Ok ladies...with TJ's permission, I am starting a new thread here for this challenge. We'll be able to check in and post when/if we do any exercises.
Here is what we're doing:
We are going to measure our exercise by points. 20 mins. of exercise will equal 1 point no matter what type of exercise you do, you get to choose! (Walking, running, WATP, Taebo, lifting weight.....you get the idea)
To make it a little more fun, we are also going to make it a little competition...see who at the end of each week, tally's up the most points. Since some people like a little competition in their lives.....this may help get the body moving.
We'll do this weekly. Starting Monday ending on Sunday. But anyone who would like to jump in on this, can at anytime of the week, (you could still be the most active!)
Come on in and join us on this fun little "get your body moving" challenge.!!
Sounds good to me Marti! Although...I am not too crazy about the competition thing. Never really been the competitive type. But that is just me and I will be doing the challenge because I NEED to exercise for my health. And maybe you ladies competeing will motivate me to do more. Can you tell I am lazy?!
I did get in a loooong walk last night thanks to DS. And will be doing some exercise today. Since the walk was a long one and my feet are still hurting a bit I think I will do the weight training and ride the bike today to stay off my feet.
This is a question... not criticism, ok? But what's the point of posting if you can't list the length of time of the exercise? Won't it seem too competitive to save it all up to report on the last day? I thought the whole idea was to share?
As I said, these are questions from my heart, not at all meant to be taken as a flame, ok? I'm really glad this thread was started and know that it can only help us! Goodness know we can all use some exercise motivation, lol.
ok jana and marti-
the point is, if you know what the other person did, then youll know you only have to do that much to get more than them. but if you keep it a "secret" and only post whether you did/didnt exercise then it motivates the person to do something. and depending on how bad they want to "win" they will do more than they normally would trying to "beat" the others. lol that was a mouth full. however, if you think it would help you all do more by all of us posting exactly how many points we got than thats ok too. i just kept the rules the same as when i was in tops. doesnt matter to me. im willing to do whatever it takes for you to "play" with me. hehehe. just let me know so we can be consistent.
i did not exercise today. had 3 hours of appointments. however, look out tom cause i have no appointments and plan on making up for the lost day. lol i did ex monday.
thank you marti for "making" the new post. you did a great job.
see ya tom. hope everyone is having fun getting moving.
tj
Okay, Jana, I too was thinking the same thing and also posted my exercise and time on the other thread and then saw that TJ wanted to keep it a secret. So...
TJ~I guess I am just opposite because I think with me if I see others post what they are doing it motivates me more than being left in the dark, you know wondering what everyone else is doing. Of course I still won't try to beat the others, don't care for the word beat, but just do what I can.
I would actually prefer to post our exercise and points daily, it makes me feel as I have accomplished something for the day, even though I know I have.
Okay, I am going to bed now. Nighty, night ladies. See ya tomorrow.
Monday I did my crunches and arm lifts, but it doesn't take 20 minutes... I will count a point every other time for those, ok?
Yesterday I played in the yard with the DGDs for almost an hour.. and we were very active! I didn't even get on the treadmill because of it, lol. Since it wasn't a whole hour, I'll only count it as 2 points.
To me, this is not a competition with each of you, it is a competition with myself to see if I can increase my own activity.
ok girlies-
didnt realize it would cause this much hard ship to have a friendly challenge. i am sorry. I shouldve just kept my mouth shut. i feel like i made such a simple thing really difficult. such is my life.
good luck to the rest of you.
tj
TJ - no hardship at all!! Just the opposite - we are so very glad that you started this exercise thing! It is a new and challenging daily test of ourselves that we wouldn't have had without your original thought! The way you say "good luck to the rest of you" makes me think you aren't coming back! That would make all of us very sad! TJ, you are the originator of this, and we love your enthusiasm - it has spilled over to us! So please don't take offense if we, as a team, tweak it a little, ok?
TJ~ditto what Jana said.We don't want to see you go. I was just going along with the challenge part and not necessarily the competetion part.
And I would like to go ahead and post what I have done. As I said in another post, I haven't really set a goal as far as how many points or how much exercise-just going to do what I feel up to doing on any given day-like today I am doing nothing!
Monday~1 hr. walk=3 pts.
Tuesday~1 hr. gardening=3 pts. (It was actually longer but I will stick with the hour)
Wednesday~zilch=0 pts.
TOTAL so far=6 pts. (edited: because apparently I don't know how to add! I had hit the 5 instead of the 6
Tj--I can see what you were wanting to do. And I'm all for it. For me, as Jana wrote, I was going to challenge myself and do the best that I could do for me...and if I were to "beat" anyone with points then that was ok with me too and did add some fun.
So please don't take offense to any of this. I think this is a great challenge and want to see you here with us. You had a great idea and we're here to do this with you.
Here is what I have done so far:
Monday: 30mins. of floor exercises in the morning and the same in the evening. 3pts.
Tuesday: Ok...I was lazy. 0pts.
Wednesday: Today I did 20 mins. of leg exercises. 1pt.
Yesterday I did the crunches and arm lifts, and so if you add it to Monday's, I get 1 more point. I do the same stuff all the time, so my posts here will be very repetitive! I'm finding the crunches less hard to do, and I'm bringing my torso up further, it seems. If I didn't have this big ol' belly getting in the way, it would be easier still!
Yesterday I did 30 min on the treadmill... so can I count that as 1 1/2 points? If so, my new subtotal is 5 1/2. I'll pick up the other half today when I do the other stuff this evening.
Cristi - too bad we can't count our Wal-mart and Hallmark time, lol. We'd log a bunch that way!
Marti - so how're you doing with it? Time for an update, Missy!
