinding my teeth at night. The ENT had suggested that. Thurman said he's never noticed that I do, but then again...he sleeps like a log, so he wouldn't know. Glad you found those cookies. Cute picture of you & Michael. Lauren sure looks alot like you. Cute kids. Love the picture board!

FROG, Glad to hear that your GYN appt went well & you do sound encouraged. Girl, 33 is young yet. You have time to get that family started. Good luck with that if you're thinking about it. Your medication sounded kind a like mine there, made you a zombie, huh? Yes, I was feeling better for a few days there, but yesterday was the PITS! I go back to Neuro doc tomorrow. I'll post an update on that. Thanks for the well wishes. I do appreciate all of the concern each one has shown to me over the past few weeks.

BUTTERFLY, So glad to hear that your visit turned out so well. Yes, I think I can understand the "blue time" you're having now. How far away are you from the family? Girl, don't fret over the stale in the weight. Some of us stale out for a while before starting to lose again, but don't let it defeat you. The scale WILL move again. Hey, loved the picture you posted of you & your dh. And what a nice looking family. You looked really happy.

KAREN, That fish boil sounds a little like our cajun crawfish boils where we add onion, corn & potaoes to the boil with lots of seasoning. Sorry to hear that your mom is on the decline. My mom seems to have adjusted really well to the Nursing Home since May. We had a phone put in for her so we can keep in touch more often, even when we can't go, but she does get lonely if we don't go often enough. I saw she had called today while I was at work, so I just called her back. I'm hoping to bring her spend the night maybe tomorrow night cause my youngest, Jodi will be coming to visit Wed. & that's her "baby" LOL Will say an extra prayer for you girl.

See ya'll tomorrow evening
