Default not so new...back again

I've been on/off here for a few years now. Always ambitious, but end up fizzling before I ever get anywhere.

Starting on 12/27, I decided that 2010 was going to be my year - for all those things I wanted to do but never did. So I started watching what I ate (combined WW with South Beach) and hitting the gym 4-5 days/week walking/jogging for at least an hour. I even started training for a 5k to be held in May.

Maybe I'm going about this the wrong way, but I expected to see a more drastic result. While I feel better, I just don't seem to be getting anywhere. The scale hasn't moved and my clothes aren't even a little looser. I know I didn't put 150 extra pounds on overnight, but I thought I'd at least lose a pound or two. Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong? I switched soda for water, except for one at lunchtime and have been religiously tracking my points with WW - the only thing I don't do is eat the extra points I might be allowed for exercising.

It's just darn frustrating to not see ANY progress for two weeks of hard work...

This might sound crazy but are you stressed out? How about putting some yoga into your routine and see if that makes a difference.

Hi, femgineer! I'm starting again too. 2010 is going to be our year!

I just had to reply to you because your story sounds so much like mine. I did WW faithfully and exercised every day. I dropped 15 lbs in the first 3 weeks and then held at that weight for 3 weeks. I was so discouraged. For me I think it might have been that although I stayed well within my points it wasn't all chicken and vegetables. I look back and see that there were a lot of hidden calories and empty calories. I also think that I was putting on muscle which add weight, even though I was losing fat. But most of all I think science is just clueless about weight and weight loss. Plateaus are a part of weight loss but different for everyone.

I journal ALL of my food at FitDay.com. I plan all my meals and do one really big shopping trip. I automate my breakfast and lunches (Dr Oz) and weigh everything.

I know that I will have a big drop in weight and then a long plateau. I am trying to prepare myself for it. The biggest thing I tell myself is that this is a lifestyle, no matter what the outcome. I need to live healthy because I deserve it.

I know it's frustrating. Hang in there. You deserve to live healthy, no matter what the outcome. We can do this if we all do it together!

It is so weird I found this post! I was just talking to my leader today about the Activity Points and she said that usually if people have quit losing then she will recommend that they start eating their AP. Maybe try that for a week? Best of luck!

Thanks for all the advice. I'm not stressed out (I don't think) LOL but I think I might be pushing just a little too hard.

I think orcagrrl might have hit on it. I was focusing a bit too much on making sure I didn't go over my daily points that I didn't notice I wasn't actually eating what I should have - I came in under the points for at least three days. I'm going to try to be more conscious about getting TO the points before I starting eating the AP - that's the other thing, too. Since I'm so heavy, a 60-minute hard workout is around 15 points!! I can't seriously be expected to eat an extra 750-cals???
