Still OP with my carbs, haven't exercised due to coughing still. I got a major amount of sleep today that I so desperately needed.
Now I'm playing doctor for my son and husband as they are coming down with this crud now.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Happy April Fools Day!

Hi ladies, sounds like everyone's feeling committed.

Hang in there, Walrus. You're right--stasis is better than moving backwards.

Carol, I'm with you, I think exercise is as important for me as what I eat, though I don't know how much it's really helping me lose, but it's helping me feel a lot better, which helps me eat right. I've been working on doing something in the way of light aerobics every day (walking or various DVDs), yoga something like 3-4 days a week (though if I could find time I'd be doing that every day) and some strength training every other day. What are your exercises of choice?

DH is being crabby... think I'd better get offline and try to cheer him up...

Have a great remainder of your weekend, ladies. Stay OP!

Angela

Angela - I'm trying to do an hour in the water 5 days a week - probably only going to make it 3 this week with another hour of strength/cardio thrown in somewhere along the way.

Ruth - I found the Ezekiel bread but couldn't figure out which type to buy - is there a lower carb option? I happened upon the Walden Farms zero calorie salad dressing while perusing the health food section - on sale even - looking forward to trying them.

Debbie - how were the babies today? I bet the little one is growing like a weed. Good choices today?

Heather - seems like it shouldn't be April yet - we could have gone on with March for awhile - thanks for starting the thread.

Learn - has the weather settled down? You are doing great with your new way of eating - gotta feel energized.

Why does buying a car have to be so stressful! It's over and done and in the garage but watching DH reminded me of my dad when he would walk out just to have the sales staff follow him outside begging him. So glad we don't do it very often!

I bought an extra turkey during the holidays when they were "cheap" - going to bake it tomorrow to share with my parents and provide me some lunch without all the sodium.

Stay strong!

Morning All!
Wow, quiet here yesterday, huh?

dgramie- How are those grandbabies? I'll bet they just love it when grandma comes to visit.

Angela- I'm another one that agrees with exercise being such an important part of weight loss. One can't expect the weight to come off continuously just from dieting alone. You gotta move!

Carol- All's calm and clear down here in FLA. Oh boy a new car, what did you end up getting?

Heather- Hope your having a great weekend.

I was OP yesterday and actually got some walking in without coughing too much. The coughing episodes are getting farther apart and aren't as wet and congested sounding as they were. Gonna be OP today and gonna get another walk in also.

I hope everyone has a great sunday.

Learn - we ended up with a two door Honda Accord - bright red! We have always had white cars - quite the change but it's so nice. Eight miles on it!

Great day today! Laundry done (not put away yet), house clean, groceries in and menu planned for the week, turkey in the oven smelling oh so good! I've made some notes for my "speech" tomorrow night at the women's fit group - I've solicited some input from those closest to me - it seems like when they tell me what they see and the changes they are talking about someone else - my self image still says 350.

I also made it to the pool for an hour today - my knee isn't cooperating much so water is my exercise of choice right now - 4 mile charity run in two weeks - gotta do it!

Stay strong!

Hi ladies.

I posted a few times here about 2 months ago, then disappeared off the face of the earth. not sure why but life got in the way I guess. I'm making an effort to get back here, really get to know everyone and give support where i can.

I've lost I believe about 15 lbs since I was here in late Feb. At that time I'd just started walking on my treadmill but ended up with some knee pain and quit, which probably wasnt my best move but I plan to get back on again this week.

My self made diet plan is pretty since, low fat (30 grams or less a day) and watching my portions, plus keeping an eye on my carb intake (although I don't technically count them). I lost 96 lbs in 10 months doing this and walking on the treadmill in 2004 but sadly gained it all back almost immediately. This time around the goal is to lose and keep it off. lol.

I look forward to getting acquainted and watching everyone's progress.

Nothing special here today. Didn't get enough work done. Did exercise a little.

I started counting fiber last week. My gosh, I was getting very little fiber.

