Question Help !!!

Hi Everyone!

I am brand new and have never been to this site. I am currently 300 pounds and have lost 13 lbs on my own but just registered 2 days ago with Weight Watchers. Part ot me says I'm excited to lose 160 pounds the other part of me wants to go back to what happened to me 15 years ago when I was raped and say I'm not good enough to lose weight.

Have you ever had someone approach you and say, Oh you'd be so beautiful if you'd just lose weight. Or your siblings are so much more attractive then you? This has been me.

It's time to get my act in gear and love me instead of allowing my surroundings to control me.

Please let me know some ideas you started with on your adventure to lose weight. I'm kinda overwhelmed. Where do I begin? I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what kind of recipes I can create, etc.

Thanks for helping me out!

Angry TAKE "BABY STEPS"

When I read your message, it was like reading about myself...I started WW 10 months ago at 344,and hopefully tonight I will hit my 50 lb. I was overwhelmed, too. But just set smaller goals,ex. 1st 10 lb.-1st 10%-each 10 lbs is 10 lbs. less to loose. I've got discouraged and wanted "it" off faster, but it's important to keep it off and learn how to change our daily habits. I wish you luck, and remember -if you need an e-mail buddy.just let me know, sister !

Hi Lorolee! Welcome to 3FC's. This is a great place to spend some time and get motivation and inspiration.

I started WW some time ago at 374 and am down 50.

I spend alot of time, although not recently, on the 'Countdown from above 250' thread here under WW 100 Club and also on the '300+ and ready to try again' thread that you will find under the 'Support' heading. You would be more than welcome to join either thread and become a regular. The gals would be happy to have you.

As far as recipes, on both threads we share them often. I, myself, am into having 1 pt. snacks available to me so that when the munchies hit, I have something not very damaging to grab.

I definitely agree with mom4. You need to stop looking at it like 160 pounds. Concentrate on the first 10, and then the second, and then your 10% otherwise you will get overwhelmed real quick.

I hope you will join one of the threads and post as often as you can. It really helps.

Talk to you soon.

"Baby Steps" are definitely the answer -- and part of how I keep on track is using a site and system that really aren't about weightloss at all -- but rather about using baby steps to Finally Love Yourself -- www.flylady.net Very cool site.

I (like Geri/Thinthinker) also post on the "Counting down from above 250" thread here -- and we would definitely be glad to have you. It helps me bunches to have folks to share with when I'm struggling with my weightloss -- and not quite remembering why I began, ya know?

Lorolee, I'm so sorry you were raped. You know you're good enough to lose weight. Look in your mirror every day and tell yourself something nice, something kind. Sounds weird, but I found it very helpful, especially if others in the world have given you negative feedback (or abused you). I used to say "You're beautiful, sweetheart," and it made me cry. But it also uplifted me, and it helped me start on my journey years ago toward self acceptance. You can do this!

Lots of great advice here about baby steps and breaking it down into small chunks of weight instead of looking at 160 pounds. I couldn't even tell you how much I need to lose, total. I just don't think that way. I just take it one day, one pound at a time. That's all you have to do, too.

You'll do great!
