Thumbs down Thinking of moving to South Beach!!

HI, i'm brand new to site and the forum. I have been surfing and looking for a diet plan. I have weighed the same NO MATTER what I do for the last two years. I have been doing Atkins off and on for about three yrs. Lost 35 lbs BANGO the first time I did it and now I can't stick with it to save my life BUT I feel so good when I do low ccarb. I found the South Beach thumbing thru Prevention at the grovefy check out (bad me...and I didn't buy it!
But I came home and surfed and found it on the website and printed it out. It looks good and I was excited to read all the posts from people doing it so well. I'm going to B&N and get the book tomorrow and will stargt Monday. I have a rule it seems I can never start a diet on any day but Monday LOL. Keep me posted on how you are doing I will need all the help and support I can get. I have around 120 lbs to lose But would be thrilled to lose 100 and happy to lose 80...............Hope to see more good news from everyone. I'll need all the buddies and help I can get.OH man I can wear my new thong on South Beach.......Sheila

Hi Sheila, I see you live in Ripon, CA. I used to live in Stockton, CA. until we moved here to Georga about 10 years ago.

I am on my 2nd week of the South Beach Diet and when I weighed last Monday (like you I can't seem to start a diet on any day but Monday), I had lost 5 lbs and didn't feel hungry or have the headaces some of the gals talk about. This week I did add some nuts as a snack and skipped some of the string cheese. I have tried quite a few diets, but never the Atkins or Sugar Busters, in fact, this is my first low-carb diet as I was afraid I couldn't face the day without something sweet--my downfall. I did pretty well for a while on Weight Watchers, but after about a month, didn't seem to count my points as closely as I should have and was still eating lots of carbs.

Let me know how you do on your SB. There seems to be quite a few people starting it.

Good Luck,
Caci

I've only been on it a few days (I actually started last Friday, I believe) after reading about it here. I usually follow Atkins but lately it hasn't been working for me. I'm thinking that the lower fat of the South Beach diet might be better for me. I've already lost 5 lb. I'm not going to jump up and down about it until another week goes by but I'm encouraged.

Ive noticed that choosing the lower fat side of my choices has made a huge difference in the weight Ive lost. If I keep my protein intake up, Im not hungry at all.

How new is this diet? Will I be able to get the book at the library? Just for curiousity sake What Im doing now is working, I dont want to mess with it.

Hi thanks for responses look forward to the companionship as we go on this journey. I will grocery shop this weekend and start Monday. I'll be watching and checking to see how everyone is doing. Hey, Cacikat, I work in Stockton. I'm from Kentucky but my husband was born and raised in Tracy, CA so we are back out here after living in Kentucky and Florida.
GOOD LUCK and GOOD LOSING to everyone

SHeila, I don't know if you're aware but there's a thread here in Low Carb devoted to the South Beach Diet. Lots of support and encouragement there.

Sheila, it's the thread right under this one...well, in the same vicinity. It's title is South Beach Diet. Can't miss it.

Hi Shelia, Aren't you lucky. Since you are not going to start your diet until after Easter, you can pig out on all the great fruits around and even have a piece of chocolate bunny rabbit.
I was born and raised and lived most of my adult life in Stockton, but my husband was raised in this very very small town in Georgia (1,500 people) and always wanted to move back, but I am still suffering culture shock. If you weren't born here, you are always consided and "outsider" no matter how long you have been here. I still have relatives and friends in Stockton and hope to go back for a visit this summer, although I understand it has really changed since I left about 9 years ago.
I will be ending my second week on SBD and weighed about the 1st week and lost 5 lbs, and just hope I do as well this 2nd week. I think the hardest part is trying to get all the water done.
Keep me informed on how you are doing.
Caci
