Thumbs up Met side-effects derailing my workouts!

I am so frustrated right now! For about the millionth time I am trying to get up to my full dosage on Metformin. I am so nauseous and tired at the time of the day, though (around 5) that I then have a hard time going to my Jazzersice class (even if I was rearing to go just an hour ago!)

Does anyone else have this problem? Is it worth it? Shoudl I make myself go, or just rest?

GRRRR!

See about switching to GlucophageXR. Side effects are much less and you can take your pills at night before bed.

HI Grasshoppergirl
Switching to Gluc XR has, I believe, the maximum benefit in attempting to try to get a handle on some of the "wonderful" side-effects that metformin inflicts on us.
But, if u are like some of us, and ur insurance company won't yet cover gluc XR, then if u are on the generic metformin, try switiching to plain Glucophage.
I am one of the "lucky" ones who cannot get Gluc XR unless I pay out of pocket, so I switched from Metformin to plain Gluc, it has helped tremendously. Some will argue that there is no difference between generic and brand name drugs, and that may be so, in some cases. In my case, however, I only know that my body is telling me that I can't seem to tolerate metformin at the dosage I need to be on (1500mg) The best I could do was 1000mg and even that caused me severe digestive upset from almost the first day I began taking it . Now that I am on Gluc I am up to 1000mg (working my way up to 1500) and have had zero side effects.
Just a thought and hope it helps u out.
Pam
PS...diet has a big impact on me and on the way the meds react as well. I have found I just cannot tolerate a moderate to high fat intake when I am on metformin or Glucophage and smaller more frequent meals sit better with me as well.... Good luck
