  • Hello all!
Hello all! I am new to this site and I am finding it to be very interesting! I have been drinking water, walking, and watching my portion sizes. It has been 4 months and I have dropped 10lbs. I am needing a little advice. My husband and I are renewing our vows in September. I am begining my dress shopping around the 18th of August. I want to drop at least another 5-10 by then. Any advice?

    Blessings,
    Kari
  • Hello!
We're getting way to far down on the list. That must mean we're not posting again. I hope everyone is doing well! I've had a good week and am looking forward to the weekend. We have no special plans just sleeping in!

Kari: Welcome to our group! It sounds like you're off to a great start. Just keep doing what you're doing and the weight'll come off. Maybe try some strength training along with the walking. That should help tone your muscles and make you smaller.

DS is sick today and missed work. Please pray that he's better tomorrow. We don't want to blow this job opportunity. He has a sick stomach but right now seems to be hungry so maybe that's a good sign.

    Have a good night!
  • HI GALS~

I am so sorry for not posting. I hate to admit it, being from always great weather southern California, but it is just too hot here for me to sit at the computer! We do not have AC, never really need it more than a couple of days a year.

WELCOME BACK ZOE!!! We have really missed you here! I was in the Dallas-Ft. Worth airport a couple of weeks ago...HOT!!!!

We have been really busy here with the kids returning from Europe and dinners with them, plus all the wedding plans for both.

I don't have time to talk longer, nephew needs a ride...gotta go...
  • hi there!
Welcome Kari! Sounds like your doing well.
Wilma- Sorry to hear about DS, hope he is soon feeling better! Glad to hear you had a great week, hope the weekend is just as good, going camping this weekend.
E.Z.-hi guy, our niece's b-day is today! she is 3, having party tom. her first family b-day party.
I am doing well, I have decided to check out the pros and cons of weight loss surgery, I have a consult with primary on Monday, and I am going to bariatric center Aug. 25th, for seminar. I have been praying about it, and think it might be the answer for me. I have a couple friends who had it done last fall and they look and feel great, one has lost 90 lbs so far. I continue to research it and trust I will make the right decision! Gotta run, get ready for camp, catch ya later. God bless!
  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAYLEE!!!
  • HI GALS~

So did anyone happen to see Jay Leno on the Tonight Show on Wed. ? I forgot to mention that one of our boys from church was on it with a Teenage Wasteland video or something....Angie and Ryan watched it and said it was good, they DVR'd it for me so I will see it this week-end. Since I have been getting up at 3:30 AM...not too much late night TV for me!!

Knucklehead nephew just got a letter from his high school today saying he owes $135 for 2 lost books....he did tell me about it at the end of the school year...AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...he is gonna pay!! If I ever quit hugging the kid I would probably shoot him!

AUNT SUE~ Prayers in your decision. Have a great time at OUR neice's birthday party!!

WILMA~ Thanks for bringing us to the top!! Best of health to your son.

    KARI~

    JOAN FAY~ When is the
gonna end? I am used to coastal breezes here in O'side...not gettin' it!

    ZOE~ Hello...are you STILL there?

off to Soup Plantation for dinner after looking at baby stuff for my neice's baby shower next week-end...

    GET OUT AND WORSHIP!!
  • Good Saturday morning!
    Hello y'all

yes Gary, I'm still here. Busy, busy, busy.......my daughter's wedding is 3 weeks from today. Between being SO busy, the stress of getting it all together and yes, now being broke, it's been quite hectic. What makes it a little worse is that it's an out-of-town wedding. It's going to be in Tampa, FL due to family and friends being there. We are the only one's here in Ft Worth so it just seemed better. At any rate, it's coming together and this morning, we are trying to figure the seating out. With divorced parents (mine), it's going to be a JOY seating people without someone else gettng mad. UGH! Pray for me.

I don't mean to be short here but I have to run.......with all my DIETING, I"m still feeling like the "fat-mother-of-the-bride" so I have to get my dress. Nothing like a last minute purchase. I was so SURE that if I waited, I would be getting a much smaller size. As it turns out, not the case. So, a size 12/14 is still it. Phooey!

Have a great weekend and yes, get to church tomorrow!! You'll feel so much better.
  • just droppin' by to say hi to everyone!
I am also glad that I found you all!!
I have lost 6lbs this week!!
  • Hey y'all,

Sorry that I've been MIA lately... life has been busy. I went to NC with my friend Theresa from July 13- 17, then turned around and went back from the 22 until yesterday. the second trip was for a mission trip. 22 of us from my church went to a Baptist children's home in NC. These kids broke my heart- they are there for lots of reasons, but from what my group told me, lots of neglect and abuse in their homes... we taught a youth vbs but we also took the band and equipment etc for lots of active worship! I led a bible study for 10 girls and helped with the art track... we had a lot of fun but tiring! We got home last night. I was in the van that got home around 4:30... we had one man that was sick and the driver was ready to be home...so she took off and we didn't stay with the rest of the group.... well, the trailer had a flat and then later the church van broke down in Atlanta! (right in rush hour traffic)One of our church members is currently working in Atlanta with the National guard and he helped come to the rescue... the van was towed to a shop, the trailer switched to another vehicle and everyone piled in together... the last vehicle got in around 11:30 last night...boy did they have a long day! today has been a lazy day for me... I did manage to go to the grocery store etc this evening...

foodwise? that's a good question... i tried to watch my portions... but I didn't have a lot of control over what we ate...when I checked my blood sugar, it was fine... and we did get in lots of exercise...I'll see what the scale says in the morning....

