Talking Hello from another new person

Hello everyone - I've been reading this forum for a number of weeks now and thought I'd take the plunge and join in. A little about me I'm 47 5'6" tall and weighed 15.5 at the end of March. I have been a yo-yo dieter since 1984 and am sick to the back teeth of it all!!!
I have successfully lost the weight mainly through diet and exercise and then subsequently put the whole lot back on + more.... You name the diet and I've probably done it. At the moment tho' I have been in hospital for a full hysterectomy and lost about 6lbs or so when I came out. Tried a famous person's detox but couldn't do the whole 28 days so I was soooooo fed up (plus I'd had my photograph taken just before I went into hospital unawares!!!!)

So I've rejoined good old Slimming World, it works for me, and I'm now down to 13.11 which I'm really pleased about. I've got a Fitness for Life prescription from my doctor (not sure whether this is a country wide thing or just NW) and am able to go swimming or have a gym session for £1.40 which that in itself is encouraging. I'm very very positive at the moment but gawd knows how long that will last but you girls will get to hear all the nitty grittys. Hope everyone has a really good weight loss this week and c'yas

Hi Yo-Yo Dee

Wow..what a fantastic weightloss Congratulations
I think SW is a really good plan but i can't follow it because i live in Canada and can't get all the canned stuff over here but i'm going back home next week so i might look into it more while i'm there although i doubt that i'll be losing anything with all the boozing we'll be doing while i'm there but i'll be happy if i can maintain while i'm on holiday

Thanks for the reply Cathy I've been following your progress and I'm impressed where abouts are you staying while you're in Britain? I shall have to get onto the other threads.

By the way I've just eaten a Magnum (ice cream) Revenge I've worked it into my sins (15sins) and to be honest I think I'd rather have 3 double vodkas and slimline bitter lemon!!! Still I'm not wondering anymore....

Keep well

Preston is only 17 miles away from where I live. Bury's roughly the same!!! Blimey well we're heading for another heatwave in August so I hope it's nice while you're over.

I will give those threads a look over. Ah well I can resist anything except temptation eh? Good old Oscar!!!

Yo yo Dee, did it take a lot of work to persuade your doctor to give you the fitness voucher thingy. Would be an interesting incentive to go to the pool, etc. if it was cheaper. I have a load of weight to lose, but am always over the earnings level for any handouts.

Just curious how it all came about.

Hiya Carol

No he was very encouraging - there's this drive at the moment at our doctor's to get people exercising so maybe that helped. Any doctor really should be encouraging if they're worth anything but like I said I don't know whether this scheme runs up there in Scotland. I'd check it out as it's worth it. You just get assessed by one of the girls (believe me they see all sorts not just skinnys!) so don't let that put you off - blood pressure etc and then work out a routine which you can adjust accordingly.

Go for it - you've nothing to lose (sorry!!! I'm in that sort of mood this morning - I'm a pest at times!) and everything to gain but not weight!!!!!

Good luck

Hello Teel I've replied to your pm.

I've been out sunning myself and have not been on the forums until now.

Fitness for Life is a program whereby you go to your doctor and ask for a FFL prescription if the doctor is in a participating scheme with your local leisure centre and deems you fit enough to partake in the scheme he will write out a form for you to take and book an appointment with the people down at the leisure centre and then they assess you and away you go cheap swimming and using the gym facilities for 10 weeks whereupon you get reassessed go back to the docs and get another prescription.

Works very well here in the North West.

I hope that info helps - mind you I don't know whether this is a nationwide thing should be.

Yo-yo dee

weigh in tomorrow

Well done Tory for getting started I've read your journal and I know how you feel - keep at it it's only going to get better!

Well girls after the lovely weather it's absolutely pouring down with rain here - terrific thunderstorm and wonderful lightening. Hope it passes soon - it's doing the garden good tho.

I've had a bit of a party weekend (alcohol.... ho hum) so I'm trying to be really good now. I've the mother of a hangover so I've not been able to go the gym.... madness pure madness but there you go I can't always be an angel eh!!!

Tory my favourite snack is the corned beef flan which is totally free on a red day (substitute c.beef with veggies for green) and tomatoes on toast with no spread yum yum

Anyway I'm off to meet my pals down at the sports centre for a cuppa

Keep it going

Love Yo-yo Dee

We had rain during the night, slightly overcast early this morning, brillant sunshine again now. Hopefully it' sback where you are too.

Slimming world has never appealed, can't stick to anything which says you can't eat this on certain days, I need my food to be flexible. Although a woman work loast over 3 stone on it very easliy - for her
