  • Rosie, my heart hurts for you. You gave Gizmo a wonderful home and loved him while he was with you. I hope you get some comfort from that.
  • Rosey I feel your pain. Gizmo will suffer no more. I had a dog that I had to put down and that was so hard. I never forgot her and how special she was to me.

    Hugs for you Rosey.

  • Oh Rosey I am so sorry that you lost Gizmo. It is so hard to do the right thing and let them go when it's time. That's not rain but God's tears .....love you, k3
  • Rosey,

There are no words to ease the pain of your loss. I hope that the warmth of our friendship provides you some comfort. Love you.

  • Rosey - I'm sitting here blubbering like a baby! I'm so sorry for your and Steve's loss. That little guy was such a gift and brought you so much joy... and I hope you can remember that part. I wish I could hug you.

  • I am not sure I have introduced myself here or not. If not, I apologize, and my condolences to Rosey who lost her beloved pup.

I am a 50+ trying to lose weight and get fit. I have a question for y'all. I think this is the best place to post it.

I'm 57, going to be 58 in a couple of months and I am just now in peri menopause. Right now it is driving me crazy as I seem to be cycling through periods at a rapid rate. I've started a period, 8/4, then 8/24 and now 9/12. These are periods that are less than 3 weeks apart. The PMS is getting to me, especially the water retention, but that is not my major concern.

Does being overweight have something to do with late menopause? There are pros and cons to late menopause. Pros - better bones, etc. Cons - biggest one, increased risk of breast cancer.

Can any of you shed some light on this for me or point me in the direction of some good resources? Anyone else here menopause after 57?

I don't have family history to go on because both mother and grandmother had hysterectomies in their early 40's (fibroids). The OBGYN says I have fibroids, but they don't bother me enough to do anything about them.

Also, do you have any tips on losing weight while going through this, or any tips on getting through this at all (especially the water retention and breast tenderness)?
  • Good afternoon Goldies
I'm not going to get excited here because anything could still happen but my ds told me that OSHA brought a trailer into the plant and they are on it. They are cracking the whip making all kinds of changes. From what I read on the rawlins news it took someone quitting and calling OSHA about the problem. Apparently this guy was too close to the fire. They said even though there was no injuries the last couple times it needed to be addressed. This guy said he's worked in refineries 35 years and has never seen anything like this. It about time.
Just wanted to let y'all know this. Praying for everyone in this refinery.

    Hugs

  • Good evening GG’s,

Rosey ~ again ~ so sorry about Gizmo. Thank you for sharing him with us.
My favorite memory is your description of him pulling Steve’s slipper around. (Wasn’t he giving your other little one a ride in it?)

Isabella ~ what adventures are you having? Sorry for your frustration with the nameless building supply store.

CK ~ your family times on Sundays always sound like such a good time.

Bobbi ~ any news on another offer for your house? Did your DH have a better day at work today?

Lynn & Marie ~ miss you both ~ hope you are doing ok. Come visit us ~ let us know how you’re doing.

Donna ~ love your angel picture for Rosey. You find such nice pictures. Did you have a nice day off?

Freda ~ glad you had a nice vacation and a fun time at your family reunion.

Rie ~ wow you are wonder woman ~ all the things you tackle. Like K3 said ~ no wonder you are tired and achy. No one can say your life is dull.

Carol Sue ~ the books you are reading sound good. Any luck yet finding something besides food to be passionate about?

K3 ~ glad you didn’t blow away. Hope there will be no more storms this year.

Mary ~ sorry for the heart ache of the family problems ~ your faith will help you make it through.

Cajun ~ hoping and praying that the OSHA people can fix things so that there are no more fires and explosions ~ glad prayers have been answered so far and that your son is safe.

  • Welcome Kitty....sorry, I saw your post but couldn't think of anything other than Gizmo, our shared dog on this thread. As to your water retention, just keep drinking the water. How's your salt intake? I had a hysterectomy also in my 40's so can't help you out there.
Is it Donna Birthday today? Happy Birthday!
My smilies aren't working this am?

    No news on the house.
  • Happy Birthday to you Donna ~ enjoy your day

  • Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday missy donna, happy birthday to you.
  • Happy Birthday Donna

Morning all....Just reading the posts and after each note to Rosie I'd think that's just what I wanted to say....How wonderful we all can find perfect ways to tell one of us we understand your pain and wish we could ease it. Guess that is one of the reasons we've lived long enough to be Golden.

Cajun...Good news about OSHA...damn that feels funny to say because when I was working it always seemed like OSHA was the enemy.

Welcome Unrepentent...Do you have a real name? Think of us as a coffee klatch and pore a mug and pull up a chair. We handle all the problems with possible answers, lots of support, quick tears and hugs. We've all been there or done that.

Where is Marie? I can't find her anywhere....so miss the pack!

My bridge partner took off for WI and I need to get a hold of her. The cell phone number she gave me is wrong. Her doctor called and needs to change her meds....I have a dozen calls out for possible number...boy the man who has the wrong number got ticked off at me yesterday....Waiting for a couple to return my calls and maybe?????

    Door belll later k3
  • Donna,

    Happy Birthday Darlin!

Hoping you have a really great day!
