Default I never knew sugar made me feel bad!

Hi all,

I did really well this week (til yesterday that is - last day at current job and co-workers gave me a lovely lunch including that I guiltlessly partook of - and gained back the pound I'd lost this week, but hey I'm back on track now ). What was interesting is that Monday - Thursday I ate well and had no extra sweets or sugar. Friday at lunch, the only sweets I had was a large piece of the Heath Bar Cake my co-worker made - The cake was the only thing I'd had that was really "bad" - and later that afternoon - I felt strangely lethargic, a bit grumpy, and generally yucky. I'd had the feeling before but had never connected it to sugar before! I feel like such a dolt for never recognizing this before! Anyone else ever experienced such a revelation?

It was a total revelation to me back when I did low carb for the first time. I went off plan and had like 6 thin mints one day and I had a headache and my heart felt like it was racing, and I realized it was the sugar rush.

It was crazy how much a little sugar affected me physically!

That's why I stay away from sugar. If you've been off it long enough it makes you feel sick!

YES! When I was in college I'd have long days going back and froth between an internship and campus and I'd never really prepare food ahead of time. I'd usually end up going way too long without eating and then, needing energy for the last class I'd get sugar-filled coffee and some kind of cookie or muffin or something (of course not thinking at all about how much sugar I was actually consuming). I'd make it through class then be exhausted when I got home and have no energy for anything. I always blamed the constant tiredness on the busy schedule, but I never connected it to the crap I was putting into my body (besides not exercising, sleeping, etc. etc.). I am usually pretty good about laying off the refined sugar now, but if I have it, I definitely feel the sugar high-crash cycle. And I always wondered why I had no energy and was sick all the time...
