Okay I haven't really been up with this... I've been doing the 30DS and Jillian has us killing our arms by the time the whole video is over. So after a short rest I try to do as many push ups as I possibly can before I become a heap on the floor. I know it doesn't really count, but I do feel like I'm getting stronger.

I admit I had to cheat a bit and go down a level. My husbands doing it too but he's a week behind me so I'm going to repeat week 4 next week on level 3. Eek is right! It's not an easy week!

Congrats on your 12, cake batter!!

I did Week 2, day 2 (missed Wednesday, when I should have done it) today. I'll be finishing up week 2 and then seeing whether or not I should move on this weekend.

It's amazing how quickly you really can improve at this. I started last week and could only do the "girl" style pushups. This week, day's one and two - I could do them "boy" style - but only go down about 1/4 of the way - and then last night (week 1 - day 3 ) I could go down about 1/2 way. at this rate by the end of next week I hope to be able to press all the way down. woohoo. Feels good to be getting stronger.

Default What's a push-up?

I'm so glad I found this thread! Looks like a super addition to the couch-to-5K, which doesn't leave me a lot of time/energy to do strength training. But pushups I can do anywhere, anytime.

Now a question. I am a total wimp, and I can't do "real" pushups at all. Maybe one or two, going halfway down. But if I go all the way down, I can't get back up! I can do a handful of knee pushups. I'm def in column 1.

So here's the question... I want to be doing this with "real" pushups. Should I repeat Week 1 over and over until I'm doing full pushups? Or should I move through the weeks with knee pushups until I build some strength?

Any advice from people who had to start on their knees? Thanks!

I am not sure what the "offical" rules are - but this is what I did.
At the end of the week - redo the exhaustion test doing "real" pushups. If you can do up to 5 good real pushups, then you are ready to move off your knees. If you are still unable to do 5 real pushups, then continue through the weeks on your knees. After each week retake the exhaustion test. If you can do 5 good pushups, then start over on Week 1/Day 1 - doing real pushups.

I stayed on my knees for one week. I am still unable to go all the way to the ground (I can only go about halfway down), but I am definetly getting stronger. I am gonna keep going through to week 3, and then take the exhaustion test again. If I can't go all the way to the ground, then I am gonna go just stay in week 3 until I can.

Hope this helps - good luck.

I'm starting Week 1 Day 1 today. I think it's a good challenge.
Is anybody else doing modified pushups? I'm doing them on my knees for now, then I think if I feel stronger after I'll switch to full pushups...

Debbies, thanks! That gives me a better idea of what to expect. Actually, when I do knee push-ups, I'm in column two. Hopefully after a few weeks I can start over with "real" push-ups. Today was my first day and it was SAD! But hey, that much more room for improvement.

Just a quick update. I finished the program last week and tried to do 100 consecutive pushups. I got to 60 pushups and 120 situps before my arms and abs gave out.

I did it again the other day and could do it in 4 sets of 25 with 20 seconds of rest between each set. I'm probably going to go back to week 4 and build up again, then give it another shot. I'm still very happy with this because I started out not being able to do ANY, but I'm going to work my way to 100 if it kills me
