Default Do I need to eat and/or supplement after I workout?

I keep reading that you are supposed to supplment after a workout, and/or eat within an hour. I have also heard of some supplementing with carbs. I am confused!! Someone please clear this up.

Also, before workout, what is good to eat/drink?

Robin

Hi Robin....

Before a workout I never eat, I go to the gym at 5AM.... if I happen to go later in the day, on Sundays for example, I make sure I have eaten at least 2 to 2.5 hours before hand...

I have a protein shake with Glutamine as soon as I get home after a workout, because they say it's at that time that your muscles need alot of nutrients and they will take it in best...Then I eat again in 2 hours, and by then I'm a very hungry again...

Robin, I just eat a regular meal before my workout. You don't need anyything special.

Dr. C doesn't suggest any special post-workout meal because he does not believe one is necessary. No nbeed to eat within 30 minutes or consume tons of carbs. Just eat every 2-3 hours. I'ver told you before that I use a MRP at the gym after my workout. It is always time for a meal by then anyway.

glutamine: supposed to aid recovery. I tried it and noticed no benefits. I've still got some somewhere around here. There are studies (I don't have them so don't ask) proving that it does not do that. Scott says save your money. Some people swear by the stuff though. Who knows....
