Hi the group mail hasn't been showing up in my inbox. I thought everyone just hadn't posted since last week. Glad I came on the site to see! I start the gym tomorrow morning. I have to go sign the paper work and then I plan to work out. Wish me luck! I plan to start out on the treadmill and go from there. I'll be up at 4:30 am to get there by 5 when it opens. I'm a little nervous. I had planned to wait until I was closer to 200 but if I don't start now I never will right. So tomorrow night I'll let you all know how I did. Gennel I had a question. Right now I'm getting 1200 calories a day. Rarely more. Do you think I should up it or just see how it goes with this? I do plan to make my lunch more substantial. Right now I only have 150 calories at lunch time. No fat wheat bread 1 slice (that's all I have that 1 slice)= 45cal., lowfat lunch meat=30 cals for 3 slices and an apple. I only have a half hour for lunch so I make it something light. I just don't want to make the weight loss stop, because I'm not taking in enough. Let me know what you think. Take care everyone. Di
Hey Di,
It's been my experience when I have stayed around 1,200 calories a day almost everyday....you slowly start to plateau. My metabolism slowed down to save energy, so it surived just fine with 1,200 calories a day. It drove me nuts! In the beginning it was great I was losing at least 2-3 lbs a week. But that came to an end! Then I varied my calories but mainly I varied my fatgrams. One day I would have 25-28 fatgrams in a day and the next I had like 15-18 fatgrams. This has kept me at a steady weightloss, not much but its steady 1- 2.5 lbs a week.
How long have you been eating 1,200 calories a day, more or less?? At your current weight I think its like 1,400-1,600 calories a day. If I eat everything lowfat 1,600 calories is way too much food ! lol Today for example my lunch was 240 calories( 2 fatfree hotdogs,2slice of lightwheat bread 90 calories,
,relish,mustard,ketchup30 cal,fatfree nacho 30 calories.
That really fills me up a lot!! lol. If you would see me eating that you would thinkg" OMG , this girl thinks she's dieting???" It's not how much you eat really, its what you eat. Of course if I was eating a regular pizza slice I would only have one after I've patted it down with a dozen napkins to soak up the grease! lol
Good luck at the Gym!

Hi Everyone. Well I went to Wal Mart and made a fast stop in the exercise equipment area. I showed my husband the Elliptical Monster and he told me to put it on layaway. It was only $149 and some change. I didn't put it on layaways because then I would be so depressed because I would have to wait for it to be paid off. But I was too excited to know my husband was supportive about it. I told him about your success Gennel. I let him know that you lost your weight so quickly and if I could get down to 150 I would be more willing to wear the slinky sleep outfits he is always pointing at. Silly boy.
But I wanted to ask do those machines need to be plugged in? I can't wait. I hope I get it before my family's weight challenge ends in September. Talk to you later.
Hi everyone. 1st day at the gym was fabulous I worked with a personal trainer who set me up on a cardio workout for this week. This meant 25 minutes on the treadmill and 20 minutes on the recumbent lifecycle bike. I loved it! It was a workout and boy was I sweating, but when I saw how many calories I was burning I was in Heaven! Next week I will be doing the cardio pumped up a notch and the trainer is adding weights to the program. Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me to join. I thought I'd be embarrassed, but there was only 6 other people there and they were all to busy with their own programs to worry about me. The trainer said he was impressed at how much I did this morning especially since I haven't done exercise like that in a long time.
Gennel- I added a few more calories at lunch. I talked to someone at work who used to be a trainer and he told me to add carbohydrates and protein at lunch to give me energy to keep going. He also said just to not take it over board on my intake. So I'm thinking maybe that's a good idea. I don't want to plateu. I've been there once and it sucked so I'm going to try to keep myself going. Thanks again for the advice. Take care. Di
Great job at the gym!!!!!!! I'm glad you like it. If you keep going in you might make a new friend and that really helps the time fly. When I would go to the gym I always tried to have a good book to read or go with someone so I had someone to talk to. I like riding the bike and reading it would make time fly by. Tomorrow I'm taking my kids to the fair. Ugh fair food, I am going to try and stay away from the funnel cakes.
