  • So I just went back to the old chat to catch up on what I missed over the weekend, and thanks guys for all the compliments on the dress. Taylor- CONGRATS on the Ann Taylor experience! And Shan-is that website for real?!?!? If it's legit I will seriously buy me a pair right now.
  • Holy crap, I pulled out my old Billy Blanks Boot Camp dvds and did the Mission One dvd (about a 45 minute workout) and I loooooved it! I remember when I was like 15 and desperate to lose 10lbs (even though I really needed to loose like 20-30) I used to do Tae Bo a lot. Actually, it never used to make me sweat that much, but today I am DRENCHED and LOVING it AND I made it through the full workout without much modification (just the squat thrusts because they suck and hurt my joints) and I'm not dead! I feel like I got an awesome workout in Wednesdays and probably Saturdays are definitely going to be my new kickboxing days!

Forest - I have p90x on my computer and my friend who's away at school wants to do it with me and my brother when she comes home this summer. I just have to find my resistance bands.... Can you do it without the pull up bar?
  • platformnine- dont you just love that drippy sweaty feeling after A good workout i feel so rewarded LOL
  • Forest - yeah, I have a friend who can do a 7.5 minute mile, no problem. He was like well, I just started running. Yes, great for you. Meanwhile I'm heaving on my 12 minute mile.

Hm. So I went out to lunch for a co-workers birthday. My friend Sam was like have the Pad Mee, there aren't a lot of calories in it. So I had it, with chicken, no mushrooms, ate the whole thing because my appetite was back, and now have NO idea how many calories are in it. I'm going to guestimate about 600 (there are 300 calories in a serving of pad thai, but I probably had more than one serving, so that's my logic).

I have spin later and either a veggie burger or yogurt parfait for dinner so I'm not too worried, but I can't wait until they have to give us the calorie counts on menus.
  • Mary- I'm not actually doing the whole p90x myself so I'm not sure how much you'd miss if you didn't have a pull-up bar. I'm sure there are modified moves you can do--maybe chair dips or something? I can't actually do a pull up yet but it sure is fun trying on my bf's pull-up bar. I'm so close!! I can get my arms to almost a 90 degree angle but I can't get my chin up to the bar yet. Still, a month ago I couldn't pull myself up at all, not even an inch.
  • My dad gets the lean and fit feed from the Washington Post and just forwarded me some interesting stuff...seems like a good subscription. This article about nutrition "rules" was good I thought: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...isrc=nl_health

Interesting article on running here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...isrc=nl_health

I was thinking of starting a 20-Somethings running thread, if anyone is interested. For everyone just starting c25k, to half and full marathoners and everything in between.
  • WOW. you girls have been quite talkative today!!
No time for personals, I have to be in work in an hour and I want to have some me time before I go!

I got up at 6:30 and went to the gym this morning. Ran for 20 minutes and did 40 minutes of the stairmaster.

I also took the easiest test of my college career today. It was insanely easy!

I'm mad that I'm missing yet another phillies game...UGH. I missed the first 7 innings on monday, and I'll be at work so I'll miss all of it. I just can't wait to see my phils on my birthday in 10 days!!!! I may be up in the poor college kid section (414), but it's totally worth it!!

It's hot out today! Have a great day!
  • If I keep working at this job I'm going to get shot.... I will be the victim of a disgruntled parent because... *Gasp* I was doing MY job.

Long story short: "guardian" came into register child, in my state you have to have court order documentation of custody or a parent on birth cert. present... where they came from you can have a parent write a statement and have it notorized to turn over "temporary custody." I won't let her register which is BOARD POLICY throughout the county. She's claiming the elementary school let her register her grandson that way. Well, this isn't the elementary school.

UGH. Stupid parents really piss me off.
  • Samantha - Oh no! I'm not sure I'm going to get to watch the game tonight either. But I did watch the one on Monday - OMG good game lol. The first game I get to go to is the 30th!
  • Forest - Would be down for thread. And, I tend to think of everyone's running goals as different. You can barely run a 10-minute mile, but if you're trying your hardest to, that's what matters. Your friends might be running 8 or 9 minute miles, but they might only be exerting minimal effort, which means they're not training at their max. I think speed is something you can train for, but it's a lot harder than endurance (in my opinion).

Stella - Just slow down the mile a bit and get comfortable running/breathing at a slower pace. You'll feel better (aka dislike running less) and then work on speed. I think it requires work for everyone, just some of us have to work harder than others, as with all things in life.

JESS - I AM SO SAD! I thought you registered! I saw that it was almost sold out and was like EFF IT time to register and so I did. You should still come down to hang though! I can't run any of the races you will be running since I won't be here! I leave April 20 to May 9 and then I leave at the end of July for DC. So hopefully we can find some run in between. By running together, I don't mean we're at the same pace. Just the same race. I don't think I could run with somebody else, too much pressure.

Chicagogal - Yep! Going to GW in the fall. I started last fall but then took a deferral in order to see if this was right for me. I think I'm ready now to tackle Contracts again. I hated that class. Are you working now? Or still in school?

I think I need to check out this P90X thing for sure later on down the road. Maybe for the last 20-30 pounds. For now, I got this crazy idea in my head to start triathlon training.
  • Sweet/Alana-I haven't totally decided... I lean slightly towards family law...but I'm open to new options

I Just took a practice LSAT and my score has ruined my day

Feral- you need to put a be nice to me sign on your desk

Jenny- Glad you had fun on your trip...cheesecake factory is the devil

Stella- I can workout for a very long time...however running is not in my genes...but I'm gonna try it soon..I think

I took spin today... I cant say that I really liked todays class... I didnt feel like I got a very good workout

I'm going out for mexican food with my family tonight..oh joy there is absolutely nothing I will be able to eat there...
  • Jess - no offense, but I've tried running slower, and it does not help at all, it kind of makes it a bit worse. I used to run on the treadmill at 4.0 (so a 15 minute mile) and feel like I was going to pass out. I can do a 12 minute mile now, on the treadmill, but by the end of it I'm just gasping.

My legs do NOT get tired when I'm running, its just my lungs literally will not take in air. I've tried belly breathing, and that helped initially, but my lungs do NOT like running. I've actually been told by a friend of mine (med-school drop out) that it sounds like I have exercise induced asthma, based on how I describe my breathing and how my chest feels. Apparently you can run like this, as CB just ran a 20K this weekend and he tells me that's how he is when he runs, but man, it HURTS. I'm not a fan of that burning chest feeling.

Someone write this midterm for me. I'm not going spinning tonight, I just don't feel like it, but I'm going for a walk when Chelsea gets back from work. I'm hoping to have this done by 5:30 (hahaha).
  • Stella- go over my LSAT mistake and teach me how to get the right answer and I'll write it for you
  • Haley - Are you taking a test every, single day?! You gotta give yourself a break. There's only so much information your brain can handle before overload. And, some tests are harder than others. What section are you having problems with? I can help with games and reading comp but logical reasoning is my weak point.

Stella - I get burning lungs too and the other day I thought I was going to puke from running. I had to slow down because I was about to yack all over the treadmill. But I still think you've made excellent progress. You used to run a 15-minute and now you run a 12-minute. Call me crazy but that's cutting your mile time by 3 whole minutes. That's pretty bad ***.

I have heard that speed interval training helps with breathing, and I try to do them, but that's when puke feeling hit. Maybe I'll try again later.

I need to get off my *** and do a time trial outside. Got TOM last night. Lame.
  • I'm a lot better at intervals than I am at just straight out running. I could do intervals for an hour and I'm like YEAH GIVE ME MORE. But just straight running. Blech.
