Question Has Anyone Else Been Through This?

I posted a thread awhile back regarding doing the WW program while breastfeeding. I have been having ok results up until now, and am feeling a little confused and stressed right now.
I am the proud mother of a 4 month old baby girl who is strictly breastfed.
I started WW again in Nov, and have lost 21 lbs. Things were going well until this week, when I stayed totally OP, exercised, drank tons of water, and gained .4lb. I know this shouldn't be a big deal, but I did the program 2.5 yrs ago and lost 65lbs without one gain.
A girl from the meeting suggested I take my normal pts range and add 2pts for every feeding my baby has during the day, as opposed to the ten pt higher range recommended by the book.
Has anyone else here been through this? I would really appreciate any help you can give me!

Tara: I have never had a baby, but I do know weight can fluctuate for other reasons. Maybe you ate something with a lot of sodium the night before. Maybe it was hormonal. I gained 2lbs in one week for no reason once, it happens. Personally I'd sy keep eating the way you're eating for the next week. If there is a general weight-gaining trend, then maybe follow their suggestion, but Breastfeeding does require extra calories, so I'd say you still may want to stay within the breastfeeding points range.

Hope this helps and good luck, what you had was probably just a blip!

Take Care!

Been there, done that and will be doing it again in 3 months. I was on the nursing plan in 2001 after my baby was born and did horrid. I only managed to lose maybe 15 pounds in 4 months. I was up, down and all around. I think I was eating too many points. But also, I was told that not everyone loses weight in flash while nursing. That just isn't a totally true statement anymore. Everyone's body is different. You have to find what works best for you. I do know that even tho people drop weight fast while nursing, it is NOT healthy for the baby, even if you are overweight. So just do what is comfortable for you and enjoy this time with your baby. Your girl will grow up very quickly and you will miss this time you have with her now!!

Ali & Jen,
Thanks for the advice. I do realize that there will be ups and downs, and that it is safer/healthier to lose weight slowlly...it was just a big shock to have a gain when I wasn't expecting it!
I am relieved to hear that I am not the only one who isn't losing preg weight easily, Jen! I actually started to gain weight about 6 weeks after dd was born, that was my motivator to get back to WW!
How is your pregnancy going? Are you getting to the stage where it is more difficult to get around yet?
Thanks again for the advice, I am trying to be a little more cheerful today!
Thanks!

Saskiemom-Don't worry! It is normal after losing a certain amount of weight for your body to try to hold onto some if you are breastfeeding-a biological response to make sure you have enough reserves-a lot of the time women will lose 5-10 pounds immediately after stopping breastfeeding!

I gained weight after having my first and that hit me hard too. I joined WW 2 months after having her. Lost 4 pounds the first week, gained 3 then next week. WOW that hurt. It was up and down like that all while nursing. I normally am a slow loser, but after having a baby, I am not a slow yo-yo loser!!

My PG is going good. No major problems. I am getting big tho. They say you get bigger with each child and that is so true. Haven't gained more than I did with #1 (At least not yet!!!) but my belly is bigger. I told my doc I liked having a small child (1st was 6 pounds 7 ounces!!). My hubby yelled at me last week because I nailed him with my belly. He told me to watch where a swing that thing!

Oh well!

Default Trying to Relax...

It makes me feel better to know that this is to be expected and may continue to happen. It also makes me glad I ordered my bridesmaid dress (for May) in the size I wear right now, rather than assuming I could lose the weight by then!
Thanks for sharing...I would love to hear more about everyone else's experiences!

Just wanted to add, I am trying to relax about the weight loss. I am still going to stick to the program, but I will try not to expect a loss every week. Hopefully this will keep me from future disappointment!
