I keep forgetting to print out the '100 push up challenge' charts, so I haven't been following it yet... What I have done so far (my own little personal pushup challenge! )

3/4 -10 pushups, rest, 9 pushups, rest, 1 sad little pushup to finish
added in gradually over the month...
4/1 - 14 pushups, rest, 14 pushups, rest, 3 before I fell on my face...

I've also increased my situps from 30 to 75 in that same time frame.

I swear I'll start the official program soon.

Cakebatter: I took your advice and restarted week one. I can get into a nice plank and drop a tad bit, but definitely not even half a real push-up. Should I redo week one again?? or should I just go into week 2. I do feel like I'm getting a bit stronger. Level 2 of 30DS is really helping my arms and core too though, so I don't know which is helping more!

way to go Shannon! sounds like you're doing great!

I did week 2, day 1 today and managed 7 for the 'most' set. I may do week 2 day 1 again on Monday, so I get on a proper M/W/F schedule. It probably would have been bright to start that way...but oh well.

Does anyone do push-ups off their fists, instead of palms to the floor? I tried it but I'm not game enough yet...seems like it might be better for the wrists though.

Aangel I don't think there is a limit. I personally would week 1 unti I felt ready to move on. Go with what you are comfortable again.

I didn't my push-ups in today. I know I feel horrible. But I am doing them tomrrow morning. And angel if I don't feel like I mastered week 1 after I do day 3 tomorrow I am doing week 1 AGAIN! THis time around I was stronger and I could really tell. SO if I have to do W1 Again I know it will be last....good luck

Major props to those of you who are doing this and 30DS together. That sounds brutal.

I'm on W6D3 so I'm going to try the 100 pushups/200 situps test in a couple of days. I'm nervous, but if I don't make it then I'm just going to drop back to week 4 and go through it again.

A few things I've learned while doing this -

You'll improve A LOT faster than you think. Like I said before, 6 weeks ago I could barely do 2 pushups, and that was with my butt way up in the air.

Week 4 is hard, and it gets harder from there, so repeat as many weeks as you need to until you feel comfortable with the last day. I wish I'd repeated more (I did do week 5 three times.)

I do a lot of the pushups on my knuckles, which sounds hard but it's actually way easier on my wrists and forearms. When I don't think I can do any more I adjust my position a lot, too. Hands closer in, further apart, higher or lower.

I've been doing half crunches and half rocky-style situps because I don't want to work my hip flexors too much but I do feel like the full situps work my core more.

Anyway, wish me luck

Hi hi, I've only done one day so far 'cause the day after I've hurt my wrist. But I have information to share!

Me and my boyfriend were on the topic of pushups, and he told me that back in the day (like, 10 years?) when in was in secondary school, he would do different variations of the push up. Other than the one hand push up, there was the knuckle push up where you clench your hands into fist and push, there was the ten finger push ups, where you balanced on ten fingers and push, there was the diamond push ups, where connect your index fingers and thumbs and form a diamond shape, and push. The one that look the hardest was the spider. It's when you stretch your arms and legs as wide as possible and do a push up.

He also said the diamond trains the chest area more, whereas the spider one trains the back area more.

Just thought I'd share, a little fyi!

^^ good info lixximajig - thanx. But for me just doing one good boy pushup the old fashioned way is hard enough. However, I will tuck that info away in my brain for 6 weeks from now when I become a pro pushuper

Thumbs up

So, I started the challenge, and so far so good. I'm in the 2nd bracket. It got tough at the end.

I'll check in Wednesday with my 2nd day of the challenge.

Sara - heck yeah it is tuff on the end! I am on the first week for the third time. But this is definitely my last week.

Well I can definitely tell I am getting stronger. I am doing pretty good in my book. How is everyone else doing?

I'm doing better. First week was on my knees - I started week 1 over again - now I am doing them boy style. I can only go a lil better than 1/4 down, but that's a lot better than I was last week. My arms were sore this moring when I got outta bed.

Week 4 is brutal! I barely squeaked through, but I maxed out at 24. Couldn't handle 32 so I'm figuring out if I should repeat week 3 or go down to level 2...
