Su, I wasn't able to find ANY of the recipes I had for meatloaf and flaxseed. If you decide to improvise, I do remember that the directions said to not go too heavy, or it might get slimy. I assume this is with flaxseed meal that they are talking about. Anyway, here are some recipes that I did have. Also found something that mentioned buying Atkin's white bread and crumbling it up and using like regular bread. Hope these help! Will also post them in the recipe section.

Editing here...the post was SO long, I am taking off the recipes and putting them only in the Low Carb recipes under entrees. Since this is a week long thread, don't wanna weight it down!

Since I'm here, I'll say hi now instead of later

Aleka- That black leather blazer sounds awesome! I'd love to find a great one sometime. A friend just did your thing with the sales and now has the pants to go with the blazer. Very cool!

Nikki I'm glad everyone is safe. I haven't tried the mushrooms in the chili. I eat mushrooms in everything else, I'll have to do that!

Anne- Atlanta had the same problem with leaves in the sewer. One of my friends was washed out, her company car was flooded. A couple of people were endangered, as were a number of pets. It was scarey for a bit. I'm glad you are all safe.

Jennifer, I'm so sorry your state was hit so hard. It is hard to imagine how quickly all this occured. A few years ago, I knew people who were hit in both Georgia and in Florida. It was extremely frightening!

Mauvaisroux- I ended up with very red hair by accident this weekend... Can I be one of the red- heads for a bit Several people have told me how much they like it, but I'm afraid I'll never be able to duplicate it... a bit like an accident in a chemical factory !! I have trouble with Christmas for the folks too. ... Maybe I can do in their microwave

Take care everyone! Su

Hi everyone,
Su, do you usually bleach your hair? I have since I was 16. My hair has gotten thin and finer every year since. But since I started this woe and taking supplements, it's never been better. My youngest DD hadn't seen me for almost a month and when she did, she just went on and on about how good my hair looks. She would notice, she bleachs hers too.

I want to buy some new clothes, but I've resisted. I have a closet full of the wrong size now and I'm hoping I'll lose some more weight and get down a lot smaller. It is just so hard to not buy them when I love to. I have no idea what size I am anymore. My abdomin has always been where I gain the most weight. If I get pants to fit there, the legs and seat are hugh and the crotch is around my knees. I wonder if I'll ever get into regular clothes. I suppose I'll just keep on low carbing through the holidays. I'll fix regular food for everybody else and food for me too. I'm fixing a cheesecake with chocolate sauce from Suzanne on top in a swirl design for dessert. Nobody likes pumpkin except for me anyway.

Aleka, did they find all those people? It is just so sad what has happened. It sure seems like the wrong time of the year for this, youd think we were safe now from tornado's.

Hi Anne and Mauvaisroux I read your posts last night, but I can't remember what you said. I'll have to reread them. My memory is shot or I was just tired, it was around 3am, I couldn't sleep.

Jennifer, I'm glad you started the new thread.

Bye for now, Nikki

Angry Good afternoon,

We got rain out of that mess, and it's another dreary day and rather raw out. When I got back from WW, DH was outside mowing the lawn and downed leaves. We were out raking for awhile and that job is done. I was able to get my exercises in today.

My weigh in wasn't all that good. I only lost 2/10ths of a lb. I guess it's back to s/f jello instead of the f/f -s/f ice cream I've been eating.

Jennifer, Those tornados were horrible. I am so glad that they missed you. Have they found those missing people yet?

mauvisroux, it was good hearing from you. Don't you feel good when you're able to get something your parents will use? I have had the sausage/mushroom stuffing from EGLW book. It is awesome, and I don't care for mushrooms. Your open house on Christmas Eve sounds like a lot of fun.

