Talking Back to low carbing, hi new to forum! :)

Hello, I've been 'lurking' on this board for the past week or so. I've decided to go back on Atkin's diet come Dec. 28 (waiting for the holidays to end). So I've been getting all my carb fill while I can!

I was on Atkin's prior, lost about 20 lbs then got off for some reason. So I'm back again, I want to lose about 100 lbs, so I've a long way to go. I plan to stay on Induction for a while.

So alas, I'll probably drop by this board a lot, I really like to see what people eat each day, it's very helpful to read.

Anyway, a little about me, I'm 25 years old, I live in Michigan (originally from Chicagoland) I moved to Michigan about a year ago for a job in reporting (newspaper). So I'm looking to move back home to Chicagoland whenever the job market wakes up. I'm mainly a graphic designer/paginator/photographer/reporter at the paper I currently work at. I multi-task to the max there. lol

I've been overweight all my life, and am currently at 282, which is very high for me since I'm usually around 270 ish.

I am looking to lose about 100 lbs. but I'll see how it goes.

So off I go onto Induction, I have a question, however, about teas. I have a box of fruit tea bags. I don't think there is sugar added, and they are the only teas I like. Will these knock me out of ketones? Or hinder me? I'd hate to give up my fruit teas. I hate regular teas.

Oh well, please keep posting what ya'll eat each day, it's so very very helpful! Any good websites/tips you have, please pass along.

Thanks!

Jen

Welcome Jen!

As for the tea, I'm not sure. I have never done Atkins, only CALP (Carbohydrate Addicts Lifespan Program) similar, but not the same. Do the teas have caffeine? I think that's a no no on induction. But again, not sure. I'm sure an Atkins person will be along shortly to answer your questions.

Welcome to the group, join us on the daily, where we share our lives. Our day to day stuff, our joys our sorrows.......just anything, and we even throw in a little low-carb talk every so often.

Glad you joined us

Default Welcome Jen!

If the teas don't have any added sugar you should be fine. They are like herbal teas, right? I had a lot of herbal tea on induction and did fine with them. I myself will be getting back on induction after 1/1 and I know I'll be drinking herbal tea. I usually have a slice of lemon in the tea b/c my dr. said it helps to prevent kidney stones.

Yep herbal tea, I usually drink one or two cups at work when I have a pop craving. I use a packet of sweet-n-lo, but I think Atkins says NO to that kind of sweetner since it's asparamet (can't spell that!) but I cannot stand Splenda, it leaves an oil slick in my mouth...ew. I might just stick with the sweetnlow.

Thanks!

Welcome Jen! I've found that I can tolerate some things that aren't "legal" on induction and still lose weight. Aspartame (I looked on the back of my diet Dew can for the spelling) is one of the things that doesn't seem to bother me as long as I keep it within reason. As long as you're losing, keep drinking your teas.