Well I am reporting in bad news. I fell down the back porch steps today. The steps were slippery from all the rain and my feet just went up from underneath me. It was horrible. I have never fallen in my life. I hope I don't feel any worse tomorrow. I feel bad right now. I just hope it doesn't get worse. I went over to mom's and walked on her treadmill at a steady pace. Then I got onto her bicycle and rode on that for a few minutes. Then went over to her stair climber for a few minutes. I figure if I just do something without over doing it the pain won't be so bad and I will get better quicker. I don't know. I am just praying I don't feel bad tomorrow. It's my head that has been hurting. I didn't hit my head but I jerked it pretty hard. My back is aching but not as bad as it looked when I fell. Ouch.
Well becareful around the slippery spots people they are a killer. Bye. Kinarina
Kina- I'm very sorry to hear about your accident. Consider taking some anti-inflamatory pain killer like moltrin which might not only help the pain but by reducing swelling keep any additional damage to a minimum. Also, try some ice packs (bags of frozen peas are actually ideal as you can mold them to any shape). Unless you are sure it's just bumps and bruises it might be a good idea to see a doctor, especially since your neck/back was involved. It's amazing that in the face of that pain you still went off and did exercise.
The scale has not been a good friend of mine this week so far, so I'm not excited about tomorrow's weigh-in. But I'm focusing on the goal of making sure that I get back down to goal weight by the end of next week.
you might want to try this for also...Our local hopital makes up Rice socks for mothers in labor to help with back labor. I have made my own and love it. I took long sock that lost its partner and you fill it with a small box of rice and tie the end shut. you then heat it up in the microwave for a couple minutes and you have an instand heat pad that you can mold around you. It works great to lay on or wrap around a stiff neck. It will hold its heat for quite a while. I usually get mine a little warm so I wrap a small towel around it until it cools some and then take the towel off and use it. Hope you feel better soon
Thanks. I will give it a try. I just finished my yoga. I took it easy. I am not going to give up on the easy exercise because I don't want the aching to make me stiff and feel worse. The yoga is very moderate and doesn't give me jolts. So I think I will benefit from the yoga. I am a little aching but I think I would have been worse had I just laid in bed yesterday. If I let this get me down it will be hard to get back into the swing of things. At the same time my kiddos will be back in school soon. My plan was to spend as much time possible and my college gym. So I have to be better by then.
TTYL.

Kina- I'm sorry to hear about your fall, hope you're not as sore now.
Manattes- thanks for the advice. Maybe eventually I will find a workout buddy. I watched the news at the gym this morning so that made time go a little faster
I know you will probably all get sick of hearing me talk about the gym, but I know if I make myself accountable for it I'll be more likely to stay. Today I was on treadmill for 35 minutes and recumbent life cycle for 25 minutes. I can really feel it in the backs of my thighs tonight. Cannot wait to start the weight program next week, and get set up on a regular routine. The trainer just wants me to get a feel for the cardio this week before I start the weights with it. I'm praying for a loss this weigh in. Hope everyone is doing well. Take care- Di
Hello everyone!
Yesterday was my big date My wedding anniversary was yesterday. My hubby went all out ! He reserved a beautiful hotel right on Ocean Drive (south Beach) I got a gorgeous bouquet of tropical flowers and roses. Also my dining room arrived the day before! So I finally got to wear that slinky sexy spaghetti strap dress lol. We had a blast. My mom stayed with our girls. After so many years we went out to a club/restaurant on the beach where these Brazilian waiters and waitresses dance on the bar! I totally ate whatever Iwanted yesterday! Chicken Parmesean with pasta....I cut that chicken breast loaded with mozzarella and put it aside before I ate the whole thing! lol Hmmm..about 2-3 Long Island ice-teas
So this afternoon Iwas back in the Gym with a slight hangover lol.