ANNE, it sounds like you had some wild weather yourself. We were very fortunate here. I don't know what we'll be doing for Christmas. Both of my parents are gone, my IL's will be in sunny FL. most of our relatives live out of state, and will spend the day with their own families, so we'll probably spend a nice quiet holiday.

nikkic, go out and buy some new clothes...you deserve it. Get the same thing in a bunch of sizes, then try them on to see which fits. Take a GF with you so that she can do all the running around looking for sizes I can relate to the pants thing, but I find if I get elastic waist pants, I can fit into a smaller size and they fit my legs really well. I also carry most of my weight in my belly....just like my late mother.

Su, sometimes accidents turn out great. I usually get my hair highlighted every 5-6 months. One time it came out sooooo blonde that the stylist was a bit shocked. But...I got so many compliments when my hair was that blonde. The next time I saw her I told her about the compliments and told her to remember that formula.

I hope you all have a good afternoon.

Good Morning All:
Finally finished cleaning up our basement. We will have to throw
out a couple of rugs but if thats all I have to complain about I am
blessed.
Jennifer, any word on the missing folks? We have been keeping
them in our prayers.
Our weather is doing the see saw thing again, warmish one day
cold as heck the next.
Nikkic, do you eat nuts on your diet? I am thinking of modifiying
my program to something more like protein power or aitkens.

Somersizing got me off to a great start but I am getting the
itch to expand my horizens, but hopefully not my waistline

Anne.

Good morning,
Hope everyone is doing well. I am feeling so much better today. Back to where I was when I was last injured.

Jennifer, I was mixed up, thought it was Aleka that wrote about those people missing. How did that turn out?

Aleka, most of my pants are stretch pants. DH would through a fit if I bought anymore clothes right now. I have half a closet full of clothes I've never even put on yet. I keep saving them for good and I'm afraid when the good time comes, they will all be too big. I don't wear them for everyday though, because no one would see them but DH and the cat. And neither one would be too impressed. Especially the cat.

Anne, I just kind of combined the parts of Atkins and Somersizing that I liked. I do eat nuts, because I think they are healthy for you. I don't eat a lot. I use a little ramikin that I bought for creme brulee and put them in that. It looks like more than it is. Just a few tbsp. a day and not eveyday. Last night I ate some peas with my chicken breast and felt pretty naughty about it. Even put a little butter on my peas. But normally, I still food combine.

I bought the Smart Technique set of tapes for my daughter originally. But I figured I would use them too. Last night I used the first tape and I was simply stunned! It is a hypnotic experience. I had the cd player set to replay and the first time I listened, I thought well this is relaxing, but I must not be receptive to hypnosis. Then it started the second time automatically and I remember the first few sentences and bang, I was out. I remember the announcer waking me up at the end and then it restarted again and I went out again. After the 3rd time of waking up, I turned it off. They implant suggestions while your under like-you will notice what your eating, you will eat good food following your food plan, you will make healthy choices, etc.
I haven't slept so good in months or maybe even years.

Hi, Su and Mauvaisroux.

Talk to you all later, Nikki

Angry Good afternoon,

After all that raking yesterday I was surprised that I was able to move this morning. My back, shoulders and arms are a tad bit stiff when I move certain ways. So, I thought I would give my muscles a rest today and not do my workout. Tomorrow for sure.

nikki, glad that you're feeling better, I hope you're giving your ankle a proper rest. I have heard of the Smart Technique, I saw it on an infomercial. Let us know how it works for your D. Maybe they should start selling those tapes as a sleep aid instead of using sleeping pills

ANNE, I also started eating nuts because they are so good for you. I usually eat roasted soy nuts, and you can have around 1/3 cup of them. I don't eat them all the time, just occasionally. I also started eating winter squash again, because I love it. I missed it on SSzing. Again, I only eat it occasionally, maybe a couple times a month.

Hi Su, mauvisroux, & Jennifer

Aleka, you were talking about squash. I only eat acorn squash maybe 2 times a year, in the fall of course and winter. I haven't yet, because it's high in sugar. Then when you wrote that, I suddenly realized, why not? It's not like potato chips, it's only a few times a year, for crying out loud. I'm going to get some soon and quit depriving myself. It's not like it's all the time and it is a yellow vegetable, high in vitamin a.

