Default Going through a tough time. Could use some support

First a little background...I'm 23, mother passed away when I was 18 after being in a coma for 6 years and I have 3 little sisters. Our grandmother has primarily raised us since her being in a coma. Ive been living on my own since 18 however. Well last Monday my grandmother was rushed to the hospital bc of an anerysm. She had a surgery to try and stop the bleeding. She is still in critical care and not very responsive and doctors say if everything goes well we can expect her to be there for a month or longer. Nothing is really for sure right now just kind of day to day. My sisters are now living with me.

I guess this is more of a vent then anything else and this may be the wrong place to post. I just need to get it all out. Now as far as my weight loss goes in all this I'm pretty sure I've gained like 10pounds this past week. I'm too afraid to step on the scale. I feel like I'm trying to make everyone feel better so I'm like " let's makes some cookies" etc. I need to get it under control and stop trying to use food as a way to feel better.

Thanks for reading guys

First, sending you cyber hugs because you really deserve them. You are doing a wonderful thing taking care of your younger sisters. This is HUGE for a girl your age.
My best advice is to give the scale and diet a little break. You have so much more on your plate than worrying about the scale. Pay attention to what your eating. Try to cut out the cookies but be sure to take care of yourself.
Wishing all the best for your grandma!

to you! You are going through SO MUCH. I would also suggest that you not worry about weight loss but maybe just try to not eat food for comfort. I have used it for comfort and all it does is make things worse. I think you're amazing to have become the source of support and comfort for your 3 sisters. Get through this time and stay strong for you and your sisters.

Aw, Sweetie, I wish I could hug you in person and help out. My advice is the same as NEMon's - just relax with the worry about the diet but be mindful of what you eat. You have to be gentle with yourself as you go through this.

I wish I was closer to CA so I could hug you in person. Hang in there.

I am so sorry to hear of this, and am sending you my warmest thoughts.

Sometimes making a big pot of soup or chili can be handy for stressful times...it is quick and warming, and you can put lots of vegetables (frozen ones often work just fine for soup). It can also save a lot of time cooking and doing dishes when you'd rather be spending time with family. I've often done this during times of family health crises.

Keeping you in prayer.

Sometimes life is so cruel. When your down it is easy to turn to food for comfort. What I do when I find myself in situations like this, I always weigh myself daly, so I can see what damage i have done to myself. I have been buying a peice of clothes that is a size smaller since I started my weigh lost journey. Just something that I want to look and feel good in, something that I want to work towards. Looking at the dress and trying it on helps to keep me going.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your so brave for taking care of your 3 sisters, let that courage guide you in your weight loss journey as well.

CurvyCurly so sorry to here about your Grandma sending prayers for you and your family.
Just remember to be kind to yourself and know that what ever comes your way you will be able to handle.
It sounds like you have dealt with a lot of hardships in your life before and you came through it.
Take one day at a time and try not to think about the worst scenario.
I'm in healthcare and a know how hard it is on the family when a love one is sick.
The hospital has Social Workers and or Chaplains if you need some support don't be afraid to find what services might be available for your family.
I'm sure your Grandma would be proud how you stepped up to help with your siblings.
Prayers and positive thoughts, Roo2:

Hugs!!!
I am so sorry for the loss of your mom and your grandmother being so sick. That is a huge thing to deal with! When my husbands father passed away we took in his three little sisters along with the two kids we have already.. it was pretty hard. We only took care of them for about 4 months but I totally know what you mean about using food to help... I hope things start to look up for you! That says a great deal about the person that you are taking in your little sisters.

My heart goes out to you. Just hang in there and know that things will get better. Just face each day as it comes and don't get caught up in imagining the worst. I second the idea of making a big pot of chili or soup. Healthy, inexpensive and a nuturing thing to do for your sisters.

As Roo said, your grandmother's hospital probably has support people (social workers) that might be able to point you toward resources for help. Also, reach out to your sisters' school/s to make sure they understand what is going on and the school may also be able to provide them with some additional support and help.

Make some time to take care of yourself even if it's just a few minutes to unwind in a hot bath.

THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE!
You have all been so kind and your words mean a lot. I'm sorry it's taken so long to get back on here.
My grandmother passed away this past Friday. It's been a pretty tough time. But again thank you all so much!

This is way late, but my prayers go out to you in this difficult time.
You will get back around to focusing on your own health concerns when the time is right. Focus on the things that need the most attention, right now.
