  • Monday, March 24th:

My first running class. There are six of us, all women, ranging from a marathoner and a triathlete, to me, to women trying to get back to running after the winter to one woman who got winded during the warmup. I'm in the middle. I cannot tell you how anxious I felt all day long about this class, and how I dreaded the cold (it was just in the 30s today, though sunny), now I feared I'd get tired while everyone else ran & ran.

We ran on the gorgeous, expensively surfaced track at the affluent high school, which is a state powerhouse in track & field. It's a 400-meter track. We were supposed to run for 20 minutes. I forget how many laps I did without stopping. Maybe six?

She advised us to run three times each week. I have to step it up.

Her only comment to me was to keep going, and she said I ran with a natural skip. This makes me feel slightly better about the whole thing.
  • March 24 PM: 5 minute elliptical warmup, assisted chinups and dips, DB bench press, barbell overhead press, lying tricep extensions, bent over DB rows, 75 KB swings, 50 KB deadlifts, planks

  • Tuesday, March 25th:

30 minutes Stairmaster, which my legs did not appreciate during about the last five minutes
60 minutes chest, shoulders & triceps
  • Quote: she said I ran with a natural skip.
saef, this is lovely. It brings a wonderful picture to mind of someone who has natural joie de vivre and who doesn't care. It's such a positive thing to say. This group sounds as though it'll be good. I'd like to come but can't really make it.

My exercise has been pathetic as I have a virus/cold/something horrible.

  • Thanks all. It's nice to remember Monday night ...

... because today was awful. Up at 4:30 AM, no gym, at the office by 7 AM, working till 6:30 PM, through lunch. Too late for spin class.

I felt chewed up & spat out.

Walked to the gym like a zombie, telling myself, "Just walk on the treadmill, you'll feel more energized." Well, a little. Couldn't run, though I wanted to. Finally did some one-minute sprints at 6.0, then walked at 3.5. That was all I could manage.

    So yeah: Wednesday, March 26th:

    45 minutes treadmill walking
  • Thursday, March 27th:

60 minutes elliptical, resistance at nine, alternating backward & forward
    5 x 5 deadlifts fixed barbell 100 lbs.
    60 minute Pilates mat class