Good evening, ladies!

No word yet on the missing people. I guess it is another Tennessee story that disappeared. That seems to happen quite a bit! Did you all hear about the 16 year old girl and her 17 year old husband that were killed by a man and mutilated by his 70-something mother and aunt, and stashed in pieces in a storage unit about a month ago? Neither has anybody else! This happened in my town. It isn't even on the news anymore, nothing has been released as to why they think they were killed, etc. The boy's head and the girl's hand was found floating in the lake. The rest of them were found in a storage place a block from where I work. It was so sad. But it never made it to national news or CNN or anything. Oops, went off on a tangent! Soooo, I guess no news is good news as far as the missing people go.
I do need to look online some more though. I couldn't even find the town name in Google. Must be really small!

Nikki, is acorn squash high in sugar? I thought it was low glycemic. Darn, I thought there was one winter squash that was ok. I guess not! Tell me something, if sweet potatoes are ok as far as the GI goes, are sweet potato chips pushing it!?
Those tapes sound interesting. I did anxiety tapes once, and I kept falling asleep. Not hypnosis asleep, but rolling over and snoring sleep.

Aleka, I try and look for elastic waist pants also, at least in jeans. I cannot find jeans that look right on me! I can't believe so many people like Lane Bryant Jeans. I think I am pretty standard on how I carry my weight as an overweight woman. I am bigger in my stomach and don't have much of a waist. I have normal legs, I guess, to be overweight, that is. I don't understand 'relaxed thigh' pants. They make me look like Ronald McDonald! I can fit double my thighs in those pants if I can get them big enough to go around my waist. They need bigger waists and smaller thighs, and market them as a different name than the relaxed or classic fits. Maybe something like Gut Huggers. Think it would sell?

Has anybody seen the evil redhead??????

Ok, back to the kitchen...we are done painting, except for one or two doors that might need a touchup. I am putting groceries back in the cabinets, and in the morning we will screw the doors back in and their handles. Whew. Never again.

Hi,
I'm up late, because I was watching a jewelry show on QVC and well, I'm shopping. I am addicted to shopping. One more thing to get rid of.

Jennifer, I know what you mean about the news. We live in a small town and we've noticed in Iowa, if it doesn't happen in Des Moines, it hasn't happened at all. At least as far as the news goes. I hadn't heard about that poor couple. That's just aweful.

Acorn squash has 21.8 carbs in 1/2 cup. Which on Atkins induction is more than you should have in a day. I guess it is kind a high. I eat the whole sqash too, since DH won't touch it and I hate to see it go to waste. I know, I could save it, but I never have. Maybe this time I will.

I have those pants, Jennifer. That is what is in my entire closet. I just hate them. If I want my crotch in the right place, I have to pull them up til their under my bra. It's the way I wear them when I'm working out. Boy, I'm a beauty then. I can't imagine joining a health club.

Guess I'll go put in a tape and zone out. Big day tomorrow. I go see the plastic surgeon for my interview about getting my boobs bobbed. Talk to you all later, Nikki

Angry Good morning,

Jnnifer, OMG, those poor kids. I hope they caught those people and put them away for good! When we moved to NH about 28 yrs. ago, and about 20 of those yrs., give or take a few, if it didn't happen in NH it wasn't reported on the news. Now, our only TV station in the state is owned by people who own a TV station in Boston, so now we get news all over. I'd buy those pants in a NY minute!!! The way you describe yourself, you & I are built alike. My weight is all in my belly, not much of a waist, with some of the padding on my hips and rear, but not that much. My legs & arms are relatively thin for an overweight person. AND I can relate to the Ronald McDonald pants The worst part is when I do lose weight, I lose the weight in my legs and arms first!

nikki, whenever I eat squash, I only have 1/2 cup, even though WW serving is 1 cup, and I split that into 2 or 3 meals, depending on how much I cook. Good luck with the plastic surgeon today. What did you buy on QVC?

