GOOD MORNING GALS
A super day here in

southern California, supposed to be in the high 70's again today. A great day for my wife's 40 "something" birthday

She took the dogs out for a short 2 mile walk/jog this morning...still out there. She was going to take it a little easy since her and my daughter ran them pretty good on a 3 miler yesterday.
In case Angie "lurks" in today...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABE
We are taking the kids to our favorite Italian spot for dinner tonight. We realized that my son was the only one who had ever gone there with us ~~ once~~ and we have been going there for about 8 years! Usually we bring the kids a pizza for dinner or ~~ as in most cases~~ they have already gone out for their evenings with girl/boy friends. Which I like 'cause it saves me $$$
DIANE~ WOW! I am impressed ~~ GOOD FOR YOU!

2 marathons...Angie and I walked a marathon in 2001, we trained for it with a group for 6 months. We had pretty good times for it...5 hrs. 43 minutes which is pretty good for walking. We were the second fastest in the walking group (the speed walkers did not go in our group). We had a goal of 6 hours flat so we were very happy ~~ and TIRED!! I have only one goal for this 5K coming up ~~ FINISH!! I am so out of walking shape right now. Angie and I used to do quite a few 5K's, our son ran track and cross country in high school and college so we were always around it. We haven't done much in the last couple of years ~~ Time to start again!! The last time I was in the Carlsbad 5000 I ran it ~~ slow of course

I forget exactly but my time was around the 6 minute 20 second mile figure. I could NEVER do that again! I will stay with walking! I am a much better walker than runner!
MARILYN~ Thanks for sharing your story. Every family has their pain ~~ seems some families take too much of the burden though, doesn't it?
HILARY~ Since it was my anniversary last night Angie and I celebrated by having leftovers and watching an old CSI, Ghost Whisperer, an old Law and Order and Monk on TV

(that's what happens when you get old

). Besides tonight we are taking all the kids out to celebrate our anniversary and Angie's birthday. The menu for Thursday night was ANOTHER macaroni and cheese dish! Now up until the one I made last week, the last time I made macaroni and cheese was before I married Angie in '96! Now twice in two weeks

This one I will probably never make again, it was way too rich with fontina cheese, parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese and a lot of whipping cream. The one I did last week was better, easier and better for you. It had cream in it but less, less cheese too, and only 10 ounces of gruyere cheese. Wednesday was pizza for the crowd that was here watching football. Tuesday I made a really super easy orange chicken and rice dish. You stay safe at school! I worry about my wife and son teaching, and my step daughter and nephew that are still in high school....guess it really doesn't matter where you are these days does it? Prayers for your safety.
MEL~ Ditto for the prayers for safe schools in your area. You are correct about the low income areas, it is just a fact and understandable. Unfortuntely, I think we try to be so PC these days that we fail to correct problems because we don't want to hurt anyones feelings!
LORI and MICHELE~ Where are you? Eloped with junior Michele? Lori did the boys tie you up
HELLO TO EVERYONE ~~ HAVE A GREAT WEEK-END!!
