In a pound and a half's time, I'll be exactly half way through my weightloss, and as a treat, I thought I'd get my eyebrows done.
Threading is big in stores over here, and I have a couple of questions:
Has anyone had it done and how much does it hurt?
Once your brows are done, what have you got to do to maintain them? My eyebrows are 55 years old, I've never had them done, so I don't know how to look after them. Do they look gross as they grow back in? Will I get 5 o'clock shadow on my brows?
(BTW, I Do know that the actual hairs aren't 55 years old!)
I had this done in the states last year. It twinges a bit but is not painful. I haven't had to do anything with them since. They look really good and are very low maintenance.

Hello young lady, I just had my eyebrows threaded last month, and am very satisfied. I was a weekly plucker prior, to me plucking somewhat hurts, before I went to get threaded, I popped a few aleve, just incase it hurt & to be honest I had no pain at all. My brows came out great and it felt like a bandaid being taken off at most. It took under 5 minutes for both brows and was cheap $12 plus I gave her a tip. Now that I have a pattern, just pluck the stray brows that grow back, easy peasy! I am sure you will love your new brows, threading is so the route to go IMHO to finally get the right shape and maintenance is a breeze. It helps if your threader speaks English, mine did not, I just kept saying I'm Italian, I do NOT want the "surprised look" & no thin, thin brows. She UNDERSTOOD & didnt over thread me. LOL, thank goodness! Whew, that was the only thing I was worried about!
I much prefer threading over waxing. IMO it is much less painful, but it does take a little longer to do. With waxing I felt like my skin was being yanked off (which I guess technically it was). Threading is more precise and since they don't use any chemicals my skin reacts to it way better. Tweezing definitely helps to keep it up, even though the threading ladies here told me not to do it.
Threading is great! I've been getting my eyebrows threaded since I was 13 (OH MAN, so glad I started then, mine were baaaaaaaaaaaaad). If you pluck your eyebrows, then going and getting them threaded the first time will hurt just cause your hair is thicker (I know some people don't believe this, but I've seen this on myself so that's my opinion lol). You don't have to do anything to maintain them. If your hair growth is slow, you're even luckier and will not have to go so often. I love getting them threaded cause I feel like you can shape your eyebrows better with it.

I get my eyebrows threaded now. I used to get them waxed, and I much prefer threading.
To me, it seems a bit more painful than waxing, only because waxing is faster. However the results are fantastic. Because she's not just putting wax on an ripping it off, she see's what she's doing as she does it. They come out looking great. To maintain, just look in the mirror every few days and yank out any stray hairs that grow in, or get them done every month or so. It's really easy, I love it.
It's funny b/c I keep reading everybody's post and most of you are saying it doesn't hurt. I've asked tons of people and I have only had 1 person not say "OMG, it hurts soooooooooooo bad!!!" LOL
Maybe I just know a bunch of wusses, though. *shrugs* I'm sure that if the threader knows what they're doing it wouldn't hurt nearly as much as people keep telling me, though. I've also heard that the results last longer than waxing.
I've never spoken to anyone about having their eyebrows threaded, but I know people who don't tweeze because they think it hurts terribly, whereas I can barely feel it. I've never had a bad tweezing experience. So maybe it's just different pain thresholds?
Right now, I am lucky to have good eyebrows and I just do a little tweezing in between every so often, just to clean things up. But as my eyesight is getting worse, I imagine I'll have to find someone to thread/wax them for me eventually.

I dunno, I'm not even really not a wuss about pain. I mean, I had an IUD put in without painkillers and I've never had a baby. So they were shoving my cervix to the side, and I didn't make a peep. The pain isn't terrible, but I noticed it. The first time I got it done my eyes watered a bit, but now they don't seem to. I think I'm getting used to it.
It doesn't hurt persay either, like how someone bending your arm backwards or food poisoning would hurt. It's just an annoying kind of pain.
I've had three children naturally (i.e. no drugs) and I'm one that found threading painful I even just had a brazilian done for the first time and found that to be more tolerable than eyebrow threading.
I did not find that the results lasted any longer than waxing so I'll just stick with waxing tyvm!
I get my eyebrows threaded. I've never gotten them waxed so I can't compare.
I think I have a high tolerance for pain and I found threading painful the very first time. It does get more bearable after that, IMO. My eyes do always water, though.
I don't do much as far as upkeep. I have little eyebrow razors that I might use to clean up the arch if it's really noticeable to me.
i had it done and i wanted to vomit. it hurt so much. i would much rather have the waxing where they rip it off quickly and it's done. the lady who was doing my eyebrows was laughing at me. i found no humor in it and refrained from slipping my hands around her throat i will never do it again...i will be magilla gorilla first.