Next week I'm going to add a couple of exercises to my strength training workout, keep counting fiber, and pay a little more attention to hydration.

I sure hope I can report a loss tomorrow.

Learn, Good to hear you're feeling better.

Carol, a 4 mile run? Good for you!

Ingrid, Good to see you back.

Well, I really should do a bit more work before bed... so here's to a new week.

Happy Monday!

Carol- We've always been a white car family also. I'm so proud of you entering the charity run. I know you'll do just fine. Let us know how the speech goes today, O.K.?

Ingrid- Glad to see you back and I look forward to getting to know you better.

Angela- Fiber can be an issue for me also. Are you adding anything special to your diet to get more fiber?

Heather and dgramie- Hope your sunday was a good one.

I had an OP day yesterday and got my walk in also. Spent most of the day relaxing and allowing my husband to rest. Got a few errands to run today, otherwise not much on the agenda. Gonna get my walk in after I drop my son off at school.

I will be OP today and I know you all will be the same. Happy Monday Everyone!

Default It's been nearly a year since I last posted

Hey girls! So happy to see many familiar names here. I've been a busy girl this last year, and the road was quite bumpy. I stayed on track with food and exercise, and have seen some forward progress. I let some good practices fall, so I need to get back on track in some areas. I also think I'm ready to step up my game!

What I'm doing now...
  • Exercise: Pilates four times a week
  • Caloric intake: Shooting for 1650 calories, with a 200 calorie cushion
  • Lifestyle choices: No alcohol until I'm under 275 lbs, no fast food, going out for meals cut back to once a month, have removed processed foods from my house, have removed all soy from my diet, keeping carbohydrates under 120 g/day, 12 glasses water/day, 30 g fiber daily, eight hours of sleep every night, getting a massage every month
How I plan to step up my game...
  • Exercise: Pilates five times a week, plus upper body weight training and cardio three times a week
  • Caloric intake: 1600 calorie limit
  • Additional lifestyle choices: Limit sodium to 2400 mg/day, limit saturated (animal) fats to 20 g/day, consistently taking daily nutritional supplements, eating smaller meals but eating more often, getting a body scrub every month
My personal trainer is going to start me on power walking this week. I've lost only a little weight over the last year, and that has only been in the last month. I know I've become complacent with some exercise and quite lax with eating choices. I am reminding myself that my big goal is to feel great, and I'm not there yet. And the next goal is to lose the next 10% of my total body weight. And third...to get my head ready to date again. I think. Not sure about that last one. Actually, I just want to be very sure about who I am and never let that go again, and then I won't be afraid to date at all. How's that for a goal?

I was just reading about a 10k power walk in the south of Wales. It happens in October. I may not be ready to go this year, but I certainly can train for it and go next year. That's a goal I'd really love to achieve.

Okay, looking forward to chatting with you all soon!

Good to see some old faces poking back in!

My inlaws were visiting over the weekend, and we had a nice visit, but a lot of food. I had a bad Saturday, but think I recovered yesterday. Just one day at a time...

Great to see Ingrid and Geo back - we've missed you!

Stay strong!

I had a great weekend but not a good food weekend. We ate out every meal all weekend long. My scales are up big time. Going to the grocery in a bit and stock up on salad stuff and maybe a turkey as well(carol that sounds sooooooooo good).

Carol- you will do amazing tonight!! We are so PROUD of YOU!!!

We had super strong winds yesterday and overnight. We have a strange sound now when we have really high winds. ITS like the window in my daughters room is vibrating. We have new replacement windows so are not sure why we have this strange roar. Cant locate if air is coming in around the window frame or what. Its annoying!!
My goal for the week is declutter a bit. Its also about time to bring up summer clothing and mine are not going to fit right...depressing. Just praying it will motivate me to get moving again.
Gotta get hubby back on track with his food also he has labs in a little over a month.
hugs to all and lets make it a GREAT week!!
