If you have 50 or more pounds to lose, or are losing, this is the group for you! So jump on in and join; you'll be sure to get a warm welcome!
Hope everyone's week is off to a great start! I'm hoping this is the week we'll hear from Janet, Texaslady, Carol, Nascar Girl, Dawn, Bandit, Maharet, Tonya, Hottie and any other past, present or future members! We miss ya! (Y'all remember Saara? Sure wonder how she's doing; such an interesting person.)
Linda, thanks for the encouragement! I think after two years I'm finally really ready to head down to personal goal now. Maybe I needed time to adjust to the "new" me; I kept saying I wanted to get there, but I must not have been fired up about it enough.
JOYce, congrats again on losing over FIVE pounds at your last WI!! That is just terrific! You are well on your way, and I know you'll get there!
I am reading Dr. Phil's new book (from the library; guess I'm not a big enough fan to buy it!). It has some good advice in it, but it looks like he is also now selling his own line of supplements and such. Oh well, that's the American way, I guess! There's a short chapter at the end on maintenance that I think is right on target; I can see myself in it, anyway, in the "danger zone" he calls "relaxed effort." I think that's what did me in this summer! I'm just so happy that I have finally repaired that damage, though, and can work for PG now.
Beautiful weather here today; DH and I will probably take another evening walk. Overslept this morning and missed the early one we usually do. But I'll do my weights this afternoon to make up for it! Hope everyone's having a great Monday!
Hi everyone!
I'm still hanging around, been out of town a good bit. I was up 2 pounds this evening but I feel bloated so I know a big part is fluid. Went to Talledega yesterday what a race! Got a little sun too
Janet Mae I almost bought Dr. Phils book the other day but decided to hold off. Let us know if it's interesting!
Well better hit the hay. Take care everyone!
Hi Nascar Girl! Great to hear from you! The race sounds like fun; I've never been to one. Re: the book, it's okay, but would probably be more useful to someone just starting out or thinking about starting, rather than someone like you who is already well on the way. It's almost all about the psychology of weight loss, changing your mindset and environment, than it is about practical ideas. Worth reading but not re-reading, if that makes sense, and nowadays I try to buy only those books that I know I'll look at more than once. My all-time favorites, that I read over, are Anne Fletcher's Thin for Life, & Cooking Thin for Life, and Fit or Fat? by Covert Bailey.
Gotta run! Hope everyone has a great Tuesday. Can you believe tomorrow is October already??
JOYce, good luck at your WW mtg tomorrow! I think a maintain will be just fine, after that great start! Things are going well here. DH and I are going to Dallas tomorrow to see our friends this weekend. Have folks lined up to take care of Dad.
Things have been really, really quiet in this thread lately. I'm thinking maybe it's time for me to just retire from it. Our oldtimers, Janet, Texaslady and Carol, have pretty much moved on. I sure miss them, but I understand; life happens. Maybe it's time for a new start.
For my part, JOYce and Linda, I will for sure correspond via email, because I NEVER want to lose touch with you gals! And I can thank 3FC for that. There's another site, even, that I'll email you about, where we can keep going.
This will probably be my last post here. If any of our new posters want to continue this thread, PLEASE DO! Nascar Girl, you could lead the group on, y'know! You CAN do this!! And man, it is SO worth it. (Maybe you can convince the 3FC to someday put the group back up a notch where it used to be. We used to have lots more posts when we weren't so many levels down.)
To those who are working to take off 50 or more pounds: keep the faith! You can get there, and stay there. Persevere. It takes time, and there will be plateaus, but it is so worth it. Love to you all ...
Jan, your message was heartfelt, I know. You are bowing out, ever the cheerleader, as usual. I too will enjoy keeping up with you and your adventures through email, so please count me in as someone who'd love to be in your address book. I agreed with everything you said, and to add to it, I would hope that one day we will be in touch with Texaslady, Janet and Carol once again.
Thanks so much for your understanding, JOYce and Linda! I feel bad about leaving the group after all these years, but I just think it's time. I noticed that these forums are being rearranged and it WILL be moving up a little, so maybe it will be easier to find and will become much more active soon!
Jan, keep in touch with me too! I've dropped away from the site, but you, Janet, Texaslady, Joyce and Linda- we "old originals" of the group are never far from my heart and mind.
Carol