Hi mauvaisroux, Su, & ANNE

Have a good day everyone!

Good Morning Ladies!
I have been doing my homework. I have been reading Protein
Power Plan and Atkins too.
My carb totals have far exceeded what I am suppose to be
eating according to those two sources.
I have been eating 1/2 cup all bran with skim milk while somersizing. HOLY COW!!!! The total carb in that breakfast
is approx 37!!!!!!
This morning I had a cheese omelet. Lets see how it goes. I am
going to enjoy the change in my woe. Lets see in a month if
my weight budges.
Jennifer, what an awful story. It reminds me of Paul Bernardo
and Karla Homoka here in Ontario. The USA called them the
Ken and Barbie killers.
Aleka and Nikkic, alot of my excess is my gut area. Between being
fat and having 4 pregnancy's including a twin pregnancy it
ain't a pretty site!!!!
Anne.

Good morning everyone,
I just loved the plastic surgeon. The one I was suppose to see was gone for some reason, so I saw his partner. She is great! She says she studied in France for a year doing nothing but breast reductions. She's also really funny. When I asked her how long it would be before I could wash dishes or cook, with a completely serious expression, she looked at my DH and said "At least 6 months. You have to have time to heal." He had this horrified look on his face and said,"Well, I took care of her longer than that when she first broke her ankle." The Dr. couldn't keep a straight face any longer and started to laugh so hard, she about fell off her stool. She said I could do some light stuff after a week.
DH said he was really worried when she first said that and totally believed her. Anyway, she said I was a really good candidate and that all we have to do is wait for the insurance company to either approve or refuse the claim. It will take 1-2 months. I don't know, my insurance is kind of crappy and always looking for a reason not to pay for something. They still send me letters about my ankle. They ask me when it happened, what happened, etc. Their looking for any reason they can find to bill somewhere else or sue somebody. But it's my fault and I fell down my stairs.

Anne, when I started to look at carb counts is when I realized that Somersizing is good, but it will take longer to lose weight on that plan. It's like the bread. Her bread mixes are really high carb count. I'm afraid a lot of people will think it's ok to eat all the bread they want, as long as it is with a carb meal and they follow the rules. I bet anything, it will cause a big stall with lots of people. Even if you eat only 2 slices a day, according to the count I saw on the board the other day and depending on the kind, you will have enough carbs for days and days. I'd rather eat a potato. At least then it's only eat enough carbs for one day. Not that I'm eating potato, but that's the thing, you have to make the best choice for yourself. I was reading that article Tilly posted in another thread the other day about Atkins diet and eating out. It mentioned that a lot of people start with a specific plan and then they make it their own. I'm not surpised.

Last night we ate at a wood fire grill restaurant. I had prime rib and medateranian shrimp with grilled vegetables (zucchini, yellow summer squash, snap peas, onions and a couple of slices of carrots). It was all so good. It is so easy for me to refuse the bread, soup and potato when I know I'm going to eat like that anyway. I refused the salad, cause there is no sugar free dressing and vinegar and oil is so bland.

Aleka, they had the Veronese jewelry on. It's like technibond, but so much nicer and real looking. What didn't I buy is more the question. I have a lot of real stuff, but this looks like 18 k and it's made in Italy. I bought some nice ricchio bracelets for the DD's and I for Christmas. And a couple of other bracelets for them. When they start saying sale, it's like a magnet for me and I become the biggest sucker. I've bought a few technibond things from HSN that I really like, but for the most part, they are too big. I want my stuff to look like it could be real, rather than something for the Queen of Englands crown.

Hi Su and Mauvaisroux, hope your both doing well.
Jennifer, how are you? I know your super busy and I always love reading your posts. What did you do, repaint your cabinets? It's hard isn't it?

Bye for now, Nikki
