Smile The Weekend - Sept. 21 and 22

Good morning, Chickies! Starting us up.

Still pitch black out here but Lucy and I are going to walk to the Upper Lake and hope the sun comes up today. I have a few odds and ends to finish this morning and then am off to Ottawa to meet Linda's plane. I can hardly wait! Imagine how excited I will be to see LindaBC in November!

The coffee is ready so help yourself!

Morning Ladies!

Working on a Saturday is the biggest kick in the butt. I'm already running late, but wanted to stop in and say hello. Wishing all a wonderful and safe weekend.

Take care. Smile for me.

Morning Everyone.....

So far it seems to be a gray, kindacrummy-looking day here on Long Island..gee whiz, I thought the weatherman said "nice weekend" - oh well, as long as it is sunny and nice tomorrow for the Ministries' benefit miniature golf tournament......

Well, nothing special planned for today (at least not yet! - after all, the coffee is still brewing!).... I suppose I should do some "stuff" around here so that the board of health doesn't come over and shutter the place!

Ruth, I'm sure you will enjoy your visit with Linda..... btw, have you heard about a return date for Hershey?

FlyAway, sorry you have to work today, but if your weather is like ours is here, it's not necessarily such a bad thing! After all, maybe it'll be sunny on your day off! (btw... your screen name is the title of one of my all-time favorite songs, by John Denver!)

Hope all to come have a great day.......

Hello everyone! My husband and I just started this WOE last week and I really like it so far. We don't have a scale so I'm not sure how much I weigh but it's probably around 200 . I tried WW for a couple of months (again!) earlier this summer but I didn't lose any weight unless I stayed hungry. You know what I mean? My husband's and sister-in-law's doctors (two different doctors in different states) recommended they go low carb to lose weight so I finally decided to try it. I'd been resisting the urge to go low carb for many years because I listened to all the negative talk about how restrictive it is and all that but you can't beat the way it makes you feel . I love not craving food all the time.

Anyway, I'd love to lose a little weight (or a lot!) by the first weekend in November for a trip we're taking.

I'm looking forward to getting support and giving support on this website.

Welcome Fly Away and Sunshine. Sunshine where are you located in Virginia? I was born and raised in VA.

We didn't get rained on last night at the football game, thank goodness!!

Morning all.

Yes plenty of coffee being consumed in this house too! I didn't sleep well last night-alot to do today, and I guess I was getting a head start on it!

Hi Samandrosieandnewsiblingsgrandma, yes it is yucky weather here in Long island today- humid and overcast, just heavy dampness creeping in. I have a lot of running around today- was hoping for cool and dry!

Hi flyaway and Sunshine- welcome! I am a weekend mostly poster, and just want to say hi!

Have fun Ruth, watch out for that low-fat mostly vegetarian food, it'll get you every time! Sneak your meat!

This weekend I am doing the prep for my contractor to come MOnday and put in all new cabinets, and counter, sink, dishwasher. He says he can do it in 3 days, so I'll be around a bit. We're going to keep my floor, and I"ll do the walls later myself, so it's not a complete overhall just now. But I'm really excited- my old cabinets and sink were very beat up and I just couldn't paint them one more time! So cleaning out and packing up today, and setting us up a little coffee/ protein shake making station in the basement mini-kitchen to get us through. I'm making a big pot of turkey chili for nuking for dinner on Monday and TUesday nights for DH, so he doesn't have to cook in there. Can't wait to see how it comes out!

Otherwise things are same old same old. Work is annoying and always in cirisis mode lately. I am tired of it. Right now they are having a problem meeting payroll, so I am mildly more interested in the solution to that problem! We are a poor, urban hospital with a lot of uninsured or medicaid patients, we are always having money problems. But it's a little worse now, and we've been hrough a huge layoff this year, and it doesn't seem to be helping yet. But this is business as usual for us.

Hey JIff, are you hiring?

Hi Peach, how're those cravings going?

Hey Janice, I know you're going through stuff- I'm thinking of you! I'm not able to post much these days, but I do read most of the time, hang in! And only do what YOU want to do!

Hi everyone else- I want to say hi individually, but we're too big! That's really great- we have such an active group right now!

I'l probably post again later. Off to the showers, and then to HOME DEPOT for once of many trips this weekend!

dottie

Hi Debkay, you sneaked in on me! Have a good one! Save a cookie for me!

