Default First meeting

Hi everyone,

I'm attending my first meeting on Saturday and I have a few questions before I attend. First, I live in Canada (if that makes a difference), what is included in the Week 1 program material? Is there new material every week? Or is that Week 1 material sufficient to follow the program? As well, can I pay the registration fee, and just one meeting?

I know I will get these answers on Saturday, but I'm eager to know to be prepared.

TIA
Bonnie

in the week 1 meeting go in a bit early because you'll need to fill out a sheet of paper about yourself and then pay your registration fee (if applicable) and first weeks fee and yes you can just pay week by week if you like, or some offer deals like the more weeks you buy ahead of time the bigger the discount, or monthly passes etc, you can ask them about it there because as I've found with my own meetings, they are all different in that aspect.
As far as material, you will get the Getting Started booklet which is FULL of good info and one other book as well, then you'll weigh in and stay for the meeting, after the meeting the leader will go over one on one with you the program and all that it entails.. when you wi they will give you your daily pts target so you definitely will leave that meeting with all the info you need, oh and don't forget to buy a calculator while there and if you want the food guide and dining out book they will be sold there too along with other ww products. Hope that helps! and welcome!! I have done ww in the past without meetings and was successful but this time I decided to join the meetings and I LOVE them! you just get so much info and support there, it's a great decison for sure Let us know how it goes!

I love my meetings, it's the whole reason I joined. I think sometimes we all need the reminders we get at the meeting, and the camaraderie is pretty cool. Everyone there has the same goal, and many have similar weight loss stories and goals.

I would buy the getting started kit in addition to the calculator. Right now it's on sale. The calculator is like 5 bucks and the kit is 15... it includes a three month journal, dining out guide and food guide. Nice to have, and they will be 10 bucks each once december is over.

Gottadoit1,

I'm in Canada too and we had our first meeting this week with the new points plus. So far I am really liking it. At you first meeting you will be given all the booklets and info you'll need. I would recommend the points calculator (which is $10) right now. The member's starter kit is also available and I think in Canada anyways - it is $30 - comes with a 3 month journal, calculator, dining out guide and more expansive points book along with a carrying case - so it's a good deal too.

You should give the meetings a try - they are a great support and I know for me - it really helps to be accountable - if I have to show up to get on the scale every week - it helps me to stay on plan (well most of the time anyway!). In Canada we have a monthly pass option which is about $55 per month and with that you get free access to all the e-tools on the website etc. - which is also great as there are lots of recipies etc.

anyways good luck!

I joined online (I don't live in Canada (but my boyfriend does!) but I would rather go to the meetings. Can I now get a monthly pass or what do I need to do to not lose a lot of money?

I'm not sure about the prices in Canada, but I do the monthly pass, and it comes with unlimited monthly meetings, and access to eTools online, which is great. Here in the states it is 39.95 USD.

I'm sorry, I think my post was confusing (I just through that in there about Canada), I live here in Texas and I joined online. How do I get a monthly pass? Do I go to the meeting to purchase it or do I have to cancel online subscription and then buy a monthly pass? I am confused I guess.

I went to my online membership and found out how to get my monthly pass (should have looked first before asking here) but it was simple and easy. I like that I can go to meetings and still use the e-tools!

I also just found out about the new program here in Canada. I was looking into that package for $30, but I was told that the calculator didn't come with the package. I felt that price was a bit steep because I had to buy the calculator extra. I do think the package is great to have, and I may purchase it next week.