I'm not expecting to lose anything this week...but I deserve it!
Grizzly, congrats on the Gym!!! You will see results in no time!
Kina-The Elliptical machine I use at the Gym is plugged in,cause it has this huge keypad where you can program it or use the automated personal trainer button.
I will post pictures tomorrow!

"If you want to make your dreams come true, wake up"
Well, Gennel, if you going to blow a diet for a day, that's the way to do it! Much better than snarffling down a bag of chips at home. I think we all need to have a plan that allows us your kind of indulgences once in a while to avoid feeling trapped and rebellious.
I've been OP all week, but my notion of what that program is has been changing due to what I've been reading about dairy (good) and carbs (bad). Not that I'm going to try a true low-carb diet, but I am limiting the staples that I used to base my diets on (lots of brown rice, while grain bread, etc) and for the first time making a big effort to include lots of LF and NF dairy.
Maybe for that reason, the scale has been a real roller coaster ride for me this week. Each day has been a surprise... some pleasant some not. I'm curious to see what tomorrow will bring, with today's being on the pleasant side.
OH GENNEL~~~~~~I just had to post after reading about your big anniversary night out on the town! YGG! I bet you two really lived it up and you were looking pretty hot! Boy are we ever alike......long island iced teas is exactly what i love to order at a good place too. don't worry, from the sounds of how you saved some of the food to go, i bet you'll do fine. I actually lost weight(2 #) one time when we went out and stayed a weekend in a city 3 hrs. away. I had 2 long island drinks (and this bartender knew how to make em strong like i like!)but must have ate sensibly enough, and i think it was at the top of my range, but it actually caused a loss! Who would know. And with the way you exercise you might lose or maintain it! And that wil be WONDERFUL!
GRIZZ~~~~I'm not in the least sick of hearing about you at the gym. It's a wonderful motivator for the rest, and i bet you are feeling sooo strong with this new attitude. YGG~
Post how the trainer starts you on the wt. training...i always love to learn new things. Thanks!
YoYoMom~~~~I too, had to incorporate the lower carb thing into my life. I felt more energy flowing nearly instantly. Course i was pretty careful with all sugars and white flours at the start. I still eat carbs but not too much of them...try to have protien right with them. and it did help me jog that stubborn scale into the down mode again. I still eat cheese with my salads and hardly ever eat bread. I still "gotta" eat the pasta(that always was my weakness), but i do watch it. Good luck and let us know what else you are doing.
Bye for now!
I'll PM or post my wt. results Sat. nite.
Be strong all!

Hi All! I am feeling a bit better. I have been doing my yoga daily and I think it absolutely helped my body from feeling the aches and pains from the fall. Now don't get me wrong...I do feel soreness. But it is not pain like I knocked something out of place. It's just like I got banged up. I love that yoga. I am also doing the ab roller still. Now that one I have to take it easy because I use my back muscles.
Gennel^^^^^^thanks I figured it was plugged in because it says something about "with a push of a button go from easy to challenging resistance." I am hoping that by August 1 I have my own here at the house.
Di^^^^^^^^^your stories of gym training is great for the mind. I need that extra shove every now and then. You keep at it and keep up with the day by day report. Because not only is it good for us it is good for you. It's keep you going so that you will have something to report to us. Kind of like an obligation...now you really have to go.LOL
YoYo^^^^^^^that is great that you got your scale to budge. you just keep at it. It will start going in the right direction everyday eventually. I still can't get mine to move. I look at it this as long as it isn't going up that is good enough for me.
Thinlizzie^^^^Same here I can live without the bread but PASTA! OMG it is torture if you tell me I can't have spaghetti. But I swore to only make pasta foods once a week. Otherwise I just eat a salad with some chunks of chicken.