  • The Lord's Day
    Good Sunday morning!!

I had this BURST of energy today and went to the 7:00 (yes, AM!) service. We've been growing so much as a church family that we added a 3rd service but in order to accomodate 3, one has to be VERY early. I usually go at 9:00 but have been wanting to try the 7:00 for a few weeks ~ but, I'm usually just too lazy to get up that early. But today, there I was, driving to church at 6:45am. I amazed myself!

Anyway, church was wonderful, as usual and now I'm home to get on with the rest of my day. I'm headed to Macy's to find a 'mother-of-the-bride' dress. Since I didn't take the dieting very seriously the last few months, I'm already thinking it's going to be a bad experience.

So, y'all have a great Sunday!
  • A quick message before heading off to bed. I had a nice relaxing weekend again. It's so hot here these days that we just stay in our air conditioned house. Too bad, in a way, that we aren't enjoying our summer as much by staying indoors. This coming weekend we hope to head to the cabin again. Even more relaxing!!

DS's flu bug lasted only one day and he was back at work. He's getting a few more hours now so that's helping him a lot. His knees have hardly bothered him lately. We are so THANKFUL for the changes we are seeing in our son. He's becoming the confident person he used to by.

Zoe: Church at 7:00 a.m. That is early! I'm proud of you for getting there that early. It's amazing that your church is growing that fast that it needs to have 3 services.

How did the dress shopping go? Please don't get down on yourself about not losing the weight you wanted to. I pray that you find a dress that is just perfect for you. I wore a size 14 dress to my son's wedding and felt really beautiful in it. Attitude counts for a lot. You are a beautiful person - let that show!!

Reba: What an adventure you had! I'm glad everyone ended up at home safely.

Big House: We're going to have to call you Little House pretty soon! Keep up the great work!

Gary: I wanted to tell you that I tried the salmon recipe you posted quite some time ago - the one with the honey dill glaze. It was really tasy. I made a mushroom rice dish with it and also some green beans from my garden. Really tasty! DH really enjoyed it which surprised me because he isn't very adventerous with food and I really didn't think he would like the salmon. Wonders never cease!

Are you still in the heat wave? I've been seeing on the news that California is really suffering. Try to stay cool. I'd send you some nice Canadian cold weather but we don't have that here right now either.

Doitforme: I'll be praying for you in your decision. That's a really big one to make. I'm glad you're not just jumping into it but are doing the research.

    Good Night!!
  • Hi there!
I got home from work and moved appliances tonight- the stove went a week and a half ago the dryer last week and I have been wanting to replace the fridge since the seal has been really bad, and it doesn't close right. Well the old are out the new are suppose to arrive tom. It will be nice to have a stove again. The last couple days the heat has been aweful. Everything else going well! I got my referral and am signed up for the second step a seminar to discuss all the procedures pros and cons, I have researched it alot already. E.Z. must have forwarded the heat wave to me, He sends the sun in the winter, but I have to say thanks buddy, enough already, like the 80's not triple digits. I feel bad for you guys having it several days. I bet you are getting excited, niece's new baby, soon. How exciting.
Wilma- glad to hear ds is better. Please send me a cool canadian breeze, don't want it cold just a tad cooler would be nice.
Zoe- keep your chin up and smile, I remember what a pretty lady you are, I pray you find the perfect dress and it all goes well,
Big House congrats great job, wilma is right, you'll have to change your name before long.
Reba- sounds like you had a really cool trip, working for the Lord. Such a true satisfaction in that, you'll get on track now your home, hope you get a couple days to rest.
Trust this finds you all well, God Bless!
  • Hello Everyone
doitforme - you are in my prayers. I know of one individual who has had the proceedure and is doing very well. I'm glad you are doing the research and understand all that is involved.
Reba -- oh my goodness - well the Lord had to be watching out for all of you.
It is rewarding when you do service in His name.
Zoe -- Don't let the dress size ruin your day. You will look lovely - just have a good time and enjoy.
Gary -- Well,I think we are now having a cooling time. Right now there is a lovely breeze. That was an unreal two weeks. Your nephew sounds like a lot of fun. Hee Hee So now the wedding plans - that will keep you busy for awhile.
Wilma -- Glad your son is getting back to normal - those ribs sound sooo good.
Kari -- Welcome - it sounds like you have a good program going. Just take it one day at a time. Remember - Our yesterdays are gone - hopefully we have learned from them. The good Lord give us but 24 hours at a time - so that's today. Make the most of it. Our tomorrows aren't here yet. They are in the Lord's hands. So hang in there.

As for me -- I'm very busy with the pastor nominating committee. Just received a pastor information form by e-mail yesterday from our chairman.
I had to give my opinion. Not an easy thing to do. I do feel God has a plan for our church - it just will take time.

So keep cool everyone -- I'm anxious to hear about all the weddings coming up.
    Blessings and Hugs
