Question Blood type vs. SB diet??

My friend seems to think that because she has type A blood that SB diet does not work good or fast for her. It's only really good for type O blood she said!!! Well, I told her that I am type A and have lost 5 pounds in 6 days! No problems for me??? So, do you think that it's a great excuse for some people or is it true? (find it hard to believe...lol) Come on.. reveal your blood type and weight loss to us and we will see for ourselves....

I'm type B positive and have lost almost 80 pounds in about 15 months on South Beach. I don't see any relationship between blood type and weight loss.

She's not doing the blood diet! I think that is my point. She may be the type that finds an excuse for every diet so that she has a reason for personal lack of devotion to one particular plan! KWIM?

Umm, I think this blood type diet stuff is a bunch of hooey...in my NOT so humble opinion! As you can see from the other members posts, they all have different blood types and have been successful thus far on SBD.

Emily, I think your friend is making excuses. It's her way of denying responsibility for her actions. (Ooops! There I go... )

oooh! Hmmmm....I guess she hasn't come to "that" point in her life where we all are.. hopefully she'll get a wake up call and try something besides the popular Seefood diet.

I'm an RN and have never heard of a person not being able to lose on a diet because of their blood type...
Now maybe because of thyroid issues
lack of physical activity
Just cheating this one time etc etc etc..
but never based on blood type at all!!! If they do discover something and it works it will be interesting though...lol
Still no magic bullet yet though...as some of you have said there is a lot of prep work etc!

I eat according to my blood type, have for years. It's never prevented me from doing any kind of diet. Well maybe the tomato soup diet or the all banana diet
You can customize any diet if you want to. But want is the operative word here. Every blood type can eat fats, carbs and proteins of some sort.

Hi Emily,

I'm type O- and have lost 5 pounds in 6 days. I have hypothyroidism and PCOS!

It sounds like excuses to me. It wasn't too long ago that I was there.

Nothing you say will get her there either. Just be there when she finds her way there and encourage her.

Emily -

I am new here but was quite surprised to see a mention of the blood type diet on this site. I, along with my husband, have been following the blood type diet for 2 years. He has lost 120 lbs (in 7 months) and I have lost 40 (in the first year). I've got my last 10 lbs to go (and this is seemingly taking forever). However, we've both maintained the weight we've lost.

The blood type diet was originally formulated by a doctor to treat/prevent various diseases and conditions. As a side effect, weight loss also occurs. So it's not really what I consider a "diet", more like a way of life. After living this way for 2 years, I don't want to go back to the way I previously ate. I was amazed to find how many "healthy" foods I was eating were actually bad for me. It truly made a difference in both my and my husband's life. I haven't even had a cold in 2 years. Wonderful, considering I used to get colds at the drop of a hat. About 4 per year and always had a least 1 bad case of bronchitis to boot.

This is the first diet I've used (and I've tried many) that has not only let me lose weight, keep it off and feel energized all the time but has also empowered me to not obssess (sp?) over food constantly (ex, why am I starving but can't lose weight?). I can't tell you how wonderful that feeling is, to love and hate food at the same time, I used to think about it constantly. Now I feel free of those thoughts! It is just the greatest thing!

So tell your friend she will be quite happy on the blood type diet if she manages to stick with it. If she just gives it 2 weeks, she'll notice a difference. I wish her luck!

Carmen