Morning girls

I didn't have time to post yesterday afternoon and tell everyone TGIF.. I came straight in from work and got ready to go to a party for my son and daughter-in-law. They are expecting a baby the first of November. It was so neat, the first time I have ever been to a shower/party where the man was included in everything. My son even seems happy last night{long story}, it was good to see him laugh.
Don't have much planned for today, except the usual cleaning and laundry. Tomorrow I am working at the staduim for the "Titan" game. GO TITANS so plan on resting some today too.

All is still going well with my Adkins too. Today is day 6 and I am feeling great.

Hope everyone has a great weekend full of family and friends.

Default WOW I'm here.

This has been a week from h@!!. Me who never goes anywhere at night and sits in front of the TV with my laptop in my lap was not home a single night last week!!! I'm getting too old for this!

And besides that we have been having a record month at work, and with alvin & I both being out most of last month, I haven't had time to sneak online at work either.

Flyaway: I have to work on Saturdays too, but I sorta like it. It's a slower day, and only DH & I and one other person works, so I get a lot done. What do you do? Glad to have you here, if I haven't said so already.

Sunshine: You sound just like I did. I went for years ragging on anyone who did a low carb diet. My DH had WLS and his doc put him on a low carb diet, and I got to researching it and decided to try it. Besides, I found this group and wanted to hang out here I've been doing low carb since May of this year, and lost about 40 pounds, and have never tried any "diet" that was this easy. I really feel like I can do this the rest of my life. (which is the whole point of controlling your weight!)

My dad's health is really a big worry these days. He has an apt with a kidney specialist Mon and we expect him to go on dialysis. And he also has three apts with the new doc that he's going to. My sis from CT is supposed to go back home Sunday, but is debating about staying another week. This is being selfish, but I hope she stays. If she doesn't I will be the one who has to go too all his doctors apt with them. It's sad to say, but My Mom has gotten so (I cant think of a word) maybe dingy? but the new doctor does not trust her to understand his instructions and be able to care for my Dad as he needs. (We think that my Mom has the beginning of Alhzyerheymers I know that's not spelt right, but...

Well, I guess I've rambled enough for the day. I'll try to check in later

CAnyou say duuuhhhh?? I slept in till 10:30 this morning and I haven't had a coffee yet. Dh had to fly out of the house due to an incident at work he has to report on.

Last night we got brave and investigated the "dead animal" in our basement ceiling. Dh cut the roof open and a ton of water spilled out! So, our friend the plumber will be called.. sigh....

Gotta run, Miree is calling me.. see ya

Morning everyone! I picked up my car last night. I'm sooo happy to have transportation again. Already worked out this morning, so the rest of the day is for errands.

Welcome Sunshine! I've only been LC for two months, and still can't get over how much better I feel.

Sue - good luck with the Exchange Student.

Pooky - Sorry to hear about the plumbing problems, it does seem to be a recurring theme on these threads.

Barb - Good to have you back!!

Hope everyone has a good day!

Hi Cute Chicks and you Happy Hens,

I don't have time to read thoroughly through your posts, but I just wanted to pop in and say "Hi" and "Yes, I am still alive!"

And ask Peaches to check her PM.

And to say, hang in there, your dreams can come true. Just takes TONS of work.

And if you have any technical carb questions, and need a lecture to put yourself to sleep with on some long and lonely night, I can help!

"Speaks-in-Dissertations" here.

Yes, I am still Sorta' Carbin' and still have those weird kids making my life non-boring. And I STILL don't have a weight scale nor do I worry about it. I am learning to love myself "as is" instead. Tougher project, but even with low carbs I cannot lose weight. So, I choose to accept who I am and not who I wish I were. No, not perfect, am I; but getting happier with me every day.

Oh, and for those who don't know me, be glad! I do believe in low carbing, but also know you still have to lower the calories as well as the carbs to lose weight. Or up the exercise, which I cannot do anymore - for a medical reason. Low carbs is what the Dept of Agriculture hates to see gaining ground - they are the ones who made up that pyramid thing based on false information and their desire to see us buy more boxed products.

Okay, I will stop the protest now. Just wanted to say hi anyway.

A balanced diet is what our bodies NEEDS - not a fattening diet such as the pyramid is based on.

So sorry about your friend's loss, Sue.

Hello Giggles - I got your e-mail but just got home from an out of town doubleheader and so I won't be responding until tomorrow (I think)

Peachie Keen - I sent you a PM too (or at least I tried).

Hello to everyone else - making this short cuz I was in the sun for many, many hours today and need to veg on the couch for a bit. (I'm seeing baseball plays over and over again whenever I close my eyes and I don't think that is a good sign.)
